I absolutely love the dark nature of Liian's poetry. Always dark, but oftentimes beautiful. Quite a collection of work packed into this 400 page package. Every new poem is led with a humorous quip or sentence that I looked forward to every time.
It's an odd contrast that I enjoyed quite a bit.
Pretty much every disturbing situation that most people avoid reading/talking/writing about is touched on in this collection. Murder, rape, violence to women, death....lots of death. It is definitely not for the faint of heart.
I think if anyone read this book over my shoulder I would have been asked if I was "ok" for sure. I assure you, I am. I have read more than my fair share of happily ever afters this year. It's nice every once in a while to dive into the exact opposite of that.
If you ever get tired of the saccharine sweet side of life and wish to dive into the dark, gritty, awful side...this is definitely the book to read.
Amusing lark, and so very real. A "must read" author, and decent human being.
Liian... I don't think the shopping cart is a trap, I too would enjoy that gift that keeps on giving. Still the best attorney for the BHS. Write on, good sir.
This book was hard to read as Liian opens up about his life and the pain he went through during his teenage years and early 20s. This book was truly heartbreaking but it gives hope for a future.
Brilliant poetry, beautifully written. Dark and depressing. A deep dive into the human condition where the reader feels as if they will barely make it to the surface again.
