Consent?

description

There is none. And if that upsets you.. THIS IS NOT FOR YOU BOO.

Raif essentially mind rapes her into willingness so like... it's not like he physically raped her because she wanted it. Ya know? No? Yeah me neither. I still liked the book because I'm a trash human being and poor excuse for a feminist.

Speaking of Raif... why didn't we ever find out his "true name?" Wtf? After all this big show and foreshadowing of him not wanting people to use his "true name" and then the author just ends the book like..
description

And Sara never saw him in his true form?
description

Regardless, Raif had his good moments and I'm a sucker for an anti-hero. Although this is a stand-alone HEA for Raif & Sara in part of an overall series... I feel like this isn't the last of their story based on the epilogue? I'm intrigued enough in this world and overall plot I'm probably going for book 2.

I don’t review every book I read. And this is because I read every day. So, I’m selective on who I review, and I only review books that impress me. With Felicity Brandon I find myself repeating praises, and I try to keep my reviews fresh and not redundant. It’s hard with her.

How many times, in how many ways, can I say her books are wonderful? The characters are well defined, her world building distinct and her plot seamless? But they are, and I can’t think of any other way to describe these books.

This one, Dare Me, is quite simply delicious in its originality, its carnality, and its daring. If I were of a more sensitive bent, I’d say it came close to crossing a line. Close but not overstepping said line. Not to mention that I’m not of a particularly sensitive bent. So there is that.

Dare Me is book one in the new Demonology Series. Yes, demons, ancient evil, and all that implies. This is a story of what happens when a young woman willingly involves herself with a demon. My, oh my, what that involvement entails. Whether it’s for good or ill will be up to the reader. I loved it, every dark, carnal minute of it. But then I enjoy dark romance and Felicity Brandon is one of the genre’s queens.

If you enjoy entering the shadows and playing with who or what resides there, this is the book for you. Highly recommended.

Sex scenes were great but there really wasn't a plot.
It had potential in the beginning to go somewhere I thought but then the sex took over... and then sex again and more sex and sex and sex, which she writes great sex scenes... but I did want something more.

Dare Me (The Demonology Series Book 1)
By Felicity Brandon
5 out of 5 stars

The story Dare Me (The Demonology Series Book 1) by Felicity Brandon is a book that is interesting, intriguing, and one I had a hard time putting down once I had started. It pulled me in, and I was hooked. The story has demons, the paranormal, and steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. He is a powerful demon; she is a struggling artist looking for inspiration. He is determined that she will be his. What will happen when a dangerous game starts to be played? What does the future hold for them both? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me wondering what was going to happen next. The book is written in such a way that you feel the emotions that come from the artist as she tries to understand and wrap her mind around just who she has met and what he wants from her. The demon is a character that is self-assured and confident. I quickly found myself at the end of this story and still wanting to read more. I would highly recommend reading it.

Raif and Sara

I do not and have never read a book like this. I really like the author and her writing style is different in a good way.
I could not read certain parts and names because it was disturbing for me. But I did like that Raif and Sara fell in love. If you like demonic paranormal then this book is for you.

I enjoyed this book. It is a fast paced story that is full of action with demons and spirited heroines. This is a well written story that has characters I had no problem connecting with. They made the story come alive and made it easy to read as they were supportive of each other. They brought twists and turns that left me turning pages fast just waiting to see what will happen next. This is a story about a demon that is fixed on a mortal. He is determined to make her his no matter the cost. But at what cost? I enjoyed their chemistry, they made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.

A Demon with heart

I have never read a book written by Felicity Brandon. The story is about a demon/devil who takes on a human form. This is extremely different than my usual genre- Regency. Sara and “Raif” are an interesting couple. The book contained a few surprises and the dark, erotic scenes.

Hold on to your heart!!!! Dare Me by Felicity Brandon is a dark, eerie paranormal story about a Demon who has his sights on a mortal. Raif is an upper demon who is obsessed with Sara as he keeps watch over as he enjoys her pain and heartaches. But Raif now has other plans for her as he has come to terms that he wants her by his side in the underworld as she has bewitched him. Sara is a struggling painter who has lost everything, her ex-boyfriend, her mother and her muse to paint. Raif thrives on the suffering and struggles mortals go through as he uses them for his own benefit then they are discarded. In order to have Sara he now has to control her through mind control and his demonic powers to hide his real appearance. Now Sara finds that she maybe losing her mind when she is hearing voices and seeing things. In order to bring her to his side he will become her muse to start painting again so she can get paid for her work as well as the recognition she has been denied. But Raif will soon find out that he is walking a thin line when his Master Beelzebub summons him to return to hell as now a struggle will ensure in the underworld regarding the Guardians who are the bane of Satan and his minions. But Raif who is being chastised by his Master for making Sara his, is told he wants her also. Now these three will partake in an erotic menage full of powerplay scenarios that will bring out all of Sara's desires that she has suppressed, but in order for her to have both Masters she has to renounce her faith. This story is full of dark, erotic moments as Sara resigns herself to the sacrifice she has made and accepts her fate with Raif. Now we are left wondering is someone trying to cause problems for them? Once again Felicity Brandon has taken her readers into another realm with Dare Me in this Demonology Series you will be left asking yourself is all of this for real? Can't wait for the next book as we will learn what Lucien has in store for his mortal. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book

First off, I loooove Felicity Brandon's writing, her characters & plots. She has the marvelous ability & deft skill at fleshing out & detailing her characters so the reader feels they know them intimately yet nothing ever seems overdone because we NEED to know more, we CRAVE to know more. She pulls her readers deep into the plot, so we MUST know what happens next & more importantly what will ULTIMATELY happen. But Ms. Brandon loves to torture her reader, her plot twists & turns & folds back & darts ahead, dragging the enthralled reader excitedly along the entire journey.
'Dare Me' ventures into a dark realm of demons, lust, possessiveness & heart's desires & begs the ages old question: Would you sell your soul for your heart's desire?
Raif (demon) has his evil lust-filled self focused entirely on an emotionally exhausted, depressed, desperate lovely artist named Sara (heroine). Alone, isolated, destitute, starving & now lacking her artistic creativity, Sara is at the end of her rope. And after following Sara for years unseen, unknown, Raif gleefully realizes his 'little fawn' is ripe for coercing, for enticing, for enthralling, for taking: mentally, emotionally, & physically.
And since this is a Felicity Brandon book, the taking of all three is VERY VERY HOT, intense & carnal.
But Raif is immortal evil. Beautiful, charming, cunning. But he's also powerful, cruel extremely dominant & controlling. He imparts fantastic pleasure but also delivers erotic pain.
And Sara is a mortal human. Fragile, trusting, kind, submissive. But finds herself a slave to her mesmerized fascination for Raif as well as their combined lusts.
And in Hell, its Ruler & Princes have their own plans, plots, loyalties, desires . . . .
Will Sara be able to survive the attentions of Raif & his brethren?
What end goal does Raif have planned for his 'little fawn'?
Does Sara truly grasp her situation?
The chessboard has been set up, the pieces arranged & sides chosen.
Let the game begin . . . .

2.5.

I don't usually rate books I don't finish, but as I got so far into this one, it felt more fair to do so.

I love dark characters in books. I love dark romance and I love books with Demons in them. So this totally sounded like my thing.

Unfortunately for me, what isn't my thing are female characters who are complete doormats.

This books is heavy on the master/slave, dominance/submission thing and while I could tolerate it for a while, because he's a demon, so it makes total sense, I just kept grimacing through all of the power play dynamic and when I went to sit down to read it the following evening I just didn't want to.

On the plus side I thought the way Raif was portrayed, and the other Demons in hell, was intereating, and I almost kept going, as something interesting was just introduced that had nothing to do with the main character. So this might have got better.

If female characters who allow themselves to kneel at someone's feet and call then master is your thing, and you like demons and dark romance, then give this a try.

Wow. I don’t know where to start. This book is a paranormal book since the main character is a demon but I will say that it’s not overly paranormal. There are a few scenes were he is in hell and his demonic form otherwise he is described as looking human and can perform magic. I personally like this kind of paranormal as I find it easy to imagine and follow along with so. The other main character is a human so the book is all about their relationship and how she manages with the fact that he’s a demon. I really liked it and it heated up fast! I will say if you don’t want a cliffhanger don’t read the epilogue as it has nothing to do with Raif and Sara but rather introduces who I’m assuming will be the main characters in the next book. I actually wish Sara and Raif got their own epilogue but the ending was great regardless.

Wow! What did I just read???? Felicity Brandon's books have been known to take me places I don't normally go in my reading and while I knew this was a PNR book, I had no idea that she would take me there again. I love PNR books but am very selective about which authors I read. Ms. Brandon has just jumped into that category of "if she writes it, I'll read it". I loved this story and yes I know there is more coming. That's one thing I like about this author is while she writes trilogies, the next books are not that far away. Sara and Raif almost set my kindle on fire. Next time, I'll have a fan nearby so I can keep it cooled off while I read. Loved, loved, loved this and am now eagerly waiting for the next book in this trio!!!

Felicity Brandon does dark and steamy so very well, and this is definitely dark and steamy. I really enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to the second book in this series, because I want to see what happens to that dude.

Sara is, well, I want to say that she is weak, but she really isn't. She just seems to be that way in the beginning, but you have to look more at her to see what she's really like.

Raif is really interesting. I thought that his journey was rather fascinating.

I am totally enthralled by Felicity Brandon’s new Demonology Series. Book one Dare Me is such a unique twist on a romance story. I was captivated by the storyline and the characters. Sara (human) is a struggling artist who has lost her muse after a terrible breakup and Raif (demon) is drawn to her like no other in his lifetime. He will inspire her to paint again and together they find a love in each other that they have been missing.

Just wow what a fabulous on the edge story, I now love demons and Raif was memorizing and even though he was meant to be bad he did so much for Sara as she lived in complete misery art being her only salvation and he is determined to have her and make a deal.
This was dark and heated up fast and I loved every word just wow what a fantastic book with writing to perfection that you won't soon forget.

I loved this. So very different from what I have read of Ms. Brandon's other books but still written with her deviant twist. Demons, the underworld, nightmares come to life. Reading this sends shivers down your spine, which are not all bad. I can't wait to read more in this series.

This dark emotinal story about Raif and ’his mortal’ Sara. His or his, he wants her to give her to him of her free will.
I’ve read a lot of Felicity Brandon books and I’m very imressed that she can find new angles and combination of characters, after so many stories. There’s always a hidden side...

This is a Deeply Dark Demon Fantasy. Sara is plagued by loneliness, hunger, monetary destitution, fear and overall misery. In her opinion, art is her only redeeming talent, and even that is beginning to waver. What does a demon such as Raif see in this human? What intrigues him? What will he do to seduce her? Will she believe in the lure of Raif? Will she agree to his terms? Will she give up her soul? Will she be accepted by other demons?
There is so much angst, excitement, magic and allure in this story. You must read it for yourself to see the demons of hell and their erotic demands. Will the small mortal learn to accept and contend with their salacious commands?

Demons are Hot!

This is going to be the hottest series of the summer! Raif and Sara sizzle, and it can only get better. I’m sure Satan will be jealous when he gets the scoop from the snitching Demon. Demon sex is so superior it seems especially when they show you what you want to see in the looks department, you want the sexiest guy in the world and that’s what you’ll see. Loved it! Can’t wait for part 2. Thanks Felicity.

Dare Me is the first book in the Demonology series by Felicity Brandon. I have read a few of Ms. Brandon’s books before- and LOVED them- but this is my first paranormal romance from her. She had me at paranormal though- as I love all things paranormal- so add some sizzling romance to the mix and I AM IN!!! I had my one-click finger out before I had even finished reading the blurb. The synopsis read like a check list of every element that you could use to entice me. So, I did wonder if perhaps the blurb may be ‘overselling’ the story ……... and the answer to that question is a resounding- NO! I was wrong! This book is EVERYTHING it claims to be- and more!!! I didn’t just read the story- I devoured it!!! From beginning to end- I was gripped by the story and completely invested in the characters, and the storyline.
All the elements for an exciting read are cleverly captured in this story- the supernatural, demons, fantasy, romance, some danger, and dramatic developments are all woven around a very sexy read. Ms. Brandon proves once again just what a talented storyteller and writer she is- tackling any genre with very potent results.
I will definitely be following the rest of this series- that’s for sure!!!

Thank you, Felicity Brandon!

Holy Hotness! This was a dark sexy read that had me enthralled from beginning to end. Wishing for my very own Demon doesn't sound like the smartest thing in the world, but Felicity Brandon has made me do just that with this incredible love story.

Sara needs saving, but she isn't expecting it to come from a Demon. Raif is a Demon who wants to possess Sara as much as he wants to save her. Together they are passion personified. This is a dark romance, but I found it to have so much heart that I have a hard time even calling it that. Yes, there are plenty of elements that make up a dark romance (spanking, control, bondage) but the love story between these two made my heart sing. I needed Raif to own Sara and I needed Sara to finally have someone to show her that she was more than she thought she was. My emotions were all tied up in this one from the very first page, and the sexy scenes felt more affectionate than dark because of that. I am so in love with these two I'm actually sad it didn't end in a cliffhanger. It's that good!

Gotta say I loved the premis but the delivery just didn't live up to it.

Firstly i didn't feel the connection between the two main characters, it was insta love and lets be honest they had sex once and then she denounces god and gives her soul for eternity to the demon?? Seriously not believable.

The author had verbal diahorea. It just went on and on with descriptions which slowed the story down so much and affected the pace. An example is the spanking scene: TWO WHOLE CHAPTERS to describe n take us through her being spanked ffs!!! So incredibly boring for a scene that should be sensual and erotic!!

It was all too much, too quick and incredibly boring. I lost interest very early but forced myself to finish hoping itd get better.

A good editor would have directed the author better about unnecessary inner thoughts that just go on and on! Its so tedious!

So disappointed in this book and I won't be continuing.

I rarely ever get so annoyed at character. But Saras whole character is to ask questions and nothing else. When he promised her punishment she asked "where?". What? Why would you ask THAT in a situation like that. You are about the get a spanking from a deamon and she wonders where?
Their whole interactions consist of her asking questions and more questions.

I just read Felicity Brandons The Dark Necessities Trilogy. Molly and Sara are basically the same person. One paints, one writes. But both just ask questions.

And Sara doesn't feel like the.. brightest bulb? How long did it take her to catch on to the mind reading? And then with Beelzebub in the picture it took her pages after pages again to figure out he can read her mind as well? And all those questions.
I don't think it is cute. I think it is utterly annoying.

I think Ms. Brandon is one of the most diverse authors I read. So all her books do have similarities.... They are intense, dark (sometimes inky black), and pull at your emotions (the good, passionate, and sometimes ugly). But the topics are so different. And Dare Me, is no different. Raif is a demon who is determined to possess artist, Sara. And he’s a demon, so he can have what he wants, right? But I appreciate not only the way Ms. Brandon gives her characters such complex emotions (no simple instalove here), but also all of her moral ambiguity. There is so much going on in this book! It will suck you in.
