About the author

Ludmilla Stefanovna Petrushevskaya (Russian: Людмила Петрушевская) is a Russian writer, novelist and playwright.

Her works include the novels The Time Night (1992) and The Number One, both short-listed for the Russian Booker Prize, and Immortal Love, a collection of short stories and monologues. Since the late 1980s her plays, stories and novels have been published in more than 30 languages. In 2003 she was awarded the Pushkin Prize in Russian literature by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation in Germany. She was awarded the Russian State Prize for arts (2004), the Stanislavsky Award (2005), and the Triumph Prize (2006).

کتاب رو دوست داشتم بانمک و فانتزی بود و رگه های کمدی داشت. کلا ۲ ساعت بود کتاب صوتی‌ش. خوانش خانم راضیه هاشمی همیشه فوق‌العاده‌ست. و در واقع تنها دلیلی که کتاب رو شروع کردم ایشون بود.
داستان‌ها حالت پریان و جادوگری و فانتزی داشتتند و اغلب آدما به چیزی تبدیل می‌شدن که این‌ش جالب بود واسم و دوست‌ش داشتم. فقط برای بچه‌ها نبود این کتاب، برای بزرگسالان هم جالبه به نظرم. و به عنوان یه کتاب سبک وسط کتابای سنگین می‌تونه گزینه‌ی خوبی باشه.
احتمالا کتابای دیگه‌ی این نویسنده رو هم بخونم.
فقط داستان اول یه مقدار حالت realistic بود و وسط داستانای دیگه یه مقدار تو ذوق می‌زد.
مادر کلم‌پیچ بسیار کیوت بود و نگرانی‌های یک مادر رو به خوبی نشون می‌داد.

These five tales are all interlinked, not by character, but by an optimistic morale as the end result. Cute, creative and a bit quirky, Petrushevskaya is talented enough but I'll have to check out her other stories and novellas to really grasp how good she really is.

اگه بخوام به پتروشفسکایا ستاره بدم، حتما ۴ یا ۵ میدم ولی ترجمه افتضاح بود! جدای از اینکه از زبان انگلیسی ترجمه میشد به جز دو تا داستان آخر(که ستاره واسه هموناست) بقیه واقعا بد ترجمه شده بودن (دوتا داستان آخر قابل قبول بودن تا حدی).
رفتم ببینم مترجم کیه که با انبوهی از حواشی رو به رو شدم!! متاسفانه تحصیلات مترجم رو هم پیدا نکردم‌.
خیلی دنبال متن اصلی گشتم تا با ترجمه تطبیق بدم ولی متاسفانه چون پتروشفسکایا نویسنده جدیدیه(معاصر) و چون اسم داستانش رو به روسی سرچ کردم و چیزی پیدا نشد، نتونستم.

قبلا سر داستان "شکارگاه" چخوف قلبم شکست:(( این بار دوم بود. مگه به قول خودتون چقدر ترجمه پول توشه که این کار رو با یه دوستدار ادبیات میکنید؟

نخونید، نخرید، پیشنهاد نمیکنم!
شاید یه روزی هم "شکارگاه" و هم داستانهای پتروشفسکایا رو با اجازه خودش ترجمه کردم، امیدوارم جفتمون تا اون روز زنده باشیم(البته منظورم چخوف نیست).

رگه های فانتزی در سه داستان آخر واقعا جذاب بود،در مجموع ربطی به کلاسیک‌های رویی نداشت اما واقعا روان و شیرین بود.

Imagine Gogol and the brothers Grimm meet at a bar, slam back a couple beers, and head home together for a fun night between the sheets. Nine months later, Ludmilla Petrushevskaya pops out of Gogol's pregnant belly. Another nine months later, this anthology of short stories pops out of Petrushevskaya.

Darkly whimsical, like an uncomfortable fever dream. Somewhere between fairytale and nightmare. Unfortunately, a touch too whimsical for my tastes. And, a touch too fairytale as well.

Still, while nothing really stood out to me — neither the writing nor the stories themselves — I'd be willing to give some of her other work a chance.

Bleak and quietly disturbing, the short stories of Petrushevskaya portray a shadowy world that feeds equally on the social ails of the modern world, and the earthy magic of the old kingdom.

The stories in this collection–Through the Wall, The Father, The Cabbage-Patch Mother, Marilena's Secret, and Anna and Maria–are fine examples of the modern faerie tale: part horror story, part moral hazard, and part something nameless.

As the cast of listeners, lovers, nurses, wizards, and dancers journey through realms of endless woods and monotone cities, you're left with an inkling it's only the thinnest veil of hope that keeps the darkness from swallowing us whole.

2 of the 5 stories left an impression on me. For sure they’re all fantastical, rly imaginative and you should nab a copy if you collect her books. But it’s not necessary if you’re a casual fan.

Questo piccolo libro raccoglie cinque brevi storie.
Sono storie che definirei a cavallo tra la realtà e la fantasia. Quasi favole.
Molto particolare lo stile della Petrushevskaya... mi ha ricordato un Calvino meno impegnato, ma comunque capace di farsi prendere sul serio. E' un peccato che in Italia sia una sconosciuta: leggerei qualche sua opera più ampia con molto piacere.
Questa breve lettura mi ha incuriosito molto.

ترجمه‌اش افتضاح است. میان کتابخانه ملی جستجو کردم یک عالم ترجمه دارد که به گمانم به همین کیفیت باشد. درباره داستان‌ها هم واقعا نمی‌توانم حرف خاصی بگویم. زبان ساده و کنایی‌شان چندان بزم نیانگیخت.

Unfortunately this is a very unremarkable short story collection. Some good ideas but not well executed. I particularly found the endings lame and rushed. I would not recommend it.
