Brea Alepoú realized her dream was to write and tell stories after spending five years in college getting a degree. She has since been writing and letting her imagination free. She thought she would only write contemporary at first but soon found her love for making worlds. So now she writes it all. With her wild imagination, expect lots of different stories, from fairies ruling to vampires killing everyone, to the sweet loving between two men, passion between two fierce women, or the love of multiple partners. She believes that everyone deserves love even if not all of her characters get it right away. Love is passionate, hot, needy, confusing, painful, fulfilling, and all-consuming. (pnr, contemporary, fantasy, erotica, romance, shifter mpreg, & rh) There will be a book for everyone. Insanity is Contagious. Brea Alepoú
The erotica was effective, I'd give her that. But it's hard to understand why any author would go to such lengths in order to make her main characters so unlikable. Even a dark erotica novel needs at least one slightly sympathetic hero in order to keep the readers invested. Both the vampire and the werewolf came off most of the time as petulant, self-absorbed children. River, on the other hand, was adult-mature-calm-and-collected to the point of being a human-like robot. I could not care less if his relationship with the vampire and werewolf failed or not. Any kind of emotional attachment between these characters seemed unbelievable, because how could anyone grow attached to someone that is so uninterested in him besides sex? They were mostly madly in lust with each other.
I really wanted to like this book better than I did. I don't think that we ever got a satisfactory answer to why River wss so attractive to both vampires and werewolves. And do his origins relate to why he's pretty much less human than either of the paranormal could hope to be?
I didn't like River. I couldn't empathize with someone who was sociopathic in his complete lack of empathy and emotion. There didn't seem to be anything original about either vampires or werewolves, in this book, so that wasn't particularly interesting...
Basically, I was bored or confused through most of this book just waiting for the moment for some kind of twist that simply never materialized.
Writing : on point. Atmosphere : just perfect. Sex scenes : scorching hot. I was just in the mood for this unconventional mmm little romance with the perfect messed up and emotionnaly detached character. Simple but, oh so good.
Rating: 2.5 stars This book suffered a lot from lack of story. There was little background for all of the MCs but River especially. So we were left with many sex scenes and very little story in between. The only reason that I finished the story was I kept hoping for more information that the author never provided. Overall, a disappointment.
Like everything ins River’s life, he took it all in with a calm demeanour that left his mind blank of all questions.
Well, it that’s an indicator of what I have to look forward to from River for the rest of this book, I don’t think I can bring myself to continue. Very dry writing to match a very dry character.
This was my first book from this author and I really enjoyed it. It was very different from anything I ever read and that's what I liked most. It was a fun and entertaining read. I did want to know more about Rivers past and the farm and wanted more background on the other two characters but i still really enjoyed the story and the relationship between the human, werewolf and vampire. This was an MMM book but done very differently from what I've seen and I enjoyed the whole dynamic of the their relationship and how they all fit together. Both vampire and the werewolf completed River in different ways and brought out something River never thought he would feel, emotion. What happens when a vampire wants to control a human and a warewolf wants the human to control him? You'll just have to read this one to find out.
Honestly I started this book several times and in the end went fully into it after reading spoilers and I am 100% glad I did because it also let me know I wouldn’t miss much if I skimmed the story.

So this romance is the most detached “romance” I have ever read, but the kicker is... the detachment was the entire point of Rivers character, it’s his entire persona. So kudos to Beau for attempting to pull it off, really I felt it was incredibly unique in its own way. Unfortunately I feel the story as a while fell very flat and lacked some of the depth I’m used to with their stories.
Either way I’m glad I ready it and for it of my list, it would have drove me crazy knowing I didn’t at least attempt to finish it.
The author characterized this as fun, odd, and hot in an endnote, and I would agree. River is totally emotionless, so if that’s not your cup of tea this book won’t be for you. There’s a dominant vamp and a VERY submissive werewolf who happen into his life, and he discovers he can manage to feel some sliver of happiness with them. We don’t get too much world building or too much backstory on River (though we get a tiny bit). It’s more about the relationship between these characters and the journey River takes to finding contentment as opposed to just existing with a schedule. It was a short and interesting read and I enjoyed it.
River, Caydem, and Vygus were wonderfully engaging characters and after getting a glimpse of them in a giveaway short story I was left wanting more and the author delivered in spades. I enjoyed every page and I still want more.
SO GOOD. from the backstory of river to the smut to the bickering of vygus and caydem (weird names ik) it was literally so good! i loved it all and it was amazing. knocking a half star off bc there’s not gonna be any more books about them!! WHAT THE HECK! ya ya river is content and happy with them both and his life, but seriously?!! not even an i love you! vygus and river only kissed once and it was barely a peck… it was cool and all how he wolfed out of caydem but nothing happened. only one person died in this book too, which ya was cool and i wished for him to die, but a 3some between a wolf, vamp, and a human and only one person died, little lackluster. smut was so good too. literally it was all so good and now i wanna deep dive into her books bc i need more. granted she has a snapchat filter in her goodreads bio pic… but hey, we can’t all be perfect. i understand now why river is so calculating with his schedule and why he needs to have everything planned out. knowing he was a science baby bred to be fed on by vamps without having to take as long to replenish his blood was so sad. and then knowing he “fell in love” with that creatures bloodline was amazingly heartbreaking. ugh, so good.

Brea Alepou is a new author to me and I really wanted to like this book more, sadly all 3 main characters who where unique and interesting in their own way fell short and came across as "empty".
I think River let this book down for me as I just couldn't relate to him. I needed more of a background to understand why he was the way he was.
I like my werewolves romances, especially MM and I found it hard to believe that Vygus had trouble finding a pack or an alpha he could submit to.
Maybe if this was just a MM romance, it would have been better for me.
I do like this author's writing style so I will continue to read her work.
I enjoyed this story and found the relationship dynamics interesting. I'm a little confused about River's past. It's like he has 2 different ones. In the first chapter he talks about how his parents were detached and he was basically raised by a different nanny every two weeks. Later on there is mention of his family dying in a house fire. So that is past number one and then past number 2 is being a test tube baby with some altered DNA and essentially being a lab rat for vampires. Maybe there is a point where these overlap and an explanation but as is, I find it confusing. I liked the ending and River's final acceptance of everything. It was really good.
Eh. I wanted more action between the wolf and vampire bc River wasn’t giving anything. Even the detached characters in dark romances at least like the main leads.
Always been a fan of Brea’s work, and this one is no exception! Quick to get to both heat and heart, and fit perfectly into my reading schedule because it kept my attention throughout! My only complaint (if it can even be called that) is that I wish this story was a little more fleshed out. I wanted more details of Vygus’ past, some angst with Caydem’s family, and ESPECIALLY some more of River’s past/ how it comes back to haunt him now! The story felt very domestic for the most part, and I was at the edge of my seat waiting for some twist about Caydem’s family running the human farm River escaped from, or him getting kidnapped and his supernatural lovers rescuing him, but that’s just me and what I think takes the story up a notch, but with character driven stories, you can’t force things, and for the quick read that it was, it was very enjoyable!

This book had an interesting plot and was different from any mmm book I have read. I had a hard time liking River, he was simply too unemotional. He pushed his emotions away to maintain order and control, an important aspect for him as apparently he had none as a child. The story touches on his childhood and how horrible it was, but we never get a full picture of what happened or how he came to be a college student where this book takes place. Cayden, and Vygus were also interesting, but I could not get emotionally attached to them either. I love Brea's books, but this one was simply not for me. I wanted more depth in their interactions and more drama. I still look forward to what Brea will write next.
I adore all of Brea’s work! She is an amazing author. Her world building and her books are 5 star reads for me. I enjoyed this story. It has a great premise. Submissive werewolf, controlling vampire, and human. I really did love the world building and the personalities of Caydem and Vygus. However, there was just a missed connection for me with River. While I understand he has PTSD, and a disconnect from his emotions, it’s hard to make a connection with a character if they have no emotions. I started to feel a connection to River as the book progressed towards the end, and then found myself wanting more. I do recommend this book and all of Brea’s other works because shes an amazing author and I can’t wait until her next release!
This book is amazing! I loved the idea of a human who isn't exactly normal, but he is somehow very good at attracting supernatural creatures. Cadyem finds that drinking River's blood is like nothing ever before, and he has some weird medical condition that means he produces more than a normal human. Vygus finds River's strength admirable and asks him to be his master. River just wants his normal schedule back. Instead, he becomes tangled with a vampire and werewolf and they not only hold his attention but give him something he's never had before--a place to belong. This book was so good. From the hot sex to the surprise emotion to the lovely and intriguing person River is, I couldn't put it down.
What an interesting ride this book took me on. Normally I love the emotional Bonds that characters form with each other. When you have a main character that has shoved his emotions so far and so deep that he is virtually emotionless it’s a different set of rules. River is a truly amazing character. His insight into his own psyche and need for order are very fascinating. It is easy to understand why a vampire and a werewolf would be enthralled with River. He is not like a normal human and does not fear them or death. Both are drawn to him for different reasons. Scorching hot sex scenes and very interesting characters drive the storyline and the plots for this amazing read. If you like dark and unusual characters this is a book not to be missed but amazing Author.
The characters were all unique and interesting but instead of letting us get to know them everything was kept very shallow. The mcs background was so interesting and I kept waiting for it to come into the light but besides a small flash we got nothing. The book had so much potential to be Amazon but the author didn't allow that. Everything was kept overly simple. There was no true character growth. Sure he stayed and wanted them in the end but there was no info explaining why he was the way he was, no insight or real info about the other men either. By the end of the book you know nothing about the men except their sexual links and habits. It was extremely disappointing and the author made a point to say she would not dive any deeper into their story.
"Was it a trait to be so needy when turned into a supernatural creature?" I think this quote epitomizes what makes this book so good. River is a fascinating character and not one I can easily compare to another. His reactions are what make his story so enthralling. I couldn't put this down. And this was River's story, his growth, his exploration. Plus, there are some amazing steamy scenes in true Brea fashion. If you read this when it was free, you will want to get the new version. The added scenes are completely worth it and round out more of the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
This story gave me all the feels. I love the aspect of River, he is a loner but is different in his own way. And finding two mates who love River but hate each other. Learning about the vampire and werewolf and how they fit with River was really special.
While the "true" identity of River stays hidden throughout the book and only hints at what happened to him, I kind of liked that. You could draw your own conclusions to what happened and I still felt something for River, for what he had gone through.
The romance and scenes in this book were hot and only got hotter. You won't be disappointed if you like Paranormal stories then you have to read this one.
I need River’s college experience as I want my own werewolf and vampire. River is one unusual human but I completely adore him and his aloofness. He literally meets his matches in Vygus and Caydem. “The only times he felt truly free were with Caydem and Vygus.” They’re definitely demanding but cause the best kind of trouble. I love all the different personalities, how they mesh (or don’t), and how River reacts to each. All three are oh so sexy and yummy, and the ending scenes, I think my mind melted. I’d clear my schedule for any and all of them. This book and its characters will master your heart.
Goodbye!!
Wow! So, I read the original short story and thought this was great! However, the expansion to novel/novella, not sure what it is considered, totally worth it! River, Caydem, and Vygus talk about a trio that can put it out there! I'm not giving anything away, but if you like steamy, kinky, and hot scenes this is definitely something you want to read. Plus, that last scene was a sucker punch tonthe heart, with all the feels! Read it!
This book was so good! I loved every second of getting to read it! These characters had amazing chemistry and I could not stop reading. I wish this was going to have more books and we could spend a lot more time with these characters. River, Caydem, and Vygus were just so great together and to get to know. This book gave me so many feelings and made me want to blush a time or two. It was great to get to learn more about River and the mysteries to do with him. I love this author so much!
I've read this previously as a short story and loved it but it left a lot of questions especially about River who is far from a normal human. This extended version adds several scenes and answers a few questions. As much as I'd love to go back to their world, I don't feel it's necessary. It's certainly a story I'd read again and again, which is a rare thing for me
This book was a re-release of a prolificworks freebie with added chapters.
You know what! Screw the haters! I loved these characters! I’ve always loved Caydem! He gets what he wants and is willing to take it! Vygus is just there to keep Caydem the blood sucker on his toes while he makes his master happy! And River is the meat in the sandwich 😉😉😉 I love their dynamic! I love how Caydem and Vygus got a scene and i enjoyed getting a little more insight into Rivers past!!
Interesting. This is probably a 3.5 for me. I had a hard time getting into it in the beginning. I felt like River was a sociopath with no feelings/emotions. When it’s just his POV for the first 1/2 of the book with no emotion, makes it hard to connect. I wish there had been more than 1 chapter of Caydem and Vygus’s POV. I ended up enjoying it, hence the 3.5, but I wish there was more on the relationship side, more on the sex side, just more. I thought it would be steamier than it was too.
