Love these quick popcorn thrillers! Thank you KMod for more good times.🍿🤩

Orrick and Iris Locke have a lot on their hands. They are owners of a billion dollar security firm Locke Industries. They have a big household staff but are now in need of a nanny for their 9-year-old son John. Olivia Mendes was hired on the spot.

There were many secrets, twists, and turns. I had fun not really knowing what direction it was going. BUT I know it'll be juicy when Orrick was described as "ridiculously handsome"!

The Nanny's Secret (2020) is a standalone thriller of the two-part "Locke Industries" collection. I'm curious about the other book now and wish they have an audiobook for that one as well. I really enjoyed the three excellent narrators Frankie Corzo, Cassandra Campbell, and Tim Campbell.

Thank you Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for this ALC.

Olivia sure has a secret and that secret really makes this book. But how how dense can a man be?? Not too sure how I feel about the ending, but for the rest of the book, it was good.

I listened to the audiobook of this one and I felt like the narrators did an excellent job bringing the characters to life. I struggled to get into this one because I didn’t like any of the characters and I did feel several of them were over the top in ways that took me out of the story. Once the story got going I did think it moved a lot fasted and I enjoyed it more. There is another book in this world by another author I love and I feel like I will need to read that one as well at some point. Olivia Mendes is the new nanny for the very rich and security focused Locke family. The Locke’s have secrets and reasons to worry about safety, but Olivia has secrets of her own.

Olivia Mendez has come to be the ultra wealthy Locke's family's son's nanny. What she finds within the walls of that home, shocks even her as she herself has a secret she wants to unlock and perhaps a revenge wish deeply hidden within her.

The Locke's own and run a very successful security company. Orrick and Iris seem to be the perfect family, with all the attributes we think make one successful. However, as Olivia learns, it just might be an illusion for what underneath hides a deep insidious nature of these two.

There are some serious twists going on here with the concept that lives have been lost and some other lives might be on the block as well.

I enjoyed listening to this story that kept the action going and the surprises flowing. Definitely appearances can be and are deceiving when secret are held within each character.

Thank you to Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape Media, narrated by Frankie Corzo; Cassandra Campbell; Tim Campbell and NetGalley for the ability to listen to this story which has just become available.

Secrets, secrets, and more secrets. No one can be trusted and nothing is at it seems. Kirsten Modglin always delivers shocking twists and this thriller is no exception. I was immediately pulled into the world of Locke Industries. Orrick and Iris’ life is built on mystery and lies. Their nanny, Olivia, is soon thrust into their family of deception and deceit where facades are shattered and deadly truths are revealed. This is an emotional roller coaster of a thriller. The narrators expertly brought the story to life, adding a layer of intrigue and suspense that kept me riveted. Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook.

3.5/5⭐️ I have mixed feelings on this book. It started out much slower than I’m used to with Modglin’s writing, and I struggled to connect to both the characters and the storyline. However, the second half pulled me in and I really enjoyed the twists (though some were a bit over the top).

I will note that this seems to be a duet with another book from another writer altogether and I cannot help but wonder if some of the holes I was noticing were filled in that book, but honestly do not have a desire to read more of this story. If you are someone who likes quick, popcorn type thrillers and the synopsis of this one grabs you, I’d say give it a try.

Thank you Dreamscape Media for the ALC.

Wow! This is an entertaining, fast paced, well-written suspense novel which is filled with mystery, intrigue, twists and turns, and secrets. It is a real page turner that I could not put down until reaching its shocking conclusion. I read this novel immediately after reading and thoroughly enjoying Emerald O'Brien's amazing "The Assistant's Secret". Each book can be read as a stand alone, and the reading order does not matter. I am looking forward to reading Ms. Modglin's and Ms. O'Brien's other entries in this series with great anticipation.
I received an ARC of this novel and this is my honest review.

Darn it! I was sooooo ready to give 5 stars. That is, until the last page. It ruined it for me! This is a very good book. I expected it to be about a Nanny disrupting a nice family so I put off reading it. Boy, was I wrong. It is told from 3 POV which makes the pace go along quickly. I read this book in a few hours. It will grip you and carry you for an exciting ride. Don’t let my 3 stars prevent you from reading this book. But I’m just pissed off, so I HAD to reduce my rating.

Wow! Another excellent title from Kiersten! Her books never disappoint. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of both books in the new Locke Industries series (the other written by Emerald O'Brien, review to come soon), and these opinions are my own.

I think Kiersten is an all-around exceptional writer, but she especially shines at writing the most unlikeable characters for you to root against, while sometimes blinding you to the true colors of the protagonist. I hated Iris. I hated Orrick. That was the point. It wasn't until very far into the book that I realized the rest of the story might not be as it seemed, and the end really caught me off guard! Another tightly woven, suspenseful tale. I cannot wait for more!

Didn't expect that ending.
Olivia gets a nanny job looking after the Lockes son John.
Olivia's fiance had died in a tragic accident and after grieving she just needed a job.
Olivia really enjoyed caring for John but had ulterior motives.
She needed to find out what happened to her fiance.
As the story goes to the past it tells the story of Tom and how he worked for the Lockes.
He almost died in a bombing that the Locke security company was involved in.
The Lockes needed to blame the bombing on someone and they had their eye on Tom.
As the story comes together people aren't who they seem and the story isn't what you think

Oof, this book was rough for me. I was tempted so many times to throw in the towel and DNF, but the 4.30 star average and all the rave reviews kept me going. Also, this is the second book I’ve read by this author recently and while that one also took me a little while to get into, it ended up being very suspenseful and good. This one not so much. It took me a month to slog through this book. Granted the holidays are a busy season, but a good thriller will take less than a week for me. I understand that with any thriller book or movie you have to suspend SOME disbelief, but this just had such gaping plot holes for me that it was difficult to get past. Am I really supposed to believe that this powerful couple who owns this billion dollar security corporation and the resources to so thoroughly frame someone for a domestic terrorist attack that the FBI was duped, wouldn’t have bothered to know what his fiancé looked like or who she was? Also, the wife was romantically involved with this man but never social media stalked him?? Come on. It’s 2022. Who doesn’t look up a love interest online, let alone the woman he left you for? And I understand the nanny was vetted by an employment agency but am I supposed to believe that they don’t keep a drivers license with a photo ID on file for their employees? Let alone the person they are entrusting to take care of their child?? I am hesitant to leave bad reviews because I know how much time and love an author puts into a book, but I just cannot wrap my head around all the positive reviews. This was a tedious, unbelievable mess for me.

Whenever I read a Kiersten Modglin book it is either hit or miss and with The Nanny Secret from The Lock Industries Series is a definite hit I mean she smashed it! This is why I always pick books written by her because when she is on top of her game she is the queen of thrillers! Olivia Ramirez is the nanny to the locks eight-year-old son John she is also mourning the loss of her fiancé Danny. On her first day Iris lock interviewed her and it wouldn’t be till the next day that she met Orick, he is the owner of lock industries in the husband to Iris live is taken aback at how handsome and personable he is somethings she is going to use to her advantage they say there’s no hell like a woman scorned and Olivia has been scorned and someone has to pay but who will it be. There is so much I want to say but so much I cannot because it would give too much away and OMG Olivia has an ulterior motive and things worked out for her in the worst way or depending on how you look at it maybe the best way. I thought Tim and Cassandra cambell did wonderful jobs narrating this book I found Tim had a commanding voice that fit perfectly with Oric lock Cassandra had the perfect voice for Iris lock with her hoity attitude and I thought Frankie Corso did a fabulous Olivia Ramirez and they all had such perfect character distinction which makes this a top-notch audiobook to listen to. No matter which one was narrating the book you could tell who was talking in the emotion they were trying to evoke. This was a great book and one I highly recommend. I want to thank Net Galley and Dream skate media for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Only if you enjoy tragic endings

This book started out slow, but I stuck with it. I found the plot different and fairly interesting, but towards the very end, it went downhill fast. SPOILER ALERT: The ending featured a gory scene and the main character is all of the sudden not such a nice person anymore. Actually, as it turns out, NONE of the characters in the book are likable. And, it ends with the main character’s death in true Romeo and Juliette fashion . What a waste of my time!

On a KMod book binge lately. I loved the multiple POVs in this one. The plot and twists were perfectly done. I predicted the ending minus one part. I was hoping for an epilogue because the one part I didn’t predict, I was hoping would be part of another just kidding twist. Overall, a great psychological thriller. Not every book needs a perfect happy ending. 4 stars! ✨

No secret, I love Kiersten Modglin’s books. She never disappoints! The Nanny’s Secret is no different, I flew through this in one sitting.

This is one that I feel you should go into blind, and be prepared for one good, twisty ride. The cast of characters is mostly unlikable, but with Kierstens’ signature writing, I was totally invested in where the story was going.

Clever, fast paced, full of tension, and hard to put down, I can highly recommend this one!

Many thanks to @dreamscapemedia for an advanced listening copy- the narration was excellent!

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved how they have three different narrators for each of the main characters! They all fit the images in my mind perfectly and it was very easy to listen to in a day! The story is about a very rich family that hires a new nanny for their son and slowly everyone’s secrets are revealed. I felt the pacing of the story was great and all the twists and turns made my head spin! Definitely a five star read for me and if you like psychological thrillers be sure to read this one!

Another fast-paced, thriller by Kiersten Modglin; every single one of her books makes my heart race and my head spin as I try to figure out what’s going to happen next and I can never guess. I loved everything about this one except for the very end (that made me sad) but I highly recommend this and any book by this author if you’re looking for something to make you read well into the night.

I received a copy from #NetGalley and #Dreamscape_Media for an honest review.

Olivia is the new nanny to the prestigious Locke family. Clearly the family and Olivia have secrets to hide. Olivia excepts the job and starts snooping. The husband and wife are leading different lives in private, and the husband is happy to have the young and pretty Nanny.

I do not want to give anything away about this one, but WOW!!!!!! This quick read was full of secrets, seduction and alternative motives that are juicy and I could not wait to find out WHAT was next!

The Nanny's Secret by Kiersten Modglin
Locke Industries #1
7h 50m narrated by Frankie Corzo, Cassandra Campbell, and Tim Campbell 350 pages

Genre: Domestic Suspense

Featuring: Family Business, Multiple POVs, Drama, Sex, Danger, Office Setting, Security

Rating as a movie: R for adult content

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️👩‍👦

My thoughts: 📱6% 27:05 Ch. 2 Olivia - Okay, so far, but not enough for me to stick with it. I'm switching books.
📱28% 2:13:55 Ch. 14 Orrick - I hate to do it because people are waiting for this book, but it's a little dull, and I have to move on for now. I don't feel as bad since the wait dropped from 10 this morning to 5 now. It should be a quick read, but my brain is like, go to commercial.
📱42% 3:12:18 Ch. 19 Olivia - These people are on my nerves.
📱67% 5:13:04 Ch. 30 - It took a while for me to get into this one. There are too many characters and connections too soon. The secrets and inquiries are amateur, but I'm sticking around for the big bang. This is the longest I've ever had to take to read a Modglin book. This one is giving me Tyler Perry.

So, I wasn't a fan of this drama. It took more than 2/3 of the story for the book to heat up for me period I even consider not finished it, but reviews kept raving about the ending I got to the end I was not amazed. It was better than okay but not solid. I even saw a major plothole with the ending.

Recommend to others: Only if they ask.

Although this was a pretty predictable popcorn thriller, I still enjoyed the ride. It was short and I was able to listen to it in one day while I worked and, yes, you have to suspend belief because there’s plenty of plot holes but that’s what these books are for-to escape reality.
Olivia arrives at the home of Iris Locke, who happens to own a successful security company with her husband Orrick, and they are looking for a nanny for their son John. She’s hired on the spot and soon her life is deeply intertwined with theirs. While she’s watching Johnny, she notices that the Lockes are frantically trying to mitigate the damages from a job that’s gone wrong. But the Lockes aren’t he on,y one trying to do damage control-Olivia is hiding things too. Why did she really come there in the first place?
Told from multiple POV and from dual timelines, this is fast paced and although no real surprises, it still wasn’t a bad way to spend the day.
The narration was well done as well

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this audiobook arc in exchange for my review.
