Jinx and crew have just survived Briar Hollow's first annual paranormal festival -- SpookCon1 as Tori calls it, but on the last night, they get a nasty surprise. The Strigoi Sisters are alive, and they're working with Creavit wizard Irenaeus Chesterfield!
With Chase still stinging from the breakup and Lucas Grayson more than a little interested, Jinx has plenty on her plate without a new evil trio in town. As the team works to discover Chesterfield's motive, something happens in the Valley that changes everything for the Hamilton family.
Complete with Glory-inspired hijinks, more problems with the baseball ghosts, and deepening marriage woes for Gemma things at the Witch's Brew get complicated fast.
Juliette Harper is the pen name used by the writing team of Patricia Pauletti and Rana K. Williamson. As a writer, Juliette's goal is to create strong female characters facing interesting, challenging, painful, and at times comical situations. Refusing to be bound by genre, her primary interest lies in telling good stories.
As the Strigoi sisters reappear with Chesterfield, Barnaby finally reveals his connection with the creavit wizard.. it's a shocker but it's on a long list of problems Jinx has to resolve.
They have a paranormal investigation team HBH, Haunted Briar Hollow, trying to go viral with a stream of video footage of ghostly baseball games.. rogue ghosts appearing from all over wanting to join the league!
Something odd is going on with Pete at the pizza place and Chase doesn't want to accept that he maybe the one who passed on information.
Connor is under threat from Chesterfield who has developed the ability to travel to distinct points in time.. he's also able to trap people within a moment meaning they cannot be found.
Desperately seeking the protective amulets of the Mother Tree's or a living branch Chesterfield will stop at nothing and when an accident takes Connor into the human world he kidnaps him and holds him to ransom..
Finally Jinx's father Jeff hears the truth about his heritage and learns that he too has powers that lay dormant.. with some blood magic, plus the help of a king and a Soothsayer the family will finally be reunited..
A solid 3.5 stars. At times a bit confusing and jumping around (a few editing errors too, I think) had me re-reading portions several times before I could move forward.
The later books are definitely missing the charming mystery of the first 2 books. Now they read like a continuation series - like Harry Potter. Each story has it’s own problem to resolve, but the lone big bad guy is still out there to hunt down and determine motive. Not really sure how much more it can go on.
I enjoy these novels, but having thought this would be the last one, unsure if I will continue to the second set of 6. I was able to get these for free through amazon prime, so if I can find then next ones for free as well, I will likely continue.
Still really enjoying the Jinx Hamilton series and craving more and more! The fact that I've stayed with it and continue to enjoy it despite its shift from urban fantasy to pure epic style fantasy speaks volumes. Usually I refuse to even be in the same room as a fantasy novel (yes, I really do loathe the genre!), but with Jinx, I remain captivated, remain on the hook. This is a series that a large variety of readers would enjoy and should check out. Highly recommend!
Jinx us more entangled but maybe a little less clueless. The fight against Chesterfield (the evil Wizard) goes on. The battle to regain Jinx's brother, Connor (if your following this series then you know the backstory), is the real story in this Series and that's where I will leave my review so as not to ruin the ending.
The thing I love about the Jinx Hamilton series is that it brings magic to life. The world Juliette Harper creats is magic at its finest. She is constantly creating new aspects of the magical world and giving the story new life with each new chapter.
....................................................... I'm personally really disappointed with the ending. It felt like there was all this build up, and then a rushed let down. Not that it wasn't happy or anything, because it was, it just felt like a hurried footnote.
Still enjoying the series which I'd still classify more as Sci-Fi than Mystery. Interesting plot with different species which are explained as well as Jinx understands them. It's fun learning with her and following her journey.
I wasn't sure about the Jinx Hamilton books but I'm hooked. A totally believable other world setting, with interesting characters that I immediately wanted to know more about.
Gives other witchy series a run for their money. More please.
Follow Jinx, her best friend Tori and her intrepid band of adventurers as they struggle to save Jinx's brother from an evil sorcerer who turns out to be their uncle.
The author did connect this book to the reviews five but did not overly repeat herself. It connection was just that a connection since this is book 6 and if one is reading it, it is more than likely other books have been read. The action of the story started out great with lots of puzzles for Jinx to solve. The synopsis ending really took away from the rest of the book. I thought it was done rather too quickly.
"Witch on Third: A Jinx Hamilton Mystery Book 6" by Juliette Harper is the latest addition to The Jinx Hamilton Novels Series. Jinx and her posse can't seem to catch a break. Just when they thought that things would settle down after they took down the Strigoi Sisters, the found out that their efforts were undermined by Irenaeus Chesterfield. The notorious Creavit wizard stays a few steps ahead of Jinx and friends while he uses temporal magic to achieve his goals. Overall, I thought that this was another good addition to the series. If you have taken a break from the series or just can't keep the details of the story in order, there is enough info drops to get you back up to speed. I look forward to reading the next novel in the series. Yes, there are a lot of characters and side plots, but that's what makes this series fun to read. Here are some questions to explore. What is Chesterfield's game plan? Will Jinx and Lucas hook up? Will Tori and Connor have good chemistry? Will Glory get changed back to normal again?
When this series first started, I was really expecting another lightweight series with a bumbling new witch and a few laughs. Boy was I wrong! Not that that would have been bad or that we haven't had a few laughs. We have, but this series has become so much more that it is one of my very favorite series. This installment does not disappoint either, delivering a good deal of action and interesting happenings. The characters continue to develop and are a likable bunch as always. I was also grateful that we were not left on a cliffhanger! I am still looking forward to the next and the next, so keep writing Ms. Harper! And fast would be even better!
The Jinx Hamilton Mystery series keeps improving with each additional book. This series stays original each book brings on a new character or two while keeping all the other characters we have come to love involved. The story and Mysteries get solved but the big bad character of the book continues to get away in a different fashion each time. I'm excited to see where the next book takes us and celebrate in the wins this team of paranormals accomplish.
This series does not disappoint. You know how some series after a few books seem to get bogged down and disappoint you as being rushed, well this series is just the opposite. This series of good vs evil keeps it fresh and has new twists. Good read can't wait for the next one.
This series was so much more than I had ever hoped. Juliette's mission of creating strong female characters has been successfully fulfilled yet again. The world of Briar Hollow and Shevington is deep and rich, as are the histories and relationships of their inhabitants.
Another great book in the series. In this book something wonderful happens after a lot of bad stuff.Lol a very long awaited meeting takes place....and jinxs family is growing. I really love reading this series and seeing how Jinx is developing her powers and how the new characters come in. Great story!
No cliff hangers, just expectation in the next book. Entertaining and witty, original plot! Loved every second reading it and I secretly felt "educated" by it.
