Taking place in a world with hauntingly beautiful and vibrant locations, Nima will draw in people who were excited by the world of Avatar: the Last Airbender.
Drawing inspiration from anime like Full Metal Alchemist, fighting games like Super Smash Bros., and movies like Spirited Away, Nima's world will take you through an expansive and magical journey with a dynamic cast of companions, travelers, and enemies.
This book shows Ross Tran's vision from start to finish, depicting this vivid world with scribbles, sketches, key scenes and cinematic paintings.
okay okay OKAY. *deep breath* so i’ve been waiting for this book for about 6 months (i feel so late compared to everyone else haha) and i finally got it today and finished it. AND...i really liked it. the concept of the worlds is very VERY cool and the character designs are A-MA-ZING. nima is def. my favorite character personality wise and has one of my favorite character designs. this book really got my inspiration going and inspired me a lot. i don’t know how to explain this, BUT, i felt really...GOOD??? after reading it. like my day was just BETTER. and what really topped it off was THEE ART. my goodness thee ART! it was beautiful and captivating. Ross really knows how to set atmosphere. OH and the cat concept?? ALSO GOLDEN. loved that SM.
so now that i’ve praised the mess out of this and have made it abundantly clear that i love it...why am i giving it 4 stars?
i found one main issue that caused me to deduct a star. so, i am going to try to word these criticisms as nicely as possible! if Ross ever sees this i want him to gain!! also, i’m an aspiring artist and writer myself who has her own novel and universe she’s creating as well. i am not perfect nor do i know everything there is about writing and my criticisms for all i know could be absolute garbage and objectively incorrect. i am only pointing out some things that i felt may have tanked the quality (in storytelling, not in art and presentation of course) of the book jussstttt a tad :). but as you will see by the end of this review, i still TOTALLY recommend getting this book.
oh, and SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT - - - -
the main issue i saw was pacing, and the introduction of characters and other exposition between the story panels. i think the story portion of the book would’ve flowed a bit better if there weren’t so many character introductions between plot events. i think it was okay that nima and faye had their respective character introductions after their first appearance; but i think the rest of the characters could have had their character pages at the back of the book in the order they were first shown :). i see a lot of reviews talking about the lack of story (when i say story i mean like webtoon, comic-book like pages) which is true to an extent. i think there was good amount of things covered, it’s just that some things seemed rushed. like when Nima’s spirit was spilt into pieces. the whole build-up was very short and didn’t leave too much of an impact. little things like that!
overall, the book seems like an introduction to this beautiful universe. i dove headfirst into and loved what i got out of it. the whole aesthetic is amazing, and the feeling i felt when reading this was light and pure. the characters are very charming and engaging. like the description says: this book is hauntingly beautiful. you can see the amount of effort Ross has put into this. it just SCREAMS talent and hard work. this book is worth every penny (it is kinda pricey, but worth it) i am sooo excited to see what Ross has planned next for this universe and would completely recommended this work of art!!
whew! that was a lot. i hope this review was helpful!! i know it might seem a little messy. i just typed this whole thing straight from out my brain in 30 minutes. but i think i got majority of what i wanted to say in here :)

I backed Nima back in 2017 and honestly kept forgetting it existed until I'd get an update email from the author advising that it was "nearly done" - three years later (and two years after it was /meant/ to come out) I finally have it!
And it was (sort of) worth the wait! It was a fair sight shorter than I was expecting, but the art was gorgeous and the world was intriguing. I'm interested to see more in this world - just hopefully in a more timely fashion.
Got a signed first edition of the book from the Kickstarter campaign. It's such a gorgeous book that transports you to the world of Nima. Fun to read, the illustrations are gorgeous, and you can tell a lot of love and pride went into making it. Don't want to give away too much since it's not out yet, but it's an amazing book to add to your collection. Love it!
This book is really something unique when i first try to read. i got caught with the story which is so engaging .its like it forces you to swipe the page and read what's happen next..
the art and drawing is so inspiring and the print quality is sssoo epic if you watch closely you can see the detail its feel like its not printed but draw with paintbrush.
This book represents the world of nima which will inspire you to create your world and escape from the reality.
i definitely recommend this book to those who want inspiration, who want to create their own world, who want their own character to come alive and there more stuff in the book its depends on your perspective what amazing things you can extract out of it. never limit your vision to find your own lights is really the main purpose of the book
I find art style being very appealing even in those loose and sketchy drawings. The world of Nimaverse is vast and interesting, with its unique characters, beautiful and colorful places, and combination of mortal and spiritual dimensions.
