A 21 year old female college student goes missing. The same day a 41 year old male lawyer goes missing.
Coincidence? Did they runaway together? Were they doing the sex?
Only 63 pages i read this in two hours.
Picture a guy sitting in his recliner, beer in one hand, scratching himself with the other, watching a new episode of Buddy Steel. Good tv. I look forward to next weeks episode.

I read this short story in anticipation of book one, Missing Persons, of the Buddy Steel mystery series.
Buddy Steel is happy working homicide at LAPD.
Then his father, renowned Sheriff Burton Steel is diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease.
Buddy hesitantly agrees to be acting sheriff of the small coastal town of Freedom, California, about a hundred miles north of Los Angeles, for his dad.
He is called to help find the missing daughter of family friends, who disappeared after an evening out.
When an attorney and then a legal assistant from different firms go missing within days, Buddy teams up with the FBI to find connections between the missing victims.
This was a quick, entertaining read, and Buddy is an appealing character with a sense of humor.
Looking forward to getting into this refreshing series.

Another great Buddy Steel story that to my surprise I stumbled over and it was free on kindle. Thisis a great antihero and somewhat different from many small town police stories.

I quite like the main character but there’s little sleuthing, and not much happens.
