Brielle Tanner is being forced into an arranged marriage with Sylvester McCree, a wealthy, arrogant, and amorous old man. Resigned to her fate, she realizes the only way to save her father’s home from the auction block is to agree to the wedding. Until Wyatt Broussard attends her engagement ball and promptly sweeps her off her feet and to the Louisiana bayou. A place where Dixie, gumbo, voodoo, and legendary secrets stir the Spanish moss that drips from the giant oak trees, and Beauty meets her Beast.
Kitty Margo grew up in a small North Carolina town nestled between the Pee Dee and Rocky Rivers. She began writing when her children were small. Having too many interests to stick to one genre, she has written books for the YA, historical romance, and women's fiction audience. Kitty has three amazing sons and four completely adorable grandchildren. She enjoys cruises with her girlfriends, traveling to historic destinations, reading, visits to Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC, and spending time with her grandchildren. She still lives in her North Carolina town with her youngest son, a song writing and beat making wizard, so there is never a dull, or quiet, moment.
DNF 15% About chapter 8, is where i stopped. Brie didn’t end up marrying the old man, her father was saved, she got together with the handsome young hero. There was no tension. Everything seemed fine only she was moving to the bayou and i could have cared less. 🤷🏽♀️ because there was nothing mysterious about the situation.
I totally enjoyed this book, it really broke my heart for Brie. I was heartbroken for her when Wyatt was so cruel, I almost didn’t want them to end up together he was so awful to her. I feel like this story is a wonderful twist on the beauty and the beast tale and anyone who ever lived in a Bayou knows the terrifying tales of the creature in this story. I love stories where you can feel the pain or joy the characters are going through and this one does that for sure. Well done
Love on the bayou? A loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast with a Cajun lore/werewolf twist. A forced marriage turned into a love-match with a different groom and then the introduction of a werewolf and a jealous ex-girlfriend but set in the mid-1800’s…
There was a lot going on. Not a fan of this fairytale retelling.
I enjoyed the read... but I'm glad this was a free book! When I started, I almost quit reading because the writing style was a bit "over-the-top" flowery! There were also some spelling and grammar errors which always bother me. The writing seemed to get better (or the plot hooked me) so I stayed with it.
An extremely enjoyable historical romance set in about the 1850s in the Southern United States. The characters are real to me and I will read more about them.
