But it doesn’t matter. He isn’t human. He catches her in an instant...
The vampire who’d come to kill Mickey Taniss for her grandfather’s crimes is tough, hard, beautiful and dangerous. She has no hope of escaping him in a physical confrontation.
So she'll just have to outwit him.
But that's hard to do with a vampire who claims he sees the future...
Theodoric Sebastos, ancient judge of the Dardaptoan vampire race, has sentenced Mickey and her sister to death for their grandfather's actions. Once he catches her, one fact becomes evident--she is the mate he's been searching hundreds of years to find.
He will never let her go.
Mickey is human and innocent of any wrong-doing--and in danger from far more than just the vampires surrounding them.
Theo has to find a way to protect her from his own people before the otherworldly threats stalking her catch up to her. And destroys them both.

Calle Jaye is fun, playful, ironic, professional and sophisticated. She’s super-educated in the field of fiction and would spend most of her time walking around in “Book World” (or”eBook World”).
Does she have slight control freak tendencies? Yep. Why else would she chose to self-publish?
In her day job she gets to read romance novels. In her night job she gets to write them!
Her favorite color is bold purple. She likes rock like Kid Rock, Shinedown, and Nickelback. Add in a bit of Anastacia and Adelle, too.
She collects rocks. Watches crime dramas. Abhors Lifetime Movies and Titanic (especially Leo…) and refuses to read or write about sparkly teen vampires.
She’s married to a cop she strongly suspects is a vampire. They’ve made vampire babies, too.
They live in Indiana with their vampire relatives and their vampire dogs.
Theo is forced to abduct Mickey to satisfy their ancient laws. Since she has been sentenced to death, it's a little unfortunate that the woman is his mate. Mickey is determined to resist her abductor, but things aren't quite what they seem, and walking away won't be easy.
Hmm. I'm not quite sure what to make of this. It's not bad, and there is promise here, but it doesn't quite pull it off.
The pace of the book is far too fast. It keeps rushing on and on, and it never really takes the time to slow down and provide more details. We don't get to know the characters as well as we could have. The chapters are all fairly short, and we're always being rushed on as if the author is in a terrible hurry. There are too many things that could have used more explanation.
This story is clean, which is fine (if a little odd for the genre), but it comes across as a little prudish. The choice to avoid sexual details is fine, but the story could use some evidence of a passionate connection, even if it does take place behind closed doors. It's difficult to believe in any real connection between the "couple".
The ending here is exceptionally abrupt and unsatisfying. Not even a cliffhanger as such. More just "Eh, good enough. I can't be bothered writing any more". Nothing is really resolved and nothing really happens.
Also, the decision to have two characters with similar names is annoying. (Kennera and Keranna). Pointing it out to make clear it was deliberate doesn't make it any less irritating. Particularly in the chapter where both are repeatedly mentioned.
Overall, I was a bit disappointed. The book could have been much better.
I have the next two books in the series, as all three were free, so I'll continue on, but considering the next book has even fewer pages, I don't have high hopes of it avoiding this book's problems.
This Paranormal Vampire Romance is enticing. Theodoric Sebastos, a Dardaptoan seer and judge, sentenced Mickey and her siblings to death for her grandfather's actions against his people. On the mission to capture her and her sister, he discovers she's his long-awaited mate.
Almost a Stockholm Syndrome story, this captured mate's tale veers away through careful deliberation and choices offered. The end is charming.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.
I'm sure everyone has the idea of what a vampire is. I did to till I read this book! The Author has woven a tale that has you questioning what you think into what you want to learn more about. It's addictive with the first few lines to the end! You get lost in the characters and the story line. And you want more! I'm looking forward to reading more of this story and it's characters. You love a good vampire book?? Then you will love this story.
This book leaves readers with too many questions. It's so short that it simply doesn't explain any of the situations or even the world that they live in. Things just happen, and that's it. Things are mentioned and then you move on as if everyone already knows what it is. It need to be at least twice as long just to give readers enough backstory just to understand.
Theo meets Mickey(Michaela) when he goes to kidnap her. He was supposed to end her life, but found out she was his mate. So he changed her to be a vampire like him. As she grows to know him, he shows his love for her.
A good read for people who are into the series recommended highly a good read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
I enjoyed the book, but I started reading thinking it was book one, as Kobo suggested. When I realised it was a novella or short story it made more sense. I think I will read the series if I can find it on Kobo store.
so not really sure how to describe this. they go to kill some innocent girls because their grandpa is an a-hole....and then all find their fated mates. And so they kidnap them, drain their blood, turn them into vamps, and expect their mates to love them back....wow. the ending was not an ending it just stopped but the next book is from someone else's POV. So not sure how that works. literally sums up the entire book. The best parts were from the goddess's POV and there wasn't nearly enough of that. Honestly I would prefer to read her story.
To be honest, I do not have much to say about this book.
I understood that it is a short story, however the whole book from start to finish just felt rushed.
Theo (or main love interest in this book) is sent out to kill Mickey and her sister and cousins for what her grandfather did to the Dardaptoan (vampire) race. From there the 4 vampires sent finds 4 woman and all of them are mates? This just feels like sloppy writing. As if the author tries to force this whole mate idea on the reader.
This is one I absolutely have to have the sequel to. A great book. A sexy vampire lawyer, a human law student-the granddaughter of a vampire hunter, a blood vendetta. Her grandfather has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of vampires over the last 40 years, but Mickey doesn’t even know they exist until the night she is kidnapped along with her sister and 2 of her cousins as part of a blood vendetta.
This is one of my favorites of the series. Theo's gentleness and efforts to make Mickey feel safe and loved went a long way for me. All of Theo's actions spoke of how much he longed for her to be his. Mickey may seem meek but she has great inner strength that impressed me. The ending is nicely done. All read
The beginning is just a rehash of the first half of book 1, but expanded and from Theo's point. This one is about Theo & Mickey. Too short, especially when the beginning is a rehash of the previous book. Not much more happens than what was told in book one except it's about Theo & Mickey, and barely moves the story along.
