Who doesn’t want their mom to play Cupid?

Addison Cooper had planned on an all-expense paid vacation to the Cayman Islands to celebrate her most recent business success. Instead, she’s trekking to the outback of Oregon to help a friend of her mother's.

Reclusive novelist Brogan Cavanaugh’s new thriller just hit the New York Times Best Seller list. To reward himself, he was planning to spend the summer at his family’s fishing cabin until his mom unexpectedly calls in a favor.

Even though moms Libby and Ruby have been best friends since they were college roommates, Addison and Brogan have barely spent time in each other’s company. And when they did, things didn’t go well.

How will they react when they start to suspect their interfering mothers are setting them up?

Love Is a Battlefield centres around two mothers who, having been best friends since college, decide to set up their children, despite their never having gotten on particularly well as children,

Honestly, I'm not sure what I expected out of this, but overall it just came across very immature. Especially Addison, who seemed to simply waver between being rude and childish to Brogan who seemed to just flip flop back and forth between being attracted to and annoyed by Addison.

The way the relationship developed, and the mothers' meddling, just didn't seem all that well written, and came across incredibly juvenile at best, and just plain weird at worst!

Honestly, the best thing about this was Billy by far!

Also there was basically no physical description of the characters apart from ‘handsome’ ‘hot’ etc., which was kind of off-putting - I like to have visual cues at least!

Two mom BFs decided to play matchmaker with their kids. This book featured the machinations and scheming by the ladies. I didn’t enjoy the story but the mother’s emails were cute.

Such a fun story. It's like a reverse Parent Trap, complete with campground hi-jinks! I like that it has both the male and female perspective, as well as getting to see what the mothers are cooking up. The descriptions are great and really bring the story to life. Definitely add it to your TBR for a cozy fall read!

No. Just no.

I gave up on this very quickly, far too many red flags. Setting people up - fine. Being manipulative about it and setting your daughter up with the childhood tormentor who then also didn't show any respect for her as an adult - huge no. The whole scene of him refusing to leave her room when she asked was wrong. Maybe I read it at the wrong time, when there has been too much in the media of privileged men who take what the want and ignore what women are saying.

But this was not the book for me. And there was no way I wanted to read on to find out if the classic 'he only teased you as a child because he liked you' bullshit was introduced.

This author is a new-to-me author, although she's not a new author. The cover for this one drew me in. Then the promise of a funny enemies to lovers story, I decided to give it a go.

This one started out pretty good. If I'm being honest, it's a good one. The characters are all fun. The meddling mothers adds a unique layer to the story. It took me a minute to understand the point of having their little conversations in there, but it was fun reading their exchanges.

While, I liked the characters and the premise of the story, I didn't feel much of the connection between the hero and heroine. Maybe because this isn't a sexy romance. (Many know I prefer this type of romance.) But on some level, I would expect to feel some kind of pull between the characters. It just wasn't there for me.

The book itself moves slow. I did find myself wavering a bit from time to time. There's a lot of filler that slowed down my reading a bit.

Overall, this is a cute book. It had its fun parts. I am glad I read it. I am for sure looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This was the true definition of “laugh out loud” funny to me. Addison and Brogan are the picture of “enemies to lovers”, while the mothers were absolutely hilarious in their plotting and meddling. I don’t know whether to be more shocked or impressed that their plan wasn’t a spectacular failure. There’s a lot of moving pieces in this story to get Brogan to see Addison as more than just the little girl he used to tease and to get her past her belief that he was and will always be her nemesis. These are characters that came alive in my imagination; I felt like I was experiencing all their feelings. The foundation is set for the next story and I’m already dying to get my greedy little fingers on it.

(4.5 stars) - Glamping with the Enemy!

Addison & Brogan have been set up. Their BFF moms have decided to play matchmakers, and the unhappy couple is about to learn that resistance is futile!

Addison is rudely cranky to Brogan, but as we learn more about her history with Brogan & James, it becomes increasingly easier to understand why.

Their relationship development is a little shortchanged by the efforts at comedic development, but it's a fun story that made for an entertaining, lighthearted read. Most enjoyable & looking forward to the next!

*Romance level: passionate kisses, one character comes across another swimming au naturale, non-marital intimacy discussion with acceptance by the moms, main characters' intimacy hinted at but no graphic descriptions

*Language: a bit crude (expressions such as "stick up your butt" & "tits on a bull"), nearly a dozen uses of d-mn & h-ll

*Religion: secular; a few dozen careless uses of God's Name (ie in vain), sadly & unnecessarily, but not as curses at least, fwiw

Cute, fun, easy/breezy (note, for later, how I incorporated the outdoors into my review!) story about two mothers, and life-long friends, who decide that it is time for their adult children to have a relationship! Of course, they want one that leads to marriage and grandbabies but hey, what could possibly go wrong? [cue snort laughter]

Addison/Addie is Libby’s daughter and one half of the target couple. Her mom, call it like it is, blackmails and guilt trips her into giving up a vacation in the Grand Cayman Islands to fly to Oregon. You’ll have to read the book for the back story as it is hilarious and well-told by the author.

Brogan is Ruby’s son and the other half of this to-be-couple. A quick overview: Brogan used to tease Addie – mercilessly! – when they were growing up. Addie is still traumatized about it, all these years later, sooooooooo getting them together is quite the accomplishment. But there are many, MANY tricks and much bickering between these two but in the end, they find their own way…much to the chagrin of The Mothers.

Sometimes there was a bit much snipping and angst for my enjoyment but the story moved along quickly. I did enjoy. Characters surrounding these two are pretty funny; one in particular is very special – at least to me. And from the setup for the next book/brother? Oh boy. Let the games continue! Great story about these brothers!

First reaction: I seriously laughed out loud! Ahem..the oil scene: priceless

Reclusive novelist Brogan Cavanaugh’s new thriller just hit the New York Times Best Seller list. To reward himself, he was planning to spend the summer at his family’s fishing cabin until his mom unexpectedly calls in a favor.

Review: Thank the angels this wasn't too hallmarky, I found it to have a Lucy Score vibe. Some of these enemies to lovers are awful, it's tricky to weed through and find a good one. This is a good one. It was cute, funny, absolutely hilarious..ahem the OIL scene 😁😂. The ending was unexpected and of course: Awwwwww.

My rank is 5/5. Very well written

This was a pretty good read and my first time reading this author. Addison Cooper is a 32 year old who was planning a much needed vacation when her mother ask her to help her friend. Brogan is a New York Times Best Seller Novelist. Their mothers have been friends since college Ruby and Libby. When they come up with this plan to bring their children together it doesn't go how they want it to. Addie and Brogan have history which includes playing pranks on each other. This was a good funny read I liked both of the characters and the secondary one's as well. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Automatic star deduction for naming the male main character BROgan. No offense to anyone that has that name but it was so cringe for me to read for 350+ pages. I thought the female main character’s grudge was petty and the meddling moms were annoying. This book was FINE but I will not be continuing the series (which is SEVEN books long?!).

Pretty awful in every imaginable way. All the characters are unbelievably immature. There is no real or convincing romance, no real promise of lasting happiness ahead for the two main lovers.

2.5 stars

This book isn’t bad or unbearable, I rated it the way I did because I didn’t get the same reading experience it promised in the synopsis.

I thought this book was a romantic comedy, but I found most of it not funny. It’s a bully romance trope, but not in the intense way— just silly pranks during family camping trips when they were younger. I didn’t see an evident romance between Addie and Brogan; at some point they individually had hot and bothering thoughts about each other, which immediately jumped to “I can see my future with her”. I wish I was falling in love with them, but instead, it felt bland and their love story/romance was words on paper.

The characters fell flat, I didn’t feel their emotions. Out of everyone, I enjoyed Billy. I love how his character was written, he had the most depth out of everyone and I loved his philosophy and perspective.

The text messages between Ruby and Libby were fun to read. It carried a lot of emotions, and I liked how they recall their younger days in some of the text exchanges, though it was out of the blue sometimes. Plus, it’s so cute that they use emojis!

The good things about this book are the place setting and the various relationships. I haven’t been to Oregon, but the description in the book is clear and it’s tempted me to visit it one day. It’s refreshing to see relationships between old friends, family, siblings and mother-child, on top of the romantic relationships.

All in all, this book is okay. It fell short for me, but others might find it their cup of tea and enjoy it more than I did.

I had a really good time with this book. It was nice and simple. Our characters were likable for the most part, although I must admit that Billy was the real star of the show in this book. The more I think about it, the more I wish that some things were done differently, but I still had a great time nonetheless.

I know that this was a romance, and it was definitely there, I just wish there was more. It wasn't until the very end that they actually got together, and it wasn't even a big deal, just kinda like "ig we're a couple now *shrug*". Oh well.

What happens when two young women who met at college become best friends and stay in each other's lives through marriage, children, and then the unspeakable spouse's death? Well, they mettle in their children's lives, they want their children to get married and have children, preferably connecting their families.

Bob and Libby Cooper met at the University of Oregon, they moved back to NYC, married, and had one child, Addison. Addison is a thirty-two-year interior designer who is creating masterpieces in the hotel industry.

Both from Oregon, Tom, and Ruby Cavanaugh met at the University of Oregon, Married, and had two children Brogan and James. Brogan is a New York Times Best Seller Novelist. James is an organic farmer. Tom recently passed from a heart attack leaving his wife Ruby with their lodge Willamette Valley.

Ruby and Libby come up with this grand master plan to bring their children together however, there is so much history their adult children need to overcome. The hijinks are hilarious; so much heart and love in this rom-com. It will put a smile on your face and fill your soul with happiness! If you haven't read Whitney Dineen, I highly suggest that you do.

This is a story where two mothers, very good friends since college, connive to make their grown-up adult offspring begin a relationship together that they intend to end up producing marriage and grandchildren. The reader will be amused at their antics – or maybe smack them around a bit.

Addison Cooper (“Addie”) is Libby’s daughter. Her mom connives to get her to drop her awesome vacation plans and come to Oregon to help with a crisis. Brogan Cavanaugh is Ruby’s son. He had teased Addie horribly as they were growing up and she still hadn’t gotten over it completely. It really was traumatizing. So this matchmaking effort would be a little tougher to “sell”. While Addie is plotting her revenge pranks, Brogan ultimately comes to realize that what he had done was painful and wrong. Is that enough penance for his mean deeds? Will Addie forgive him and the two of them just let nature take its course?

This can be a fun story if the reader doesn’t end up choosing sides. So be prepared to laugh and see what the two adult children decide to do about the situation!

Ruby and Libby, best friends forever, connive plans to get their two wayward kids together. Addie and Brogran only have their childhood past of him picking on her with his brother, to start with. While in beautiful Oregon, they settle in with revenge pranks and miscommunication. Romance starts and heats up while everyone around them seems to be in on the push to get together, as well as more pranks. The characters are fantastic, with great backstories, all the way to the end (uncle). The tension starts high but gradually resides when romance takes the stage. Meddling mothers are doing their best for everyone around them. A great book to brighten up your day. You will not be putting this one down at all.

Kept me smiling throughout!
by HHG

Libby and Ruby start this delightful story, as only conniving mothers and life-long best friends could! Addison/Addie and Brogan are the unwitting victims of their nefarious plans, and it is hilarious how it all unfolds over a very short time. Ancillary but very believable characters include Brogan's brother James, 'homeless' Billy, neighbors and friends, the various lodge employees, and don't forget that the state of Oregon played a key role. Addison is a noted New York designer for top-end resort and vacation sites whose Grand Cayman holiday is hijacked by her mother, forcing her to spend her months’ vacation in the rustic wilds of Oregon. Brogan is an accomplished author recovering from a shallow ex whose selfish grand plans that didn't include him; now he's also trying to move beyond a legacy of making Addie the victim of his childhood pranks.

The tone of the book was light, the writing flowed, and I gladly picked it up to continue reading the tale. I particularly like the way each chapter starts with texting between the mothers, followed by the relevant unraveling of events surrounding all their children. I'm truly looking forward to the next book in the series about finding James his "one and only". Sure wish I could "glamp" in one of their cabins and watch the subsequent stories (hopefully in the works) unfold!

Behold the power of meddling mothers:
I didn't know whether I was scared of these meddling mama's or in awe of their skill! All I know is I absolutely loved this book. It had just the right combination of humour, drama and romance.
Addi is a highly strung city girl who's been tormented by Brodie since they were kids. However both have grown up a lot since then and whilst they find each other attractive, Addi is determined to never forgive him for how he treated her. It was wonderful seeing them sparring and I often found myself chuckling along, especially as poor Addie tried to "rough it" in the outdoors.
I also enjoyed the mystery surrounding the 'homeless' man who helped Addie and thought he was a nice touch to the story. Whilst the emojis were a nice thought but were way too small on my kindle to make out what they were most of the time.
Overall a fabulous rom-com and now I can't wait to see how things work out when our mama interferes in her other son's life...

When I was a kid, I loved the old movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It's more than a bit dated now, but I have a lot of affection for it. So the title of this series caught my eye right away.
Love is a Battlefield is also a fun title! And the fact that this story takes place in my state is another fun bonus! So needless to say I was predisposed to like this book!
But the flirting and forgiveness, meddling and mischief were just adorable. The setting was fantastic! I would go glamping in those woods in a heartbeat! And the characters, especially Billy, were so lovable.

PS It breaks my heart to imagine what the gorgeous forested area described in the book would look like now with all the fires in Oregon.

This book is a humorous Rom-Com involving meddling mothers. The characters, Addie and Brogan, have known each other due to their families' annual camping trips, but Addie was always pranked by Brogan. Hence, Addie was always looking for revenge against him. When these two find themselves in the back woods of Oregan (compliments of their mothers) the sparks begin to fly. This book is a fun read and I recommend it.

Meddling mothers playing matchmaking- worst trope ever

Playing pranks and bullying - the worst kind of hero ever

Is it supposed to be funny to see FMC suffering for the half of the book? NOT AT ALL

I feel so bad for her because she did nothing wrong. I’m still reading this book and rooting for her to get her revenge but of course at the end, in a way I certainly not satisfied. Not a hint of romance I got in these two.

When an interior decorator finds herself working on a glamping design in Oregon instead celebrating a birthday with her mom in the Caymans, plots and challenges abound

What are the moms thinking ?

Shared childhood vacations and crushes could give them grand babies if they play things right

The wrong plan or prank at the wrong time could mean a permanent breech

Humorous romance and mom plotting
