THE WICKED AFTERMATH is an emotionally gripping story of love, loss, and hope, with a rich and entrancing happily ever after.

When the person you blame for your grief is the only one who can save you from the pain...

Tank Wicked lost his sister and has since vowed to save everyone else in his path. He lives by the creed of the Dark Knights motorcycle club, sworn to protect and respect his community. He selflessly saves lives as a volunteer firefighter and treats the men and women who work for him at his tattoo shop like family. But life isn’t a balance scale where good deeds negate bad things to come, and one foggy night life guts Tank once again. When a car careens over the side of a bridge and into a river, Tank springs into action, plunging into the water to rescue the passengers. Four people go into the river, but only three come out alive.

Leah Yates is just trying to make it through each day. When the man she blames for her grief becomes the only one who can pull her from the depths of despair, she discovers that even hope comes at a price. Maybe this time she won't have to face it alone.

Set on the sandy shores of Cape Cod, the Wickeds feature fiercely protective heroes, strong heroines, and unbreakable family bonds. If you think bikers are all the same, you haven't met the Dark Knights. The Dark Knights are a motorcycle club, not a gang. Their members stick together like family and will stop at nothing to keep their communities safe. Some of the Wickeds’ love stories will be hilariously fun and deeply emotional, others will tear at your heartstrings and include injections of humor, but they will all leave you wishing you could climb between the pages and join them. All Wicked novels may be enjoyed as standalone romances.

"You and the girls changed my life, darlin’. I look forward to teaching the girls to ride bikes and climb trees, teaching Junie to tattoo and Rosie to do whatever she’s into. But most of all, I look forward to a lifetime of loving you."
I don't believe in things "of the year". My favorite movies have been my favorites forever, and the same is true for songs and books. I just keep adding more to my list. Those are the ones that stay with me.

This book is going to stay with me for a while, for the sheer happiness it makes me feel to see good people getting their happily ever after. When all's said and done, that's what we all want, after all the heartbreak, sorrow and crap this life puts us through.

This is the second book in the The Wickeds series, and it's Tank's and Leah's story.

"I’m here for whatever you or they need. You can use me as a punching bag seven days a week, and it won’t faze me, other than making me feel sad for your grief. There’s nothing I can’t handle."
Like all of Melissa's heroes, Tank really is something. He's fiercely loyal and protective, he does everything for those he cares about, and even for strangers. That's how big his heart is. Underneath his gruff, leave-me-alone exterior, he's such a wonderful person it's hard not to want him to be real. Tank's a tattoo artist, and I love that about him, as much as I love that he's a biker. For you to understand Tank, you need to know he lost his sister, and he never really recovered from it. Grief has a way of twisting us up, even when you're surrounded by the wonderful family he has.

"When he closed his eyes, he saw Leah front and center, just as he had for the past several months, and he knew in his gut that even if they’d been on two separate continents, they’d eventually have found each other, because soul-deep connections were once in a lifetime."
Leah's had it rough. She lost her dad, one of the people who mattered most to her in the world, a few years back. She had to raise her kid brother herself, and was there for him when he got into trouble. It seems like she's had more than one person can take, but life can be very unforgiving. My heart broke for her, because she so deserves to be happy.

"Tank’s smile is spotted less frequently than Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster. You’ve touched our gruff giant in a way nobody else has been able to."
I've badmouthed life enough, and it's time to pay her some compliments. While she seems to go out of her way to punish us, sometimes she sets the right people in our path. Tank and Leah are both grief-stricken, and they need to keep moving forward with their lives, even though something has been left behind for both of them.
Tank has noticed Leah before, waitressing at his parents' place. Leah has definitely noticed Tank before as well, towering over everyone and part of the Dark Knights.
But what happens when life brings them together in a way that breaks your heart, while knowing all the pieces will be glued back together, with soul-bearing love and the hottest chemistry you can find?

"I’ve never felt like this before, and once we do this, once I know how it feels to be inside you, I’m not sure I’ll ever be the same again."
This book is a journey, both for the characters and the readers. A journey from almost not talking to each other, to Tank being there for Leah every step of the way, even when she's overthinking it. From Tank being a loner to being wrapped around the girls' fingers. From Leah being alone to finding the friends, the family, and the future she was always entitled to having. From sorrow to a happily-ever-after that will leave a smile on your face. I'm still smiling now.

"We’re going to be dancing at this festival when the girls are old enough to make fun of us and tell us it’s gross when we kiss."
Tank and Leah needed to be made whole again. I keep imagining them like two forgotten pieces of a 1000-piece puzzle, without which it can't be completed. That puzzle was their life, together. And all the pieces are now accounted for.

From grief and pain to everlasting, all-encompassing, boundless love, it was a beautiful, heartwarming, tear-filled read for me, and is one of my forever books now.

The first time I read this book, there were so many emotions... And Tank and Leah’s story stuck with me.

Then I got this audiobook, and all the feels came rushing back. Melissa’s words in Aiden Snow’s growly voice and Jennifer Mack's sweet one were everything I needed.
And every time Jennifer voiced one of the girls in her amazing way, I melted.

Tank is fiercely loyal and protective, and he does everything for those he cares about. Leah lost her dad, and she had to raise her kid brother and two little girls all by herself.
Life brought them together when Tank noticed Leah waitressing at his parents' restaurant, and she definitely noticed him towering over everyone. Still, they kept their distance.

But what happens when tragedy comes knocking in a way that broke my heart only to patch it up again?

This audiobook was a journey, much like their story is, told in two voices that absolutely matched the characters. Aiden nails the possessive, protective, hot side of Tank but also the sweetness he shows Leah and her girls. Jennifer gave me a fantastic slight Southern accent and showed me heartbreak and sadness, but then love and hope.

As it progressed, these amazing narrators pulled me in harder, which meant feeling everything. It’s not a bad thing. I felt the pain and the grief, but also their connection and the moments where they healed together, slowly but surely coming closer.

Leah and Tank are also, in his words, combustible. And yes, you get all of that too! Is it hot? You bet!

Theirs is a story of loving through grief, of becoming whole again. They might not have realized it, but they were the piece missing in each other's lives. You could hear the love, the longing, and it made me smile and swoon and tear up.
There's a lot of heart in Aiden and Jennifer's voices, and that’s what stood out the most for me.

I once said this was one of my forever books. Well... It's also one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to.

New Audiobook Review August 2024
TISSUE ALERT!!!

I originally read this back in June 2021, when The Wicked Aftermath was first released, and I fell hard for Benson "Tank" Wicked. To this day, if anyone asks me who my #1 book boyfriend is, I always say it's Tank Wicked from The Wicked Aftermath. The Wicked Aftermath AUDIO has been rereleased with a new male narrator. I had to dive in once I heard Aiden Snow narrate it. That man could read me the phone book, and I would sit there and listen to the whole thing. Jennifer Mack did a phenomenal job with bringing Leah to life. You could feel all of the pain she had endured, and the heartache she had gone through at her young age will have you rooting for her right from the start. Aiden Snow, in my opinion, is the perfect choice to bring Tank to life. He had me crying one second and laughing the next, which was exactly what I needed at that time. If you have the opportunity to listen to this book, I highly recommend you do, but if you don't, I recommend you purchase whatever format you enjoy reading; you won't be disappointed.

the wicked aftermath by melissa foster

I don't know how Melissa Foster does it but she creates the absolute best couples ever! Tank and Leah's story is one that will grip you with so many emotions, I cried for a good majority of the book but in between Juni and Rosie had me cracking up. This story is about loss of a loved one, the process of grieving and trying to move forward, finding love, and discovering a family you didn't expect. I completed this read in a day even though I had to put it down a couple of times to compose myself, I couldn't help but go right back to it because it was sooooo good!

This story will gut you but I promise it will put you together again in the best possible way before it's over. My heart swelled with emotions throughout this story, it was so heartbreakingly beautiful you cannot help but fall in love with each and everyone in this book. From Benson aka Tank, to Leah, to the precious little girls who had me craving Pincakes for breakfast. I don't know how Ms. Foster is going to top this one, and I know I have said that before but man Tank is going to be hard to knock out of the top book boyfriend spot.

I highly recommend this book to everyone, whether you enjoy Contemporary Romances, MC Romances, or are just looking for a good Steamy read, this is one you won't want to miss.

Happy Reading!!!

‘He could take down six men single-handedly, but as he headed outside feeling all warm and squishy, he knew he was no match for the debilitating power of those three girls.’

After devouring A Little Bit Wicked, our first taste of the Dark Knights MC Club, and our first foray into the storytelling world of Melissa Foster, we were desperate to get stuck into The Wicked Aftermath to uncover Tank’s story, a mountain of a man with the heart of a lion who captured our hearts in book one, and we absolutely LOVED it! A beautiful story of loss, love, and healing.

“Rest baby. You’re safe with me.”

The Wicked Aftermath begins in a heartbreaking and deeply emotional way – our hearts weren’t prepared! We gathered ourselves off the floor and readied ourselves for Leah Yates and Benson (Tank) Wickeds beautifully moving love story.

His throat thickened. “I’d hold my breath if it means Leah could breathe.”

Melissa Foster once again captures the lifeblood of the Dark Knights – the bond of brotherhood, loyalty, and love, and whilst we said previously, this isn’t your gritty MC sort of book – these men believe in honesty, respect, family, and loving and protecting those close to their heart. What they lack in grit, they make up for in heart. Their club is all about community and family.

“I’m not here out of obligation, darlin.’ I don’t leave the special people in my life alone. End of story.”

After suffering more than most can handle, Leah Yates, a waitress at Tanks parents’ restaurant, is left to pick up the pieces of her life whilst looking after her two beautiful little girls Rosie and Junie. For Leah, she’s always had to do things herself, never having friends or a big family to help along the way. However, that changes when Tank feels a responsibility for Leah, Junie, and Rosie.

“I made you girls a promise, and Wickeds always keep their promises.”

Leah has always been skittish around Tank. He’s quite the man – a big burly tattooed, pierced biker with a tough exterior and a heart of gold. Leah and Tank have suffered similar tragedies, and as they explore their feelings, and bonds develop, they learn to support and love really do help heal the heart. We knew Tank would be something else, but he blasted his way into our hearts even more.

“They’re the toughest men I’ve ever met.”
“Me too, but don’t let them fool you. They’ve got big, breakable hearts like the rest of us.”

We adore this series and love the small-town vibe this author creates so vividly – it’s as though we’re there. At the core of each story are family and friendship, and those don’t come any better than the Girl Squad – what a supportive and fun group of women.

We can’t wait to find out more about the Wickeds and immerse ourselves in their stories. A perfect escape and what a fabulous way to while away the day! Bravo Melissa Foster!

“I’m falling hard for you, darlin,’ and every day those feelings get bigger.”

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I have been looking forward to Tank and Leah’s story after their introduction in A Little Bit Wicked. After receiving The Wicked Aftermath for review I received a tissue/ugly cry warning. With that in mind, I expected it to be an emotional read. It may not have had me reaching for tissues, but it left me feeling bittersweet.

I started out enjoying the banter shared between the characters. It is always fun hanging out with the characters Foster creates. Then the unthinkable happened, which sent me into a slight tailspin. It made me sad seeing it all unfold, and my heart ached for Leah. She has lost so much already. How much more can she bear?

Amidst the sadness, Junie and Rosie provided a ray of hope and sunshine. These two beautiful and adorable little girls who called Leah, mom, were her anchor in her storm of grief. Also, the support she received from Tank and his family helped in so many ways.

I loved the relationship which developed between Tank and Leah. Tank looked out for her and the girls every chance he got. Tank may appear to have it all together, but a tragedy from his past still haunts him. His willingness to help Leah through her grief would provide the healing he needed. They shared an attraction prior to the tragic event, so I can see how easy it would be for love to grow between them. The passion they shared was so intense; readers were sure to be left hot and bothered. Tragedy may have brought them together, but in the end, love bound them forever.

The relationship Tank had with Rosie and Junie had me smiling. Their interactions were riddled with cuteness galore. He may appear tough on the outside, but deep down he a softie at heart. Here we see this tough and broody biker who willingly dresses like Peter Pan, tights and all, so he could grant a little girl her heart’s desire.

Foster is known for creating stories with strong family connections, and The Wicked Aftermath was no different. It warmed my heart to see how the Wicked’s embraced Leah, Junie, and Rosie. They provided them with a sense of belonging. Also, the camaraderie and the way they made fun of each other had me laughing at their antics.

This is one of those stories that is likely to break your heart into tiny little fragments, while providing you the support needed to mend the broken pieces. Overall, in The Wicked Aftermath, Foster created an engaging and heart-warming story of loss, hope, love and healing, which featured a strong heroine and a swoon worthy hero. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

I have heard that this installment is one of the best of the series so I was super eager to read this one and it was a BLAST. I just couldn't put this one down and I had so much fun reading this couple and everyone involved in the story. There is something so unique about the way that Melissa Foster just captures the essence of deep emotion with it. I was so captivated by the sense of family and especially the heartfelt emotion. The story stars with a sad beginning, and my heart just broke for this family, but seeing the way that our hero is such a protector and stands with them and guides them through their grief was so beautiful. I really adored how the Wickeds just come together for this family suffering such a blow and stand with them, there is such a sense of community that is highly focused on. I also really enjoyed the romance as a whole. Even though we have kids in the picture, there is still such a strong focus on the relationship and chemistry between them. I really adored how strong the hero is and doesn't let small things that is a result from the grief to keep him from being there for her. He is so strong and steady and has a self awareness that is so endearing. Overall I had such a blast with this one and what a great way to kick off my reading week!

I fell in love with the Dark Knights when I first picked up Tru Blue what feels like forever ago and got sucked in by the awesomeness of Melissa Foster's words. And I have loved every book in that series. Some of them have been sweet and gentle while others have ripped me apart and pieced me back together with pieces of their story embedded.

Right before I jumped into this book I read the warning that this book was emotional so I put it off for a bit so I could read it free from toddler interruptions. And I am so glad I did because by 10% of this book I was clutching the tissues with tears streaming down my face. And although the book wasn't sad and depressing, I did have moments throughout the book where those tears would pop back up.

Tank was everything we expect from the Dark Knights with their motto of love, loyalty and respect for all. And even though he had been through hell he came out forged by the fire. I loved every little thing about him. He was so all in from the moment he laid eyes on Leah and when he realised the full extent of her situation, he didn’t even bat an eye before he doubled down on his efforts to win her over.

Of course, Leah was a strong and independent woman who despite everything that had happened didn't need anyone to save her. She was fully capable of looking after herself and everyone around her. But once she opened up to everything Tank was dying to offer her she just got even better. Because the two of them together was a beautiful thing to witness and I put the book down with a big goofy grin on my face and a feel good feeling I couldn’t shake.

As can always be expected from a Melissa Foster book I read this as a standalone and loved it, I will absolutely come back and read book 1 in the series. There were an awesome number of secondary characters who were just as beautiful as the main characters and the family was awesome.

Loved it.

What can I say about this book. I am in awe of Melissa's writing. Every book is a work of art, but now and again you read one that really hits you with all the feels and stays with you weeks, or months, after reading it. Tru Blue was, for me, an awesome read and turning point in Melissa's writing. Her romances often have some angst as that is just real life, people go through hardships, illnesses, divorces, have awful childhoods...but there is always the happy ending. But when a story is more gritty, and you just know Melissa will put your heart through the wringer before gradually piecing it back together again, then the tears and heartache are all worth it. Every sigh and heart palpitation well earned due to the masterful writing.
The Wicked Aftermath is one such book. There have been other books since Tru Blue that made me go WOW! But believe me, this one is a powerful read from the get go. I will go so far as to say that I think it may even just eclipse Tru Blue.
When an author warns that it is a 'two boxes of tissues read' you know she means business. I won't give away any spoilers, but be warned that something happens in Chapter One and you will be crying. I sobbed so hard I could hardly read through my tears, and tissues weren't cutting it so I reverted to a kitchen towel - much more absorbent!
There are lots of sad moments, but big gruff Tank is a complete softy underneath and the way he helps Leah and the girls is so touching. And what can I say about Junie and Rosie? Melissa just writes the cutest kids.
This book, like Tru Blue, really needs to be made into a movie. I mean REALLY, REALLY.
I loved every single word. It was a smorgasbord of delicious verbiage.

This was so cute! Fun and Tank was so so sweet! It had everything I love in a single mom romance and was very tragic and I felt the emotions for sure.

That being said, this is my third Melissa Foster book and just none of them so far have hit the mark for me. I can’t explain it, something is just…off.

O.M.G! This book - no words can adequately describe this book. The Wicked Aftermath is my first Wicked/Dark Knights book. Safe to say that I’ve added them all to my TBR list and have a folder labelled: Melissa’s Book Babies on my eReader.

Benson “Tank” Wicked is everything a book boyfriend should be. He is a bearded, tatted, pierced Unicorn with a Capital U. The world needs more men like Tank. Somebody make a mold of this incredible man, right the hell now! I am head over kindle in love with him. He is a volunteer firefighter, tatto artist and biker. He’s also a dedicated son, loyal sibling, generous boss, loving boyfriend and a toddler whisperer. In other words - the whole package. But by far the thing I loved most about him, was how he was the man that Leah, Rosie and Junie needed. Watching him love on them, made this an unputdownable romance read.

From page 1, The Wicked Aftermath will take you on an emotional roller coaster of a ride as you navigate every single emotion out there. There will be incredible highs and devastating lows but in the end, happiness, love and family will prevail. Do yourself a favor and add this book to your TBR list and fall in love, like I did, with Tank and Leah and the entire Dark Knights At Bayside family.

The Wicked Aftermath was the second book in The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside series by Melissa Foster. It was one of many in her Love in Bloom series.

Tank Wicked was the dark brooding wicked. After suffering a major loss, he was out to save the world. He was a volunteer fire fighter, tattooist, shop owner, friend, brother, and son. His mission in life was to help others, always.

Leah Yates was a newer employee at the Salty Dog, the bar owned by Tank’s parents, Conroy and Ginger Wicked. She kept to herself most of the time but Tank could tell she had a few secrets and his protective streak was in high gear. Little did he know what was in store for them both.

What an emotional ride. The storyline was very sad and full of life lessons. As always with Foster, it was well written, well developed and an HEA. But the road to getting there was a long one. Well worth the read, but one where I had to take some breaks before traveling down at full speed. Foster also gave us sneak peeks into the rest of the wicked clan and I totally can’t wait for more.

This book had a hold on me from the first page. It was raw, emotional, heartbreaking, you could feel the pain, grief, and guilt these characters felt. While The Wicked Aftermath had a few heavy moments it was a story about moving on and finding happiness again.

I loved Tank and Leah’s characters and after reading Crazy, Wicked Love it was nice to read their love story. This was a one of a kind book that will stay with me for a while and I can safely say it was worth the book hangover it gave me.

What to expect:

🧡 Found Family
🧡 Close Proximity
🧡 Single Mom

First of all…
NOT YOU MAKING ME CRY FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE BOOK, LITERALLY 50% OF IT I SPENT IT CRYING, AND THE LST 2 CHAPTERS AS WELL!!!
I forgive you, but MANNNNN THAT HURT MY PWETTY EYES🥺🥺

Now on to the review:
I FUCKING LOVE TANK AND I NEED HIM IN MY LIFE!
Tank is the guy every girl needs, someone as strong to hold him and her without hesitation. Someone who would die to avoid someone he loved pain, someone who would walk through fire and fight for his life in order to stay with his most prized possessions.
I honestly was jealous of Leah, and I loved her.
Leah deserves everything good in this life, from the love of her new extended family, to every single moment in life with her family.

This book broke me and put me together in one sitting and loved it. They run an MC, but a clean one and that’s beautiful.
I remembered reading the first one in this series and loving that specific part of that book. Can’t wait to read the third one.

This is definitely as stand-alone. You don’t need to read the first one to understand it, and I love that!

Can’t get how beautifully written this was, 10/10 in my books! ❤️❤️

How early can you leave a review for an ARC?...because THIS book was too good not to start shouting about it early, it’s not out to June 9th, but now is the time to go get it on pre-order, I will continue to shout about this book, I loved it so much!

I’ve never had a book destroy me emotionally by the end of the FIRST chapter like Wicked Aftermath did 🥺

Wicked Aftermath was an emotional read but please don’t be put off, Tank and Leah’s love story was full of warm emotions, it made me cry, made me laugh, and made me sigh with happiness.
The Wicked family and friends are certainly working their way into my head & heart, in fact Tank Wicked is my favourite character within the series, for anyone who has read the authors Whiskey series, Tank very much reminds me of my favourite Whiskey character “Bear Whiskey”.

Both Tank & Leah are suffering with deep sorrow, each step forward is heartbreakingly beautiful, together with the help of two cheeky little girls, the love from a large loving family & support from friends they begin to heal each other.

This story was everything plus more, it left me feeling great warmth & total happiness on the inside, the author certainly knows how to pull every emotion from you, we are taken on an epic journey to HEA.

I highly recommend Wicked Aftermath....but have tissues handy!

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

The Wicked Aftermath
is hands down my FAVORITE Melissa Foster book I have had the pleasure of reading. This is the love story of two people both grieving from lose and finding strength to continuing living after losing someone dear.

I seriously loved everything about this story, so much so that I am having trouble getting my thoughts together in order to write a review without spoilers. Melissa Foster tore my heart out of my chest right in the beginning and then slowly stitched it back together. It's been a while since I was consistently moved emotionally by a story. From devastation to heartwarming and tender to bittersweet. Just SO many FEELS!!

He brushed his nose alone her cheek, whispering, "I'm so lucky to be yours."

{deep breath} Moving on....let me gush about the characters. Tank is my ultimate bearded, tattooed, pierced, giant of a man, book boyfriend. He is protective and caring without being overbearing. He's sensitive and a complete softie when it comes to the little's in Leah's life. Leah, my heart hurt for her, one person shouldn't have to go though as much loss as her, but she was so strong and never gave up. The two of them blended perfectly, and their relationship progressed slow and steady as it should for two people weighted down by grief. When they take the step into a physical relationship, it's slow and full of love and tenderness.

"there was an intimacy , a closeness between them, that she'd never imagined possible."

The Wicked Aftermath,
like all of Melissa Foster's romances, have a strong family/friend unit that is always there for a lending hand or a shoulder to learn on. I also must mention the two little ladies that stole my heart. Junie and Rosie where ridiculously precious and every interaction between them and Tank will melt your heart.

The Wicked Aftermath
by Melissa Foster is a story of found family, loss, grief, and love. A romance filled with pancake breakfasts, puppy kisses, hiking adventures, and bedtime snuggles.

This is where I was when I realized tears were streaming down my face. I think I started crying even before that but I was so caught up in the story it didn't even register.

"The trick is to stack up the good moments, so when the bad ones hit, you remember why you're pushing forward."

Tank and Lee will make you cry. They have lost. They are lost. But there are two little girls who need them and it may just be their innocence, sweet comments, names for things, and love that gets them to through the darkness. From now on tattoos and nipple piercings will remind me of Rosie and Junie.

"Every picture tells a stowy."
"Me want booby wings!"

This is a biker book. Tank wears the vest, belongs to the club, rides the bike but he is unlike any biker I have read before. He isn't an alphahole. He isn't crass. He doesn't smartmouth. This guy is huge and tatted and bearded and the gentlest soul around. His actions towards kids, women, family and his "brothers" will melt you just a little (or a lot).

"Baby, don't you know how I feel about you? YOu don't have to try to be sexy. It's innate. It's in your eyes, your smile, the way you roll your lower lip into your mouth. It's how you mother the girls and weather storms for them."

I wasn't expecting this one from the Wickeds but I loved every minute.

🎧🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧🎧

I remember reading this story back in 2021 and I was gutted by it all then and today I am an emotional mess once again. When you read as much as I do, if there’s a gap of 3 years between one read and the next, it’s bound to feel somewhat fresh, but this was more. I knew I’d be emotional, but the performance by Aiden Snow & Jennifer Mack brought out the emotion of not just the characters, but the storyline itself, ten-fold! It was in “living color” and vivid AF and I pretty much was ALL up in my feelings from beginning to end! What an incredible pair these two made!

I feel like I’ve been saying this since the beginning of time LOL but Melissa Foster has incredible talent. I’m not sure there has ever been a story I have not felt deep in my bones when I read it. I always feel like I’m inside the world she’s writing and experiencing all of the good, bad, and in-between! I am always up in my feelings in one way or another and it is a pleasure being there because she writes stories full of family, friendship, love & hope, and she never skirts around circumstances and represents them respectfully.

This story broke my heart as much as it made it soar and I love that I got to experience it as an ebook and audiobook. I can’t really tell you that one is better than the other, because I loved them both, but I know that if you prefer one way over the other, either way you’re gonna come out a winner!

Thank you, Melissa, for providing an ALC for an honest review!

The Wicked Aftermath gripped me by the throat from the first page and left me with a big book hangover. It's a slightly different story than we're used to from Melissa Foster. Through the story, there is more heartbreak, the emotions are deeper and rawer, the characters deal with deep-rooted pain, grief, and guilt. But don't let that fool you, The Wicked Aftermath isn't a sad story because it's also about moving on, allowing yourself to be happy, and learning to live without that important person. There are plenty of funny moments with happiness and laughter, and in true Melissa Foster style, we catch up with plenty of characters from previous books.
Melissa Foster has a way with words that make you feel everything the characters feel. Even with this heavier topic, it is still easy to read, and I could still imagine the story in my head.

Tank and Leah's feelings were very familiar to me, as they will for many people. There is an important lesson to learn from this story about acceptance and moving on. At some point in our life, we all experience losing a loved one.

Tank is a God, he isn't only hot AF, but he also is so good-hearted and kind, attentive, helpful. I love how he cared for and loved Leah and her chickadees and how he guided them through their grief.
Before starting this book, I thought Leah would be this shy, broken bird, but I was wrong. What a strong, courageous woman. As I got to know her, I fell in love with her, and she was perfect for Tank.
I enjoyed the toddler's antics and how naturally the relationship with Tank progressed. I liked how realistic the authors portrayed Rosie and Junie in their good but also their bad moments.

The Wicked Aftermath is a remarkable story, one of a kind. It has traveled through my heart right into the core of my soul, where it touched me and left a mark. Reading this book is an experience I won't forget anytime soon.

I received an ARC from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily

Can I just jump into the middle of the Wicked family right here, right now please?!?! The amount of care, love, and support they give to those who need it just oozes off the pages when reading, so much so that I want to feel it in real life. They are so careful not to over step boundaries yet foresee every possible need and they deal with things in such a sensitive way.

One lady who comes under their radar is Leah. Leah and Tank's interest in each other has been lingering for a while but they haven't yet taken the next step, although fate has a way of making things happen. The emotions Leah found herself going through felt so genuine that they completely stirred my heart, or maybe the book and my heart were connected through bluetooth because that's how it felt lol. Her inner battle of wanting to be alone, shut off from the world to handle things in her own way, against starting to appreciate the enormous offer of unrelenting kindness from those around her felt so real. The support and love she didn't even realize she needed gave her that unfamiliar feeling of being happy to accept the help on offer and in the end turned out to be life changing for her. And when she started to look for Tank behind the curtains created butterflies in my stomach. Such sensitivity was remarkable to read.

There's a big dipper in this emotional roller coaster of a romance, there are also many beautiful touching moments, and happy moments between all characters. And just when you're hooked Melissa brings those little extra things into the story that makes your heart swell even more, creating an even bigger impact. Tank's moments with Leah and her A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E little girls, and the things he does are so moving, it really warms your heart as his soft side comes alive again with a sense of healing after so many years of grief over his sister.

Oh and that's even before I got absolutely hot and flustered over a kiss, a kiss, never in this world, but I did! When that happened I knew I was going to be in for one hot read and Melissa certainly didn't disappoint me at all in that area. I mean just look at the book cover, the softness in those eyes, this gentle giant definitely makes you melt.

So many occasions I found myself smiling whilst reading this book, other times I read the more it pulled at my poor heart, more and then oh a bit more, pieces of heart being torn away as Melissa penned away. I'm not quite sure how an author can write with such emotion and continue to the end of the story, it's quite an achievement.

I was left knowing I had read a very special story that will stay with me for some time to come and I think Tank has become my favorite fictional man, sorry Tru, sorry Quincy!

(Received an ARC and voluntarily reviewing)

Like the blurb says, this book starts off with a tragic car accident. While that and several other moments are sad, a significant part is very lighthearted and funny, due to the adorable children. If you're a fan of single parent romances, I highly recommend reading this book just for the cute factor and the steamy love scenes. Yes, it is part of a series and features appearances by other characters, but a lot of it is just background. You don't really need to know about them to enjoy the story. All you need to know is that it's a woman who falls in love with biker and that there are cute kids involved. That's enough to get me to read it.

The Wicked Aftermath is book two of The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside.

Shy and quiet Leah has been a mystery for Tank; always nervous around him, Leah seems almost afraid of Tank. What Tank doesn’t know is that Leah senses his deep sadness and it makes it hard for her to breath when she’s near him.

This story is filled with a mix of joy and grief. Tank and Leah are brought together through unexpected circumstances; add to this two adorable little girls and this story may have you reaching for the box of tissues. It certainly had been wiping my eyes very early on in the narrative.

I did enjoy this book and I look forward to the next one in the series.

Family bonds

Benson 'Tank' Wicked is a fierce protector who is still grieving the loss of his sister. Leah is a new waitress at his parents restaurant, she lives with her younger brother and his two girls that she adopted. Tragedy befalls them and that's where the crying started for me. This book was so powerful, emotional, intensely romantic and utterly perfect. Melissa Foster has certainly outdone herself with this book and it is without a doubt my favourite of her books so far.

I absolutely knew when I first met Tank his story was going to be an emotional one. Add in Leah and her story and these two took me on a rollercoaster of emotions I happily stayed on the very beautiful end. This story was more than the beautiful love story. This story encompassed the word family; the memories, the love, the protectiveness and the future. I believe Tank and Leah needed each other to heal and they deserved a happily ever after.

This book was everything thing I love about the romance genre. Melissa weaved beautiful words of hope, joy and love making me fall for these characters and this exquisite book.

I look forward to more beautiful words in this series.

I thought this was going to be a lighthearted read but this book surprised me. This was an emotional story filled with loss, grief, hope and love. Tank is book boyfriend material how he swooped in for Leah and the girls. I just loved how much their well-being mattered to him.

"I'd hold my breath if it meant Leah could breath."

Leah has lost her little brother and best friend. Coincidentally Tank was the one who tried to save him. Leah is trying to make it and not let the grief swallow her up whole. Tank and his extended family are constantly there for Leah and her girls. Tank knows the pain Leah is going through because he lost his younger sister too. As they begin to spend more time together their feelings start to grow. Tank realizes he has fallen in love with Leah and her girls. He wants to take care of them lessen her burden. This was a heavy book but it was done really well. I loved how all of Tank's family accepted Leah and her girls so easily. Great characters and a storyline that will definitely stick with me!

"You don't have to try to be sexy. It's innate. It's in your eyes, your smile, the way you roll your lower lip into your mouth. It's how you mother the girls and weather storms for them."

"I'm falling hard for you darlin', and every day those feelings get bigger."

Tank and Leah we’re both deeply caring and incredibly guarded people from what life has handed them over the years and when they meet they aren’t that comfortable with how strong there connection is, they have obligations and don’t want anything getting in the way. This was such a good story

Wicked Aftermath is book two of The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside Series. This is a friends to lovers, MC romance and can be read as a complete standalone. The story focuses on Benson "Tank" Wicked and Leah Yates.

Tank is an alpha male with a BIG heart. He's loyal, family oriented, savy, strong, and committed. He's also very observant and has a knack for reading people. He makes it his priority to help others, especially Leah since he can relate to her grief. Leah is a single mom just trying to survive. She's hard working, selfless, caring, and devoted to taking care of her family. She had to grow up fast and didn't have the typical life experiences compared to others her age.

Although their journey was powerful enough to shred your heart it also gives you the feeling of love, hope, faith, family, and strength. Tank and Leah are kindred spirits. Life's events, no matter how devastating, lead them right where they where meant to be; with each other.

This is the first time I've read a book by Melissa Foster and WOW! Talk about impact. This book is a slow burn and emotionally charged. Anyone who's had to face loss can relate to the grief and how suffocating and debilitating it can feel, especially when unexpected. It made me think about my own past experiences and made feel raw. Too bad we all can't be lucky enough to have our very own Tank or Wicked family to help us along.

TW: Deuil, accident, mort, suicide, drogue

Emotional Rollercoaster

This is part of a series of connected books about one family and the MC they are part of. The book stands alone and there is no cliffhanger.

Tank Wicked is a tattoo artist, as big as his namesake and determined to rescue everyone that needs saving, which includes working as a volunteer firefighter a few times a month. He’s self contained and a man of little words and fewer smiles. He’s never recovered from losing his little sister and it’s kept him from ever really connecting with women. He adores his family and brothers in the MC, but he’s never met a woman who can break down his walls.

Leah has been working as a waitress at the Wicked family bar/restaurant for a few months and she’s enjoying the job, and the tips even more. She’s very private and self-contained. She lives with her younger brother, who she has raised since when she was 18, and his two daughters that she adopted as he was still a teenager when his girlfriend had them. They’ve only been in the area for a few months after moving from the South in a need to have a change.

When tragedy strikes Tank is there for Leah and her little family, along with the rest of the Wickeds and the Dark Knights MC. When Leah started working for the Wickeds she came under their protection and she gets to see what that means the instant she needs them.

In the first 40% of this book, I think I outright bawled my eyes out at least three times. I was so sad for Leah and her family but I was also really moved by the lovely things Tank and his family did for her. It made me wish there were people like that around everyone.

As the book moved on the tears came less and the laughter and love grew more and more. This little instant family warmed my heart so much and the descriptions of the girls were just so funny and sweet I melted a bit.

These characters are wonderful. Tank is this big old teddy bear and Leah is a sweet and generous woman who’ll do anything for her family. There are a few little bumps on the road to the HEA but on the whole, the latter part of the book is filled with a successful romance. All the tears come in the front of the book and by the end, I was smiling like a fool.

I do love these Wicked books. This family is so strong and give so much to those around them you can’t help but love them even knowing they don’t exist.

This is a book to read if you need to have a bit of a cry followed by something to make you smile, because it’s all in this one book.
