Time has moved on since the days when - desperate and homeless - Pearl Harrison saved Justin Walker's life and now her own has been transformed into something she never believed possible.
Embraced within the loving arms of Justin, Ellen and their whole family, Pearl has never been happier. Having known nothing but pain and loneliness, Pearl's days are now filled with joy and laughter. Her life is complete, she wants for nothing, but on the night of her eighteenth birthday, everything changes again forever.
Carter Jackson is smart, wealthy and stunningly beautiful and when he sweeps Pearl off her feet, she is powerless to resist him. How could she possibly? He's everything she could ever want - he's perfect.
Isn't he?
Pearl falls hard, but the closer she gets to Carter, the more time she spends in his company, dark seeds of doubt begin to germinate in her mind. He comes from a wealthy, difficult family, whose ties are strong, but is he also a man full of secrets? Their relationship begins to feel the strains of Pearl's doubts and, as her fears begin to multiply, a violent confrontation with a member of Carter's family puts further pressure on their love. When Pearl overhears a shocking conversation not for her ears, she begins to realise that Carter Jackson is not only dangerous to her heart. He's so much more than that...
In Dark, the blistering fourth book in the six book Angel Series, although true love can be as strong as steel, there are betrayals that will stretch the most resilient of bonds between a man and a woman to breaking point. Can Pearl and Carter's torturous love survive, or is there no way back?
We still have Justin to drool over, but - oh, my goodness - Carter!!!!! Lucky, lucky Pearl. This book is very much a story of love, but still with the underlying suspense of the first three books in the series. Pearl has come of age, and her happy life with Justin and Ellen sees her doing really well for herself. All she needs is a man who she can trust just as much as she does Justin - and along comes Carter. Boy, does it get hot. The pages sizzle. I won't spoil the ending, but it certainly leaves you desperate to read the next book in the series.
