Welcome to Hawkwood Hollow, where the dead outnumber the living.
When a local witch shows up in an apparent drowning, everyone thinks it's a tragic accident. New witch in town Maura would, too, except her Reaper senses are telling her there's something not quite right about the woman's death.
When the victim's ghost vanishes, she knows her instincts were right. Unfortunately, her attempt to find the truth is derailed by an annoying spirit who's moved into her room and an obstructionist coven leader. And then there's the detective she might be interested in romantically… assuming she doesn't ruin things by bringing out her terrifying Reaper powers.
Elle Adams lives in the middle of England, where she spends most of her time reading an ever-growing mountain of books, planning her next adventure, or writing. Elle's books are humorous mysteries with a paranormal twist and tons of magical mayhem.
She also writes urban and contemporary fantasy novels as Emma L. Adams.
I enjoyed this one almost as much as the first one. The mystery was well paced and the story kept me interested the whole way through. I love the characters, although I am tiring of her brother’s antics. Maura is settling into town well and finding her place. The murder(s) had me guessing until the end and the reasoning for it was so twisted! Can’t wait to read the next!
Let Sleeping Ghosts Lie is Book 2 in the Reaper Witch Mystery series. I loved this book! Maura is starting to settle in until she has to deal with the local coven and its not so nice leader. This story is perfectly written and the characters are so well written. The mystery is multi-folded and I was guessing the whole time. I read this book in one sitting, that's how great it is! I love this new series and look forward to the next in the series!!!
Apart from a nagging detail about Drew, I loved this second adventure of Maura and co. This series has everything I love in a paranormal cozy and is definitely among my top ten series in the genre.
👂🏻 This is a fun and decently well written series. Moira is a no nonsense 1/2 reaper 1/2 witch. And now she lives in a town overrun with ghosts. She’s just trying to live her life, date the hot Detective Drew, and not get into too much trouble. But, trouble has a way of finding her.
Entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Nora a half which and half Grim Reaper has left her life in the supernatural world behind. She stumbles through the human world doing odd jobs and just barely getting bye and staying out of trouble and keeping her head low. Every once in a while she takes a job helping with ghost problems in the supernatural world just to make extra money. And one such occasion she goes back to a supernatural town to help rid the town of a vengeful ghost causing problems and havoc in town. She meets new friends and along with her ghost twin brother gets a job at a local in or doing a little bit of ghost hunting on the side. She tends to always get involved in helping the local detective solve murders and other crimes due to the fact that she can see and talk to all the ghosts. Very entertaining check it out
I really like the characters in this series, except for the bratty brother. I hope Maura can find some sort of spell that can help him age along with her. Even though I don't like him, I think the author's characterization of a not still boy/not quite man 18 year old is spot on. In fact, all the characters have distinct and well developed personalities. I love the innkeeper and her ghost hunting daughter. I really wanted to pour a bucket of water on the leader of the coven. The makes a great antagonist. The setting is so well described that I can easily picture the sadness and sense of abandoment and neglect of the town. It's really kind of depressing. I thought the mystery was very well done and kept me guessing. I wonder if "the one who got away" will be found and brought to justice or return to cause strife and seek revenge.
We head back to Hawkwood Hollow, England, for a dose of ghosts and mayhem with Reaper Witch Maura and her ghostly brother Mart. This time, Maura and her teenage friend Carey, are ghost hunting when Maura senses a death. Turns out, a local witch died under mysterious circumstances, and Detective Drew asks Maura for her help. All kinds of shenanigans ensue, with coven controversy, ghostly mischief, and a few people certainly trying to cover up their misdeeds!
It’s a fun paranormal cosy mystery, set in a spooky English town, with a colourful cast of characters. Maura is beginning to settle in to this new life, and there is even a little hint of romance brewing. We get to see some great examples of reaper abilities this time, as well as some witchy ones.
A thoroughly enjoyable cosy mystery, with a paranormal twist for those who enjoy magical murders.
Maura's unique skillset is useful once again. But it's not the ghost of Harriet the victim who appears, instead it's Mandy Dawson who returns some 4 years after her own death. Not only that but she's terrified and wants Maura to protect her but she's not got a clue how she died.
With Maura going to a coven meeting and running up against Mina Devlin, it's dictatorial head, and being made unwelcome all round she's suspicious enough, but then Mina takes the body and most of the evidence claiming it is coven business.
What is Mina hiding and how has she remained in power for 20 years?
I'm really enjoying this series! I listened to this one on audio today and finished it in a day!!!
This time Maura and her ghostly brother, Mart, investigate the murder of a local witch. Not all is at it seems, especially with the powerful coven leader.
I love the world building in this series. It's unique and not like other paranormal mysteries I've read - the same for the Library Witch mysteries - which operate in the same world, but a different magical town. I highly recommend this series!!
This book 2 of the Reaper Witch Mystery series is a fun paranormal cozy mystery that I give 4 1/2 stars. set in the spooky English town of Hawk wood Hollow, Maura and her associated colorful cast of characters are involved in solving two mysterious deaths, possibly linked to an older case. With ghostly encounters and a variety of shenanigans, Maura navigates Coven politics, frightened ghosts, and her possibly new romance with the local police detective. Thoroughly enjoyable!
Maura is trying to make a place for herself in Hawkwood Hollow, but the challenges keep piling up! I like these characters for the most part, and the mystery is managed well. I'm ready for Maura's backstory and the reason for her complex relationship with her rather obnoxious brother, Mart. I also look forward to Carey's development. And there never was an explanation for Maura's partial reawakening...Can't wait to get to Book Three!
I never saw that one coming. What a great mystery, so many unexpected events. Some I did suspect, but it didn't quite work out the way I thought it was going to. I think Drew the detective is a great guy. I also think Mart needs to mature a little, or find himself a ghost girlfriend so he is not so dependent on his sister. But he makes a good contrast with all the niceness going on.
I would recommend this series. The characters are very good. Mart is weirdly funny. Maura is a good witch/reaper and cares a lot even though she says she is not a people person. Love all the characters and can't wait to see what happens next.
Rory is growing into her witch skills and working at the Library. Choosing her wand is the next step in her training and is quite dismayed to not find a wand that binds to her. When the library is cursed wand or no Rory and her family must solve the mystery or lose the library
Maura and Mart are back and once again, involved in solving some murders along with the police chief. It was a fun story, I love the characters and the whole town is a delight.
Interesting story line, didn't figure out who murder guilty person was until the end. I like the development of the characters. Looking forward to the next in the series
Do you like ghost stories? This is the series for you. A town where the ghosts outnumber the living. There's murders to solve, a good who done it. And what about the handsome shifter.
Adam’s Reaper Witch series never disappoints! This time around, Maura solves not one, but two murders. Things are looking up for her as she settles in to her adopted town, or are they? Read the book and find out: you won’t be disappointed!
I really enjoyed the book. I looked forward to reading it every time and I stayed up late to finish reading it. Fun characters, good mystery. Read the series, you'll enjoy it.
Cozy mystery with a paranormal twist. A well written book with good character development, and the solutions are logical without being predictable. I'm looking forward to the next book!
I enjoyed the second book in this series as much as I enjoyed the first. Good characters, interesting and fun ghostly mystery, and lots of magic. I'm eager to see what else is in store for Maura, Mart, Drew, and Carey.
Book two is even better than book one, which was fantastic. The characters are evolving, and the plots are interesting. I can't wait to read the next book!
I'm absolutely loving these lovely little ghost murder mysteries, as well as throughly enjoying the world building and character development within the series. Very enjoyable. Onto the next!
Such a good tale of Ghost and Witches. The Reaper/Witch was brilliant. Then right at the end the Detective ( Drew ) finally let her know he was interested in more than her reaping and witchy skills. Hope all that goes well. Hope her Brother finds a good Ghost himself.
After reading the first two books in this series, I can say that I will definitely not continue with the series. Maura's character has no personality and the storyline is flat and feels impersonal.
Book 2 has the same main characters as Book 1, but is almost completely about 2 murders and witches. There is murder, attempted murder, danger, loads of magic, deceit, humor, and ghosts. Highly entertaining.
