You know, I've never actually read this story or any version of it until now. It's not one I grew up with. It kinda has the same sort of vibe as The Sword and the Stone. It was good, but nothing amazing. I wonder how I would have felt about it as a kid.
I have never heard any 'Sorcerer's apprentice' stories, but have heard OF them. his one I would read to 4th and fifth grade children, because of the word "idiot". The plot itself was okay, although I do not really come to like any of the characters. I don't feel anything for them at the end of the book. It's not HORRIBLE, but it's not something it would not be my first pick to read to kids.
This was a library book my son brought home that we read together.
The story was a great take on a classic tale. The illustrations were vibrant and kept my son paying close attention to the detail. As a parent I especially appreciated the subtle math placed in the story.
Not a bad little story, not unlike the other stories with the same title. This one having a robot apprentice was a nice twist on the traditional story though. The illustrations are nice too.
