As a self-proclaimed television junkie and an avid reader, Sheryl Steines writes what she loves. From the character/relationship story from one of her writing inspirations (Judy Blume), to the fantastical world of magic and mayhem in another inspiration (J.K. Rowling), to the strong female character of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sheryl uses the world of magic and mystery, mashed with a bit of detective work, to weave a story of women who face challenges, overcoming them with dignity and honesty, using her own challenges as inspiration.
Sheryl has written two books in her Wizard Hall Chronicles series (The Day of First Sun and Black Market) and working on a new series, The Empaths (Gracie Madison Feels the World). Both series introduce the reader to young women battling demons of the supernatural kind and the personal kind, each fighting to find their way.
Sheryl Steines has been writing since she was seven years old, since she picked up her first Nancy Drew novel and hasn’t stopped. When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found tooling around in her convertible, supporting causes and raising her kids, dealing with extra ordinary challenges. I've followed this series since the beginning and this ending did everything it should. It brought suspense, gave a closure to the series, as well as making me a little irritated. But in a good way. :) There were definitely a couple of moments that hit hard emotionally as well, so I think it was a satisfying conclusion. Can't wait to see what's next from the author.
So finally after reading the 4 books in the wizard hall chronicles series, I was completely fascinated to read the 5th and the final part Rise of the Black Market. By the time I have reached the final part, now even I have become a part of the Wizard Guard in my Dreams.
The fifth part starts when Annie is finally back from the past, she is not well but the determination of the work brings her back to the world of Black Market. It was very emotional to read out her days with his father, finally she was able to relive her childhood which she would have definitely missed. Well the read got intense when finally she met Sturtagaard again in the black market, where he claimed to know about a new portal. Finally all the wizard guards united to though! The old enemies were in search of the Ultimate powers that Annie has. Annie and her team is back into the world of King Solomon. Really it was very difficult for Annie to face the problems and situations that she would have never faced in her lifetime.
It’s a must read to know how Annie and her wizard council faced the Dangerous forces vying for dominance of the Black Market. Sheryl’s writing has really made us think and crafting the lives of Annie, her family and the entire wizard guards in our brains. It was a terrific end to this series. All the mystery and wizard lovers don’t miss out to read the Wizard Hall Chronicles series.
From the very first chapter, I could tell this was going to be more than just another magical adventure it was the emotional crescendo of everything Annie Pearce has fought for. The pacing is impeccable intense, urgent, yet deeply personal. The way the author balances world shattering stakes with Annie’s inner turmoil is masterful. I loved how the story explored loyalty and betrayal through family ties; the moment Annie discovers who’s been sent after her absolutely broke me. The action scenes are vivid, cinematic, and pulse pounding, but it’s the heart of the story Annie’s determination to do what’s right, no matter the cost that lingers long after the last page. A breathtaking conclusion to the Wizard Hall Chronicles.
So, this is like a mixture of urban fantasy and sci-fi. The first time I’ve ever read anything like it. I think it works as well as it could do. Another slow burner and then goes through the gears. Recommended read.
