Bad habits. I have a lot of them. Biting my nails, gluing my eyes to my phone, making bad decisions, loving men I can never actually have. The last one is the worst. It's the one I can't shake. My need for revenge lead me to my greatest weakness. him: The epitome of unnatainable men. I became dependent on his love. Addicted to it. It hurt me but also made me better. I was his secret and he was mine. Then you showed up, and your bitter reminder couldn't be chased away by the sweet kisses of forbidden lips. I was never your secret, but you were always mine. I wanted to forget about you, but maybe I wasn't supposed to.
I had no idea Jos and Gio’s story would play out like this. I was pretty surprised at this plotline but I guess the Laguna siblings have similar tastes (; But Jos story and her reasoning was a lot sadder and darker.
I did love the role Gio took in her life and how he wanted to help her with whatever was going on in her life. And how he didn’t let his and Trenton’s friendship get in the way of him and Jos happening once again.
I won’t say much else because I’ll risk spoiling things for you and we don’t want that. But yeah, this is similar yet also very different from Between Us. It’s still angsty, sexy and a bit frustrating. I did not get Jos half the time and how far she let things go. It made me sad, I wished she had done something about her situation sooner, I wish she had loved herself enough to say enough and leave that situation. I really did but knowing her past and her present, I get why she didn’t, why she believed and hoped for the best outcome. And how the story all came together in the end wow. Cheyenne really made that something. I had not been expecting that at all and it was definitely a surprising, sad yet fantastic detail to the plot.
Now I’m even more excited for the next book which was just announced this week, After Us which will be Marina’s book.

it was more plot focused rather than the romance but I was hooked from the very beginning and loved the forbidden-ness of the book (in more ways than one, wink wink)
I would've liked to see the build between Gio and Joselyn's love a little more but I loved the ending and that Scott got what he deserved
⭐️3.5 I devoured this book. The forbidden twist in this story made things so much more crazy, however, some parts of the story was rushed and I just wished we had more details or an explanation about things, especially the ending. If this was a duo then I think I would have loved this story more.
