This was so darn cute. Like totally adorable and I lived for every second of it. I can't believe I waited this long reading it. It's totally over the top, very fast paced and short which meant that some things happened a little too fast or got glossed over. But who cares when it puts a huge smile on your face, right?

I'm so glad Daryl decided to continue on with the Boys & Toys series, the first season was so entertaining and really did read like a tv serial.
Connor's a charming little farm-fresh Kansas boy ready to take on the world! I liked that this book was told solely from his point of view, while still giving us an introduction and peek into the rest of the boys. He was the sweetest thing, with such high hopes for his future in the big city! I was worried it would eat him up and spit him back out, as bright eyed and innocent as he seemed. But Connor was determined to make a life there for himself, and even though he hit a bit of a rough patch I was glad to see it didn't hold him down for long.
Although the romance between Connor and Alan did move pretty fast, it didn't feel forced and I thought they were *insert another word for sweet here* together.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the boys' stories- Daryl's definitely built interest with just the quick glimpses we got of each of them in Connor's book.

So happy to be back in the Boys & Toys World. Daryl Banner brings us a fun window into the young and hip (and maybe not so hip) world of Mayville (affectionately known as Gayville or the gayborhood). 4 new main characters to tweak our curiousities and even more characters to both love and dislike. Short, sweet, sexy and just plain fun. I loved Connor from the minute I met him and Alan....who would have expected him ever? Looking forward to learning more about that beautiful Dante, the illusive but interesting Zak and of course...will Brett ever grow up?

Holy Hellz Yes!

I love Connor and Alan and the rest of the gang. This season is going to be so dang fun. I was a little worried about the single POV, but it worked so well.

I binged this book so hard. I was sucked into this story and when we came upon a situation my brain was like "DO IT!". But, it all worked out in the end.

I kind of had my suspicions about Alan for a bit and then I was like "I knew it!".

This book is a total must read. You do not need to read Season 1 to enjoy Season 2. But, you would be sorely missing out on another fantastic read from Daryl.

A shorter book but no less wonderful, Daryl Banner gives us a great little summer read with Connor. A new season of Boys & Toys, I really enjoyed watching the country boy from Kansas make his way in a big city. Connor is a good man, and his life goes from zero to sixty almost overnight as he fumbles his way through a new life with new friends and a new job.

I liked that Banner didn't waste time and got right to the point showing us the ups and downs of starting starting this new adventure. Between the crazy he finds with his new roommate in Brett, the fierce competition he is forced to deal with daily with Jay, and the great guy he found almost by accident with Alan, Connor has his hands full. But even within a shorter read, there is a ton of excitement, a few sweet scenes and the inevitable sexy that makes this book complete.

A true refreshing respite from the heavier reads, grab Connor, set up a seat poolside and enjoy this well-written and engaging book. I truly enjoyed it and give it a solid 4 stars!

Endearing tale of a Kansas twink pursuing his dream in the big city.

4 solid stars!

Conner, a country boy from Kansas, arrives in the city to take a position as an intern to the owner of a prestigious media firm. He meets a friendly man named Alan at the airport and shares an Uber ride with him. It is lust and heat at first sight, but neither act upon their feelings.

Conner is moving in with Brett to cut his expenses. Brett is a carefree party animal. Conners' "living" area consists of bedroom that was once a closet Brett converted, sort of, into a bedroom that happens to be directly off the kitchen!

Conners' first day on the job contains many surprises. As an intern, he isn't being paid. His fellow nine interns take an immediate dislike of him because he works for the boss, supposedly. He discovers this isn't the case. One specific intern, Jay, is particularly hostile towards Conner, cutting him down every chance he gets.

Now unable to pay his half of the rent, Conner stumbles into a male strip club for some liquid fortification on the way home. Soon, he has a paying job there as a "shot boy," delivering shots to the customers for tips.

Things at work go steadily downhill day after day. The other interns make Conner the "coffee boy," led by Jay. His immediate supervisor, Brenda, always finds fault with his work.
One night at the club, Jay enters with some friends. Conner is mortified and asks permission to leave early. But he wonders why Jay, Mr. Straight-laced, is in a gay club.
Conner is given permission to leave for the night.

The next day at work, Jay drops several sarcastic and derogatory remarks about Conner being gay and working as a "queer shot boy" in a rundown male strip club. Conner rushes to the men's restroom is anger and shame. Jay follows him and Conner threatens to out him to the entire company. Jay readily admits he is gay, and everyone already knows it.

After a particularly horrid day at work, Conner receives a text from Alan, who he has been secretly dating. The text reads, "We need to talk."

As Conner has read the text, once again hiding in the men's restroom, Jay enters and confesses that he doesn't want Conner to quit because Conner has more talent than he does, and he wants to win the head internship fair and square. Before leaving the building, Conner is summoned to the boss' office.

The boss has heard how Conner has been being treated and tells him he both admires and respects his work. He wants Conner to stay with the company but gives him some time to make a decision.

Finally being allowed to leave the office, Conner sees Alan in the lobby. As Alan begins to explain his email, Conner stops him by saying he already knows who Alan is - the boss' son! While in the owners' office, Conner saw a photo of Alan on his desk and finally put the pieces together.

After this, Alan and Conners' relationship blossoms. Conner stays on with the company, eventually beating Jay for the top intern spot, with pay.

Other plot lines take place concurrently with other minor characters, but the overall story concerns Conner, Alan and Jay. The authors' style of writing makes for a pleasant flow to the tale and the feelings Mr. Banner instills almost force you to become engaged in not only the plot, but the characters as well. Every book I have read by this wonderful author delivers some manner of mortality lesson, which is rare in m/m books today. This story is low heat, high angst and personal issues. I look forward to reading more from this writer.

I was so excited for the 2nd season of ‘Boys n Toys’. I was not disappointed. I LOVED. Connor. Small town boy ready to take on the big city. We are introduced to a new cast of characters who I can’t wait to learn more about. Not to mentions the fantastically named club Aubergines ;). I loved Connor’s honesty, sweetness and determination. He imbibes all that is good and true, sometimes to his detriment. This story is sweet and funny and just what I needed. Can’t wait for the next one.

What a quick, sweet romance from Daryl Banner as he continues his Boys & Toys summer series. Conner is new to the big City and ready to make his mark. He never expected his "mark" to start as he literally steps off the plan and into an Uber with a sexy mysterious man. I enjoyed Conner's introduction to the "Boys" and watching as he navigates his new world for building a relationship, gaining experience and his life in general. This is a lighthearted, almost coming of age, story that will have you laughing (at least I did on several occasions) and swooning.

Connor just arrives in town and is completely out of his element. He meets Alan at the airport and is shocked that he met someone so fast and that the guy is really hot to boot. As Connor deals with a new roommate, Brett, who thinks he is still in a frat, to interning at what he thought was his dream job, to working in a strip club to pay the rent he can't help but wonder if Alan is the real deal. As he navigates life with his new friends can things with Alan get any better?

This will be the fun summer of roommates from Piazza Place

Although he had a few bumps along the way, everything happens just the way it’s supposed to. I loved this book and look forward to the rest of the boys of this season of Boys & Toys!

Overall it’s a sweet romance with little anguish and drama with workplace competition, friends and roommates. Secrets can be a good thing but can they also change you life?? Out of the few stories I’ve read from Daryl none of them ever were disappointed One, they were great reads.

Ahh!! I love me some Boys & Toys!
There's a perfect amount of laughs, embarrassment, sexy times, sickenly sweet mushy love stuff, spiteful a-holes, and side characters I can't wait to learn more about!
This is a great short read to improve upon my week, month, year!
I think I might go back for a re-read on Boys & Toys Part 1 until the next installment of Boys &Toys Part 2 is ready.

Quick read, very enjoyable.

I had not read anything by this authors but after reading this book I am ready to read more. The characters are well developed and the relationships have a real possibility. I prefer reading stories that seem like they could really happen. I did feel like Connor was seriously under prepared for his move.

TL;DR: Daryl continues to be the master of his craft. I’m still an addict for it and I regret nothing 😁

Normally, I don’t read novellas. The few I’ve read in the past have left me with a sense of dissatisfaction that could not be ignored. And in addition, a feeling of disappointment not only for myself but also for the author. Their novellas could have been superb if only they were longer... providing the needed room for world building, character development, intriguing dialogue, etc. But of course... Daryl’s gotta go and mess that all up. In hindsight... I should have known this, as that beautiful man has never disappointed me lol.

From the first chapter, he creates such a vivid scene in your head, it’s as if you’re truly there as the main character themselves. Clean, crisp and concise... he weaves his magic and produces a wonderful tale that intrigues you and keeps your interest throughout. No filler... always moving forward with carefully crafted and fluid progression.

His introduction of secondary characters is absolutely spectacular. Using a minimal amount of sentences, he presents the ability to not only give you a solid description of each character but entices you enough to be instantly invested in them, wanting to know these characters’ stories immediately. He can accomplish in a few well placed sentences what many authors take pages to achieve.

As much as I wanted to know what happened to Connor and Alan throughout the story... I found myself already anticipating the next book. Will it be about Brett and *spoiler* coming back? Or Lex and his huge crush on *spoiler*? Perhaps we finally get to see why *spoiler* acts the way he does around *spoiler*. I need the next book somethin’ fierce!

Oh no! But that’s not all! Then Daryl proceeds to torture you with physical pain. He makes your chest ache from anticipation as well as a little angst. He makes your face hurt from smiling, not only at the humorous bits and the characters that provide them but also for the glowing sense of happiness and contentment. In the current times we are facing... everyone needs a little happy in their lives. And Daryl is the man to give us what we need.

I really enjoyed my time reading Connor's book by Daryl Banner. Connor was a sweet, bright, and entertaining character who has grabbed life by the horns and left Kansas for his first crack at a career. With his roommate Brett, they have some fun times with Brett's friends at the bars they love to frequent.
So many quotes to share; Daryl's writing is exceptional and I love the way he weaves his words and the way his character's emotions show as you are reading.
"He slowly takes me in with his soft eyes, one curious spoonful at a time."
"I've only been here ten seconds and already know this place is exactly what's missin' from my life."
"He releases my lips with his eyes still closed, as if slowly savoring the last tendril of a dream."
I always look forward to reading new releases by this talented author.

Connor is the first book in the Boys & Toys Season 2. This second series is about a new group of friends so if you haven't read the first Boys & Toys series it will not impact your enjoyment of this book, but I recommend you read the first season anyway.

This book is a light-hearted, fun, country-boy moved to big city story, highlighting the new relationships Connor makes as part of that journey, including friendships, work colleagues and romantic.

As usual Daryl Banner develops his characters to make you feel and empathise with them. And feel and empathise you will. We can all relate to the feelings Connor experiences, not feeling good enough, wondering if you deserve something good, right through to elation when things go right.

It is a great quick read, easy to finish one go.

I highly recommend this book, and can't wait for the rest of the series.

This is either 4 or 5 stars. Quite frankly, I've lost track of how to rate books, so I'll give it 4 stars & adjust later. I really enjoyed it!

It's a cute read & a quick read. The season format... Like I feel kind of awkward calling this a book when the seeds for the other characters are already sown, but yeah, it was cute.

Like I had long gaps in-between reads on this book, and it's like it was quick reading for at least 2 of those readings so.

But yeah, the speed is partly due to the editing, which is good, but it's also like load in the next episode so I can linger by

So yeah, definitely written as an introduction, and it's cute.

connor is a journalist, so he and his coworkers will talk about editing their works... And so yeah, feels like a meta commentary, but i only picked up on it as i was writing this review, commenting about the brevity

It's always a pleasure to read Darryls book, he always has a great story to tell amd very real,  likable, sweet and/or hot MCs.
Connor is just that sweet, likable man, freshly arrived from Kansas to the big town and he's ready for anything. And with everything being new from his home to his job and friends he's in for a ride. Especially with the new crush from the airport and the rivalry at the new job.
And with what is being teased with his new friends and his new roommate I can't wait to read more about them.

I loved Connor! He comes to the big city really to work his dream job. He meets Alan at the airport while waiting on a ride to his new apartment. Alan was smitten with Connor and vice versa. Connor just tries to navigate in this new city between is job and his new roommate and apartment, which are all not what he expected. He nearly let's the stress and job stuff get to him, but he gets through it will some help from his new friends, boss and even someone unexpected. Such a great story and I loved getting to know a little about the other guys. I can't wait to read more.

Always happy to see a new Daryl Banner release, and I'm up to another season of boys-n-toys.

The first novella is a sweet, low angst rom-com, and a bit simplistic at that. There is no conflict between the... I'm reluctant to even call one of them MC, because he's barely a main character. He's more of a prop.
But Connor and his flatmate, friends and acquaintances make up for it, and there's enough troubles in Connor's life as it is.

All in all I enjoyed it, even though a bit more character development from Connor's love interest would be welcome.

All new boys, all new series. Connor is number one to grace us. He's fun, he's likable, and I'm a sucker for all the sweetness. He meets Alan at the airport just when he gets to town for his new job. A job to be determined if its everything he wants. I can already tell Brett is going to be hilarious. Love the writing and all the vivid descriptions. I can always count on a lighthearted quick read with these series of shorts. Something I was really in the mood for. Keep them coming.

Who doesn’t love little southern charm?

This is a really fun story that gives the characters a lot of room to grow and become more in the readers’ eyes. Laying such a good foundation for some of the characters while totally teasing you with the backstories for other characters, Mr. Banner has done it again with this first installment of Season 2. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Four great novellas rolled into one enjoyable package! Daryl Banner's writing is fun and easy to read. The four stories in this set each zero in on one person in a group of friends; all friends and scenes appear throughout the series, so the reader gets to know them very well. Don't miss out on an opportunity to laugh and hope--and see 4 guys find their happily ever afters!

Each book is worth buying separately, but in the discounted box set--it's a MUST READ! Don't miss out!

I love the start of “Season 2” for so many reasons. Connor is the cutest and sweetest guy to ever hit that city, I’m sure. He and Alan have such a fun flirty connection. Daryl is a master with scenes, dialogue, emotion, (everything)! Some of the funny lines ie. drunk texting are so flipping hilarious. Can’t wait for the rest of the boys stories!
