Be My Fake Fiancé #1

Love Me Like You Mean It

Rate this book
Avete mai raccontato una piccola bugia che è andata fuori controllo ma che vi ha fatto trovare il vero amore? Ah, è capitato solo a me?

This book in a word? Cute.

It was cute...and that's about it.

I liked the characters, which kept me reading, but that ending was a little bland. In my case, I prefer romances that have a little spiciness - NOT ONLY character-wise, per se
😉 but also plot-wise. It was very...neat, which kept it flowing, but I didn't get any sort of testing of the limits for my characters.

Other than that, cute idea and adorably-executed.

Making The Lie Truthful -
Aiden and Emma have been friends for years who have feelings for each other. However, they keep their relationship platonic, as they each believe their feelings won’t be reciprocated. Fortunately and unfortunately, Emma tells a lie to save face, which puts them on a rollercoaster ride that forces them to together.

This beautifully written story, shows how sometimes we don’t see what is right in front of us, until someone else points it out to us. The author made the characters come alive with funny and unbelievable moments, which were combined with cringeworthy scenes, that will leave you in shock. This is a book that you will definitely want to read.

I received an ARC of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a sweet read that involved a lie gone horribly wrong. When Emma is caught trying on a wedding dress by her high school nemesis, she spins a tale about a romantic wedding to a man madly in love with her. What happens next is a testament to the lengths people will go to keep up appearances.

Emma and Aiden find that they have to keep lying to protect the first lie (isn't that a lesson for us?) In the midst of it, they have to confront their real feelings for each other.

I like the fact that they eventually came clean but wonder how some of the resulting fallout would be resolved as this was not mentioned in the story.

I also wish they had opened up about their feelings for each other earlier so we could witness more of their romance onscreen. Overall, this was a fun read that had some funny and endearing moments.

I received an advanced reader's copy from the publishers through Reading Cave; a positive review was not required.

Laura Burton made sure to surprise us with lots of unusual ideas that rotate around Emma's head, one of which was trying on wedding dresses to soothe her depression and a hunky, New Yorker, best friend Aiden with a much too kind nature who was stunned into stepping into the role of fiance while visiting her parents through a hilarious mixup of mistakes and lies! This was such an enjoyable read for me due to the comedic aspect that I turned each page eagerly just soaking up the laughter and romance between two very generous and lovable characters. The end left me wanting more of this book.

I received an ARC copy for which I am voluntary leaving a review.

So sweet

Sweet romance with great chemistry and no sex. I absolutely loved this story. I love that this author takes the typical tropes but gives them a new twist. The characters were fun and engaging. The conflict was believable. As was the resolution. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

Emma + Aiden + lies

Reader’s Notes:

– this is book one of a series, but the others do not need to be read in order for this story to feel complete

– there are a few things said that the other character thinks of the wrong way, but that wrong way is not explained. Both of them just get quiet and when the speaking character catches up to where the other character’s mind went, they blush and more completely say what they meant

Review:

I really liked how this author portrayed the start of the fake relationship! Having the parents assume who the husband to be was funny. Especially when you then find out that everyone kinda knew that the two fake fiancés liked each other, but neither of them thought that was the case despite being told a few times.

I didn’t really get into the story straight away and I felt something was missing in the beginning of the story by the time I was finishing it (I’m not sure what) so I took off a star because of that. But overall, it was a cute and sweet story of two friends faking a relationship even though they already liked one another! ❤️

—————————————————————-

This story starts with Emma making a bet with her employer that backfires and gets her fired. In order to make herself feel better, she goes to try on wedding dresses at the bridal shop. Unfortunately that day gets worse when her high school frenemy comes in and asks her if she is also getting married. In order to save face, Emma tells a lie by saying that she is. Which, by the time she get’s home, is plastered all over social media by her frenemy. And then is told to her parents by the people in the small town back where she grew up. Oops!

Going to her best friend Aiden, Emma asks that he come with her to her parents to let them know about the lie. But when they get there, her parents are so happy that it’s Aiden that neither of them have the heart to tell them otherwise. So they go on with their charade and each time they get ready to back out of the lie, something happens to pull them back in.

Will they ever get out of the lie Emma weaved?

I'm totally and absolutely in love with Emma and Aiden.
Such a beautiful story and such a strong and true friendship.
The innocent "little" white lie that Emma tells her frienemy Shelly takes such a dimension that there seems to be no other option than to follow the plan and get married for real. So many would suffer if they didn't. The families, Aiden's future work, the children, the hospital... What a mess!
But no marriage should start with a lie. And she really likes him but doesn't want to risk their friendship. What if he doesn't feel the same?
So, she ends up using the wedding plans to help her best friend and give her a dream wedding.
She just hopes Aiden can forgive her...
Don't miss out on this beautiful story of friends to lovers...

Love Me Like You Mean It is a zany, funny, contempory romance. Laura Burton has written another outstanding book. Emma has had the worst day of her life and somehow in the mist of her crazy bad day, she gets a fake engagement to Aiden. Although Emma and Aiden try to let others know the truth, their "engagement" become more and more real. What follows is crazy funny fun! The characters are realistic and authentic and the pace is perfect. Be prepared to laugh out loud! I received an ARC for my honest review. Love Me Like You Mean It is a wonderful way to spend the day.

Fabulous romantic comedy! Can two best friends pretend to get married? Emma and Aiden have been friends for years. They have each other's backs. They tell each other their triumphs and sorrows. Emma loves trying on wedding dresses, then her frenemy from High School shows up. Who is the lucky guy? When is the wedding? Emma starts lying and then it snowballs out of control. She doesn't even have a boyfriend. Enter Aiden. Then Aiden goes with the flow and his new client thinks he's getting married. Find out what happens in this hilarious romantic comedy. Happy Reading!

I loved this story!! I can't believe all the lies and how everything turned out. I really thought they were going to go through with their extravagant wedding, but I like that they gave it to Katie. I thought it was sweet how Katie, and Aiden's and Emma's parents all knew they had feelings for the other. Even Bill and Jane. So sweet.

I have to say I laughed and cried with this book. What happens when you tell a lie that blows up social media? You ask your best friend to play fake fiance but what if he has been secretly in love with you? Can you still go through with it? I absolutely fell in love with Aiden and Emma . The storyline flowed from the beginning until the end and the book kept you hooked from the beginning until the end. Fantastic read!

This story is absolutely the best & so funny. One lie leads to many more & soon spirals out of control. The blurb about this story explains just the beginning of the adventure for Emma, Aiden, Shelly, Katie, Colin & all the families involved. You really have to read this story & get some good laughs when the real world we presently live in is so stressful. The end will surprise you also. I received a copy from the author. This was such a fun and charming story! The characters were relatable and easy to fall in love with. A really sweet, feel-good story that had me captivated till the very end. This book will pull you right in and keep you engaged and smiling all the way through. The author does a great job of bringing the story to life with great characters that are lovable and endearing. Emma and Aiden are so perfect and adorable together. One small lie forces them to really see each other and face their feelings. A common fake relationship plot with a unique twist, you'll be turning the pages till you finish and if you're like me, will be sad the story is over! Highly recommended!

This was a funny story about a lie that spiraled out of control. Emma upset over losing her shoe pitch and her job was trying on her favorite wedding dress when the queen of mean from high school sees her and in a panic Emma concocts this big lie about getting married. Emma doesn't think anything more about it until it's on social media, all these donations to the children's hospital are made in her name, her family has expectations, and her best friend next door Aiden gets roped into playing the part of the fiance. I laughed out loud at so many parts reading this book as their situation was out of control with his exuberant family and his new client's and her parents' expectations. I loved that Aiden liked old movies and was an old romantic soul at heart. Emma was a little over the top at times and many of her lies were so crazy that I'm surprised anyone believed them. Her roommate and friend Katie was sweet and supportive and it made me smile what Emma did for her. This story would make a great sweet romantic comedy movie.

"Love me like you mean it" is a sweet love story about two best friends that do not want to make a move forward and lose their friendship if one of them does not wish to be in a romantic relationship with the other. They are troubled and there is a lot of lies, deceit but in the ending love wins them all. There´s a lot of goodwill and friendship also involved. Lovely story and entertaining!

Adorable!

Definitely a lesson in trying to lie to make yourself look better in front of others and how what a tangled web can happen when you do. Lots of hijinks and fun friends. I could really understand Emma's plight from the start. I wish I had a friend who worked at a bridal shop so I could try on dresses when I feel down.

This book will make you forget any trouble you have and just make you happy as you enjoy how one big, white lie can escalate so out of control for Emma King as she gets fired from her shoe designer job and faces a surprise thirtieth birthday party all in the same day. And that is how the fun begins along with many surprises too. I really liked how the story ended. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

A laugh out loud romantic comedy. A fun easy reading clean sweet romance story. I do love fiction because it is not bound by the ties of reality. But isn't that why we read fiction?? To let ourselves live in the world of make-believe for a few hours. Happy Reading ! !

This was such a sweet and funny story! How could one little lie about trying on wedding dresses balloon so out of control? The situations that the characters find themselves in are hilarious and had me laughing as I read them. I loved that the ”fake” engagement turned into a real HEA.
