Rate this book
She was under his spell from the moment they met. In this startlingly true memoir, Natasha Knotts learns firsthand that truth is stranger than fiction. A lifetime of low self-esteem and failed relationships brings Natasha to the steps of God’s house, where she meets an enemy more powerful than anything she’s ever faced. As a visiting pastor, he promises to nurture her wounded spirit. The trap is sprung, and the two begin an affair that will change her life forever. With each day, his power over her grows as secrets, lies, and black magic abound. But as the illusion unravels, it becomes clear that not only is her soul at stake, her life, and that of her children, is as well. In order to break free, Natasha must realize her own spiritual power and fight with her faith. Only then can she become the woman God has destined her to be.

I understand that the writer is telling the story of her life from her perspective. However, it was hard to read. In some places it was hard to tell who was said things or who was talking in that moment. I really had to go back and forth and then then try to read like I was the one tell the story. (That’s the easiest way I can explain that and I know it still doesn’t make any sense)

While reading it seemed to be more of the writer attempting to justify her actions and explain why she loved him. One example being after the service she attended. she was explaining why she met a married man (the “prophet”) at a motel room alone. And trying justify how they ended up doing what they did in the motel room and then why the relationship kept going.

- Under His Spell- to me is more of a metaphor rather than being under an actual spell. Again, meaning she loved him. She didn’t care that he was married, that he cheated, that he lied (not just to her but to pretty much everyone) that he abused her, etc. She just loved him.

With that being said, I do know that witchcraft is real and there are people in the world who practice it. And, there are some situations in the book that are better explained by saying that he (the prophet) practiced witchcraft.

After reading the book, I can say that I have more questions than there are probably answers to. But that’s ok.

Also, I want to state that to write a book about your life and your experiences and publish it for the world to read, review and give their opinions is a very hard but courageous thing to do. So I do want to that credit to the writer. She told her story and in doing so may open the eyes of someone in a similar situation.
