She laughs softly. "Reed, you've been alone far too long if a woman putting a baby to sleep is the thing that gets you hard."
"Oh, honey." I pull her close. "Plenty gets me hard."
"Show me," she whispers. "Show me how hard you can get."
REED
When a social worker dropped a baby girl off at my cabin, saying she was mine, my life changed.
I moved to the mountains to live life on my own terms, and having a child doesn't fit into that plan.
I'm my own f*cking man and don't need anyone busting my balls. I don't want a wife. I'm looking for a mother for my baby.
The moment I meet Amelia, I know she isn't just any woman. She has ideas of how a relationship should work, and our views sure as hell don't align.
But our chemistry is off the motherf*cking charts ... and that might be enough to change my mind about what makes a marriage.
AMELIA
After breaking up with the douchebag of the year, all I want is a real man who knows how to take care of a woman.
A mountain man seems perfect, I'll tame him and he can protect me.
But the moment I walk into Reed's luxury cabin in the woods I realize this deal is more than I bargained for. I want to be housewife, but a stay-at-home mom? Um. I don't know if I can hack it.
And even if I can ... do I want to? The answer would be easy if Reed didn't turn me on--and get me off--so perfectly.
I came to the woods to find my happily-ever-after, but I might have found an ending I never expected.
Warning:This book contains all the trappings for a steamy Frankie Love romance. Panty-melting sex, fierce men, and true love. Oh, and there's an epilogue with all the girls and their mountain men! Eep!
Frankie Love writes filthy-sweet stories about bad boys and mountain men. As a thirty-something mom to six who is ridiculously in love with her own bearded hottie, she believes in love-at-first-sight and happily-ever-afters. She also believes in the power of a quickie.
❤️ Get ready to fall in love ... you deserve it! ❤️
Wifed By The Mountain Man is book three in The Mountain Man series by Frankie Love. I’ve become totally addicted to this series. In each book I get more and more attached to these characters. In this book we have the third friend, Amelia, and her mountain man, Reed.
Amelia had been with the same boyfriend all through college, four long years, only to have him break up with her right after graduation, for a new girl that looks like a fashion model. It’s only been two weeks since the break up. Amelia and her friends have graduated and are now looking at piles of student loans, no home, no job, and no man. That’s when they all decided to answer the ad for mountain men looking for wives.
Reed grew up in the system. But later, when he started his own business and then sold it, he ended up with more money than he could use. So he used some of it to build himself a luxury cabin deep in the woods. Then he got the surprise of his life, a baby. It seems like his ex-girlfriend failed to let him know she was pregnant. Now, a social worker is standing on his front porch with his daughter, a daughter he never knew existed.
For months Reed tried to take care of his baby girl, Hope, on his own. But then he had the big idea to sign up with a matchmaker to find him a wife. But Reed really only wants a mother for Hope. He wants to be able to come and go, hunt and fish and whatever else he wants to do, knowing that Hope is being taken care of. He is not the least bit interested in a wife for himself.
Reed and Amelia start right out with a chemistry that could melt the tires on the truck. Well, it almost does. But Amelia doesn’t know about the baby until they arrive home. And wow is she in for a big surprise when she sees Hope.
Reed doesn’t want a wife but Amelia wants to feel loved, and a sense of belonging. She feels like she deserves at least that. But the more time she spends with Hope, the more she falls in love with her. Could this be enough? Can Reed ever really love her?
“I’m not ready to choose. The sex is amazing. Hope needs me, and Reed makes me feel like a woman. But I don’t know if that’s enough.”
Each book in this series is more and more addicting. I just love it. Reed and Amelia felt so real. As a mother, I could relate to every emotion Amelia was experiencing. But Amelia has to decide if loving little Hope will be enough to fulfill her. And Reed has to figure out just what he really wants. Does he truly just want a mother for little Hope? Or can he let down his guard, open his heart, and find love as well? We also get a wonderful little wrap up with the couples from the first two books that made this one all the more special. Now I can’t wait for the next book, Bucked, The Mountain Man’s Babies. I’m so glad I found this series.
This is the third installment of the Mountain Men series, and not only do we get another hot and sexy read about a hunk in Alaska....but we get an epilogue that includes an update on all three couples when the book is finished. I am a sucker for a great epilogue, and this one was even better because I got to see how each couple was doing a year later!!
I am glad that I gave this author a chance, and I am intrigued enough to give some of her other short stories a go when I have the chance!!!
Only one I managed to read in the main series. At least the guy knew he was an asshole and didn't think the heroine is winning the lottery in terms of his d*** and should be grateful and just start playing house and take care of his kid. Well, he still wanted that, yes. But he also at least knew it was wrong for him to ask that if her. And the heroine's struggle was real. Poor girl couldn't stay as just a mother of a kid and a convenient body to be used by her husband but she couldn't just up and leave the kid behind either, specially since the kid got attached to her pretty quickly and she genuinely fell in love with the kid. I hated the side character of the old woman who totally judged her for her reluctance to be a mother that soon. I felt like it was the author's direct opinion of modern females. She asked the heroine what she expected the life to be as a wife, and insinuated something very insulting like being a dolled up housewife. Whereas the true situation was that the heroine was tricked. Nobody told her about a baby. A matchmaker is supposed to disclose this information which she didn't, and NO ONE showed any repentance over that and it was never questioned or revisited. She doesn't have to want to be a mother straight after college specially of someone else's kid. If she knew about it and still wanted it that was different, but she was forced into this situation. How dare that woman suggest that she suck it up and move on as she should have known better? She was duped! She asked for a husband. Not a baby. She paid for a service that she didn't receive, no body cared about that, no body questioned the matchmaker, rather when she just showed a little fear she was not only judged but reprimanded? It was quite disgusting. I think this author is going to be a no go from now on too!
For a mail order bride book, the concept was unique. I was up and down with my rating on this one, but in the end, it was the dialogue and Reed's complete personality switch that decided it for me. Reed put in his order with the agency for a mail order bride, but he wasn't exactly honest. He wasn't looking for a wife for him; he wanted a mother for his baby. Amelia is coming off a bad relationship and just wants someone to love her. Feeling like a glorified babysitter isn't exactly what she was hoping for even if he's hot as sin and throws sexy good times in with the deal. I liked Reed at first, simply because he was an ass but he owned it. My problems were with the discrepancies and the dialogue. First the discrepancies...He says that his baby mama skipped town without telling him she was pregnant but later tells Amelia that the mother told him she'd lost the baby. He says the agency knew about his requirement for his bride wanting to be a mother, but Amelia had no interest in it. Other little things like Amelia mentioning her sister and him asking later, "you have a sister?" It was annoying. The dialogue was the real mood killer for me though. Grown women, college educated women, saying "for reals" is a bit much. The sexy talk was sorely lacking as well--everything was "hard and good." In fact, "hard" and/or "good" were used over fifty times, and last but certainly not least, he refers to her vag as a gap: "filling her tight little gap." "Gap" is not sexy. It ranks up there with the words "turgid," "viscous" and "ooze," all of which just shouldn't be used in sex talk.
Wifed by the Mountain Man is the third installment in The Mountain Man series. In it, you will meet Amelia and Reed. Their first encounter was an interesting one if I'm being honest. Yeah, they didn't start off on the right foot but these two couldn't keep their hands off of one another. The smutty romance was hot from the start and I didn't want the flames to ever die.
Yet, things were a secret for a few seconds. It didn't help that he hid a kid from her.. but it was also weird to throw her into the family mixture. Still not a huge fan of the whole mail ordered bride but this whole family was hilarious from the start. Especially when the whole bet came down to her watching the kid.
In the end, they got an HEA and it was pretty cute. So cute that I even dove into the novella of this series. Let's see how this series is going to end.
An unapologetically smutty chicklit but with a surprisingly warm heart.
I haven't read such wonderful and caring parenting scenes even in romances dedicated to family. The infant was not just a cute or convenient accessory, but was shown in all her horrifying attention and time seeking glory. And both the H and the h acquitted themselves admirably there.
Also the struggle the h faces on whether to stay or leave was handled almost poignantly for a smutty novella.
So the book was almost bipolar in its tone - The author alternated between dirty smutty YA (complete with the obligatory down n dirty sex and equally dirty talk) and a surprisingly heartwarming and touching (but short) story of human emotions.
This was a cute book that gave me feels! I felt for Amelia, she wants someone to love her and not leave her and gets a man who just wants someone to care for his daughter and not a true partner. Amelia is a great person for stepping up and taking care of Hope when she knows nothing about babies and was totally unprepared to be thrust into motherhood. Reed was a jerk at the beginning for not thinking about Amelia's feelings but they fit well together and I'm glad they got their HEA. The trio of friends and their stories were fun and entertaining reads.
4 Stars!!!! Modern Mail Order Bride Romance Three: "Wifed By The Mountain Man" by Frankie Love...
Reed and Amelia.....
Amelia and her two friends recently found themselves down on their luck; recent college graduates with no job and no money and definitely no men. So one night after a couple of bottles of wine and a pity party, they signed up for a Mail Order Bride service. Soon after that night they found themselves boarding a plane to take them to their future husbands and sadly away from each other.
This was my favorite of the three Modern Mail Order Bride Novellas. I found myself smiling often despite how frustrated the Hero got me. Amelia recently came out of a four year relationship. Her boyfriend left her for another woman. His loss, the jerk! So in Amelia's eyes, this Mail Order Bride placement could be a dream come true. It would guarantee her a husband. Once they got married, he couldn't leave her. Right? But things are not what she expected. Amelia was only given a small amount of information about her circumstances from the agency. Still, she had other expectations.. Would Amelia ever find her "happy place?"
Reed was a sexy, rugged and gorgeous mountain man. But at first, he was a jerk. Yes, Reed signed up for a wife. However he did not sign up for a relationship. What Reed wanted was a glorified babysitter. Yep he has a baby. He expected his "wife" Amelia to stay at home and raise his baby daughter so he could be free to spend his days hunting and fishing. Everyday! Of course he wouldn't mind having the beautiful Amelia in his bed at night every now and then. Jerk! Jerk! Jerk!
It took Reed a while, but when he finally realized what his life would be like if Amelia left, he panicked. He was going to make his intensions known. He loved her and wanted to truly make her his wife. If it wasn't too late.
This was a sweet story. I love when babies are involved. Reed's baby girl was a handful but she was adorable. Even though Reed was rough around the edges, it was nice to see how Amelia had this mountain man's gruff walls tumbling down. And I loved how sweet Reed was with his daughter!
I really enjoy Frankie Love's novellas. They are super short and cute with characters that aren't perfect but are perfect for each other. This particular story is one I will definitely put on the re-read shelf.
This is the third book in the Modern Mail-Order Bride series and I thoroughly enjoyed all three books. If you've read the other two then you know, Everly, Delta and Amelia are three best friends who've just graduated college and have no jobs and have one week to vacate the student housing they are living in. None of them have family to rely on so one night after too much wine they go online looking for jobs but instead they end up signing up to be mail-order brides for rich Alaskan men. Everly was a virgin, Delta avoided relationships and Amelia is on the rebound from her ex-boyfriend, Derrick of four years who cheated on her with some chick that looked like a super model. Amelia has always been the jeans and t-shirt kind of girl usually wearing her hair in a messy bun but she starts to think maybe that's why Derrick cheated because guys don't want girls that look like her. Deciding to change things up for her new hubby to be, she gets fake eyelashes, nails, tan and wears sky high heels to meet him at the airport in Skagway, Alaska. Reed was content living by himself in his cabin by the lake in bumfuck, Alaska, until a couple of months ago when a woman from CPS knocked on his door and told him he had an infant daughter named Hope. He was shocked to say the least and then to find out Hope's mom was dead so he was now a single father with no help. After months of trying to take care of Hope by himself he signs up for mail-order bride, wanting only a mother for his daughter and not a "wife". Amelia is shocked when she meets Reed and sees how much of an asshole he is but that doesn't stop her from fucking him in his truck on the way to his house from the airport. Reed didn't expect Amelia to be such a glamazon or to be so attracted to her but he can't let himself get too close. Amelia is shocked/angry to find out Reed has a baby because Monique, who runs the agency never told her about Hope. They have an awkward, rocky beginning but after a while and a scare they realize they both love each other. It was nice to read about the two other couples at the end of the book.
I had a back to back to back reading marathon of The Modern Mail-order Bride Romance Series by Frankie Love. This is a collection of novellas about three college fresh-grad best friends who took on a life adventure and signed up to be mail-order brides. Every book featured how each girl fell in love with her stunningly handsome mountain man husband. I loved this series because Everly, Delta, and Amelia girl had different personalities and each book had a unique and enjoyable story. I devoured one book after another and I couldn't stop reading until I finished the last book. So much lumberjack mountain men goodness ! And I'm all smiles.
WIFED BY THE MOUNTAIN MEN is the third standalone book under this series...
Amelia agreed to sign up and join her friends in their mail order bride adventure was for her to get over her broken heart and try to forget the hurt her first and only boyfriend had caused her. But after her new husband unleashed the kind of sexuality in her she didn't know she had, the ex was immediately forgotten. The latter wasn't even half the man Reed was. And he was hers. However, Reed didn't really want to become a husband in the family sense . He just wanted a f*ck buddy and woman to take of his baby, while he enjoyed the free lifestyle of a mountain man. So, despite the fact that the sexual chemistry between them was explosive , she knew she had to leave. The only problem was that she had gotten attached to his baby. So, after Reed realized his selfish stubbornness, he surrendered his heart to Amelia and showed her, in more ways than one , how he's never letting her go.
This book is as hot as Ordered by the Mountain man, or maybe even more. Amelia and Reed were both sexually aggressive and insatiable. I was a bit frustrated with the push and pull of their feelings for each other, especially since it took Reed a long time to realize that he needed Amelia as his wife, for real. But that's the beauty how this book was written. It pulled the the right emotions from me as the reader, especially considering that this book had a cute nine month old baby involved. (There were so many sweet moments)
I loved that this last book closed the entire series harmoniously, where the best friends reunite with their husbands and celebrate their their new lives as happy wives and new mothers.
This was the 3rd book in this series and I have to admit that, in the beginning it was a little bit difficult for me to connect with the characters, since I felt that their back and forth was becoming repetitive and unnecessary: I just thought they hadn't really clicked. But I kept reading and I'm so glad I did because, in the end, some of the reasons for that behavior became more clear.
In my opinion, out of all the three couples, Amelia and Reed had the toughest time building their relationship and I'm glad we had the opportunity to read about all the different trials and tribulations.
This, and many others, are the reasons why I keep coming back to read Frankie Love and why she is one of my favorites.
My least Favorite out of the 3. I dont want to spoil why, but I didnt like how it went down with the other "person" who lived with him. I did like the end where We got to look ahead and see the other couples a little. I'll got 3 stars
I found myself very annoyed at Reed and Monique at the start of this one. I thought it was a dirty trick that Hope's presence was hid. Yes Amelia fell in love with her, but she should know known that besides a wife she was to be a mother. It didn't help that Reed's purpose was getting a mother for Hope and someone he could occasionally sleep with. That really wasn't what Amelia was looking for, she wanted someone to want her. I found myself getting annoyed with Amelia as well, why keep hopping into bed with Reed when you know what he wants. Granted everything ended up great because it's fictionland. I loved the wedding at the end, loved that the 3 friends were all together and all starting new stages in their lives.
**3.5 Stars** for Reed & Amelia's insta lust/love story. Loved the epilogue that tied all the 3 stories together and saw our 3 couples come together, nice ending.
Amelia just got out of a 4-year relationship when she signs up she thinks she will finally get a husband who will love her and cherish her but that is not what she got. Reed might be rich and all but he is a mountain man at heart, he loves going fishing being out in the woods but when he suddenly finds out he has a kid(baby) his life changes and now he wants to find hope a mother just that a mother he doesn't need a wife. When Amelia finds out the she is basically babysitting all her hopes of love goes down but the drain, she doesn't know if she can do it but when she spends more time with hope she falls in love with her and when she starts to say "mama" her heart melts and she knows she can't leave. When Reed finally figures out what he wants he goes home only to find it empty and destroyed by the storm so he goes out looking for his girls. I love the ending we get to see all the friends together and all the mountain men drinking hanging around.Glad they all got their happy ending.
I loved reading Wifed By The Mountain Man Book 2, all about Amelia a young 22 year old girl who just graduated from college who is broke, jobless & boyless. Together with her two BFF'S they answered an ad for mail-order brides to Mountain Men in Alaska. Each girl flew to Alaska and then went their separate ways to meet their husbands. Amelia went to Skyway to meet Hunter. They were both physically attractive to each other but she finds out they are not getting married right away, until he finds out weather she is going to stay and just take care of his 9 mouth old baby daughter Hope. He's not looking for a wife just a glorified babysiter! The author wrote a great story and kept the reader occupied from page one to the last. Looking forward to reading book 3.
And with this I finish three days and three books of Alaskan smut balm for the long hot summer. It's been fun.
I found book one on Val ⚓️ Shameless, Bitchy & Skanky ⚓️ Mrs. ClayDanvers/RemingtonTate profile. These books are exactly what they claimed to be - a short, alpha male, off grid, posh mail-order-bride service, HEA story to be quickly gobbled up.
I enjoyed the epilogue girlfriend wedding reunion with babies and hot lumbersexuals.
Ninety nine pennies worth of mental Alaskan sex vacation.
(I have no idea when I read this-- I devoured the entire series at once)
It said "Mountain Man" and I didn't even bother reading the blurb. I love a man in flannel! Add a beard, an off grid cabin, and set him Alaska and it won't matter if your book is long or short, good or bad-- as long as that mountain man stars in some steamy scenes!
This book delivers.
(Yup, I'm gonna post pretty much the same review on all 3 of Frankie's Mountain Man books because I loved all of them)
Even though the concept of the book is intriguing, I feel like the hero is an asshole (pretty much all the heroes in this series act like assholes- maybe not so much in the first book but definitely in the last two). It's a shame I didn't like the heroes cuz like I said I liked the storyline of all 3 books were promising and the heroines were awesome!
OMG could Amelia be MORE annoying. She shows up stomping her foot because he didn't open her door for her. Then she demands respect within the first 3 minutes of meeting him. Are you high? I would have left her fake butt right there on the air strip. Respect is earned and your whining and constant expectations are not earning anyone's respect. I'm 89% through this book and am ready to throw it away. She is just so disgusting and demanding. Girls trying to play at being a woman is just not entertainment in my book. I thought Everly was bad in the first book (and she was AWFUL) I think that Amelia takes the cake. I love how she says that taking care of a baby is a piece of cake and she shouldn't have any problem handling a baby for one day....HA HA HA. Guess that stupid little girl found out real quick how much work a baby actually is. I really didn't appreciate when she said that Reed needed to learn that being a parent wasn't a part time job. WTF would she know about being a full time SINGLE parent? NOTHING that is what. She has been there for a few days and passes so much judgment on him that it is ridiculous. Every parent needs a break from time to time, especially single parents who have no support system. There is NO amount of hotness to make up for so many character flaws. She deserves to be rejected and alone with the way she acts. Who talks about their ex when the dick of her latest conquest is still inside her. Just disgusting!
So, I think I liked this one a little bit more than the rest. Amelia signs up to be a mail order bride and that's the last thing Reed wants, a wife. However, he'll have on in name only as long as he gets a mom for his daughter, Hope.
Amelia walks into Reeds home and is blindsided. She did not realize she was signing on to be a mom. It's a lot to take in. Not to mention that her soon to be husband does not want a wife, yet he can't seem to keep his hands off of her.
I felt so bad for Amelia. I think may have even teared up a bit. However, after they talk, she's disappointed to learn he's still going on a fishing trip that's been planned for a year. It seems odd to me that she'd expect him to cancel that.
Anyway, I enjoyed this one the most. There was a good little wrap up for the three friends at the end. Which I love little wrap ups like that.
On a whole I really liked this book! The main characters were a good match for each other and their chemistry was red hot. At times, I did get really annoyed with both of the main characters and how childish they were being. A little something that made it a bit harder for me to get into the story was the fact that the male lead has a daughter. This is completely a personal preference and nothing against the story but I dislike reading romances that have babies or kids involved. It's just not something I enjoy so that part of this story did detract from the whole for me. However, this is a very good novella over all and I would recommend this series to other romance readers.
Amelia and her 2 bff's answer an ad for mail order brides in the paper. Little does she know a baby is an added bonus with her new husband. Reed had a 7 month old baby arrive on his door after his ex was killed. She never told him she was pregnant so saying this was a shock is an understatement! Amelia has s lot of trouble getting close to Reed. His idea of a wife and Amelia's are totally different. Amelia is alone when a horrific storm tears their house apart. Now she has to decide if this is the life for her.
Book three of The Mountain Man series was an unexpected surprise.
Reed and Amelia complete the trio of mail order brides in this series and this time there is a real twist. With Hope in the picture this book is my favourite off the three books I have read so far. It really pushed the previous characters and the Reed and Amelia further than before.
Adding a baby into the mix really heightens the situation and creates an enjoyable plot twist that makes the book.
Every bit of Amelia and Reed's story kept me hooked in and ready for more! Those two definitely had some serious push and pull going on and I couldn't get enough of that! That made everything they shared more intense and real, and I loved how this author gave me so much with them in this novella! This was another unputdownable novella by Frankie Love and I can't wait for more!
