Cardinal Cenere di Cornua Ferrea, Grand Inquisitor of Greed, and his fiancee Bishop Camilla Brown, have been tasked with ferreting out the source of a foul conspiracy against the Satanic Church. On top of that, their butler Jeeves has been accused of the murder of the Archdiocese of Sin City. As if things weren't bad enough, the venue for their wedding is under new leadership, namely Cardinal Armando di Montagne, who refuses to allow them to get married at Cenere's Alma Mater. The reason? He demands an honor duel for allegedly having an affair with the Cardinal's wife. What's next, a virulent disease poised to wash the world in blood?
I fell in love with this series as soon as I picked it up. This author had me rolling in my chair and I couldn't wait to take a dive into the next book. But, it was like nothing I had expected. In that one, I was crying so hard from the tragedy involved that I often had to stop to collect myself.
Well, in Conspiracy, I got a little of both. I did laugh, but I was also in tears. The relationships are real and raw, though maybe a bit far-fetched at times. In all of the battles and undead attacks, there are real relationships taking place.
While some of the writing is over the top and might have the tendency to drag a bit, I can't get past the imagination of this author. The Divine Sitcom series is beyond anything I would have ever chosen for myself and yet, I can't get enough.
If you are in the mood for a fantasy series that takes on a life of its own, you won't want to miss this one!
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy of this book.
