True or False? General Douglas MacArthur told the American people, "I shall return."

False! During World War II, attacks from Japanese soldiers forced Douglas to leave the Philippines. He promised residents there that he would return to free them from Japanese occupation.

Douglas refused to wear a helmet—even when facing attacks by enemy soldiers. He won seven Silver Stars for bravery in World War I. After his attack on the port of Inchon during the Korean War, many people called him a military genius.

This is a nice quick introduction for students learning about World War II and some of its key generals. Unfortunately it was the only book of its kind I could find at the public library and I would have really enjoyed reading more about this important decorated war hero. The information is interesting and the layout is done well, I just needed a bit more.

MacArthur was in Arkansas, and rose to become one of the great American Soldiers. He lead the american troops on D=day and landed on Normanday Beaches. A very good military book to read for those who like reading about the military greats
