Sophie has a problem on her hands. She admits writing a letter to her ex wasn't the best idea, but when her friend accidentally posts it, her not-so-good idea is officially a disaster. Hoping to avoid the fallout, she flees to her hometown until the dust settles, but this dust is far from settled.
Amber is living the life of her dreams in New York... until her father's heart attack. The best thing for both is for her to return to her hometown as he convalesces. All goes well at first. That is until she learns about her ten-year school reunion and discovers Sophie is back in town.
Will their shared history help or hinder their ability to move on, or will they continue without knowing how they truly feel about each other?
While Jade Winters has been putting words together since she was a child, it wasn’t until 2010 that she became a serious writer. Today, as a full-time author, she has published four novels in the lesbian fiction genre as well as several short stories. Jade was born and educated in London where she studied journalism for three years at a London University. She is the youngest of 6 children born to a Nigerian father and English mother and blames her love of spicy food on her African heritage. Jade now makes her home in Dorset in the South of England with her partner and furry companions Zorro, Buttons and Zeus.
"I received an advanced copy for an honest evaluation. " This book is a second chance at love story. Amber & Sophie go to high school together. They run in different crowds, Amber is the shy type. She's aware she's gay but isn't out. Sophie is the social butterfly.
One day Sophie kisses Amber, this is the triggering catalyst for each other's preoccupation/crush. Sophie then goes on & pretends it didn't happen & continues to see guys, while ignoring Amber. Her parents get a divorce & she's forced to move in with her father & finish school elsewhere.
Flash forward 10 years, Amber has moved to New York City. She's a PR mogul, she's living the good life except she's not in love, nor hasn't ever really been except for Sophie. Amber's dad suffers a heart attack so she returns to England, where she runs into Sophie.
Sophie just broke up with her girlfriend of 5 years. She's never truly committed to anyone. Their high school reunion is the week of Amber's return. She decides to try & come clean about why she ignored Amber after that fateful kiss. As well as go to said reunion.
Their eventual coming together is drawn out, but is an HEA.
Good points: Sophie's flatmate Lee is hilarious as are Amber's parents.
Bad points: the story drags on far longer than was necessary. Their eventual initial coupling is not written well. Especially since one girl just drops her clothes & hops in bed immediately then "their juices mingle". They breakup & get back together too much for me.
All in all, rounded up to 3, I've read better books by this author in the past.

You know you are going to have a good quality read when you pick up a Winters book, but for me this is not her best, so if it’s your first by this author please keep reading or you’ll miss a treat. The characters are wonderful as usual (I especially loved Lee the flatmate), but the angst and drama between the two main characters nearly drove me daft. For me there is one jarring almost unforgivable scene in the last quarter of the book where, to put it politely, they momentarily get their act together. It just didn’t fit with the feel of the book. Oh dear, overall such a shame because I so much look forward to a JW book. I was given an advance review copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This story is a true testimony of the importance of open honest communication. Young teenagers who are just figuring out their sexuality and where they fit in this world get a confused past. Sophie and Amber have lived ten years with hurt hearts and unfulfilled love. Their first meeting since their first life altering kiss is full of lies and halftruths. The years of hurt have not been hard on their professional lives but they are not strong or confident women in their love life. The story is full of angsty, missed moments for two people who clearly love one another. I would have liked a few more chapters to see them truely together but trust the degree to which they strived to be together gives me hope for these two star crossed lovers. It is a rollercoaster of love embraced and wisdom to finally live their dreams.
I always enjoy a good second chance romance so I was thrilled to see Jade Winters jump on that bandwagon. Sophie and Amber were friends in high school. Sophie kissed Amber one day after art class and then never spoke to her again. I wish there had been a bit more details about their friendship in high school because it was so fast and I had a hard time believing that either one of them actually had real feelings for the other that would qualify as the love of a lifetime. When they ran into each other by accident ten years later, the chemistry was just as strong. What followed was a lot of angst and unnecessary drama from supporting characters and our main characters getting in their own heads. While I wasn't drawn into the story as much as I had hoped, I really liked Sophie and Amber, so I kept reading because I did want them to have their HEA, which was adorable btw.
finished reading this book in one breath. I like the main charters but I loved the slightly strange and funny Lee, Sophies best friend and flatmate. I did struggle a bit with why she had a flatmate even though she appears to be having a flourishing company of her own. But Lee centainly made for some funny moments.
The love and the struggle to be honest about it was well written because after all those years they had to get to know each other again. I did not understand why Sophies is drinking on an empty stomach every time, but it did not bother me much.
The story was light and entertaining and well written. It will bring you an relaxing day of reading.
I liked this story and the direction it was taking. The fact that Amber felt she found the one at such an young early age was actually kinda cute. But at that young age dealing with your own sexuality is enough and then realizing your in love after one kiss is a completely other thing. Sophie also was struggling with her sexuality, being part of the popular crowd and add on the fact of a family tragedy again puts a burden on both kids that wasn’t needed. But they found their way back with some interesting ups and downs. Love Jade’s writing.
Not at one point in this book did I knew what was gonna happen ,everytime our mcs were making on themselves drama.Like nothing was keeping them apart but their own stupid minds.
And they're stupid, so stupid 🤦♀️Cause wym the first time they do it it's literally just Amber walking trough a door and seeing Sophie naked so she just strips her clothes out of nowhere and they fuck???like yall haven't seen each other in days??you had important things to talk about??and then somehow Amber blamed it on Sophie???
This is a great story about two girls falling in love at school, falling out and meeting again after 10 years. Told from both main characters points of view which is good as there is lots of feelings to explain from both of them. It was a plot that kept you interested all the way through. Some aghast, but needed for the plot. I really enjoyed my journey with Amber and Sophie and would highly recommend this book.
This book started in grade school. A broken heart and emotional goodbye would last for years until they were in their last 20s. Sophie and Amber kept secrets to themselves and hurts to themselves in this book describes their journey to overcome those hurts and fears. It was a great love story and I highly recommend it.
Amber and Sophie could have solved a lot of their problems if they had just spoke to one another, they kept things from each other and it often backfired. It was a nice read, kind of short though, would recommend if you are looking for a story that is short and sweet.
Amber and Sophie seem like two sides of the same coin which made me more interested in the will they or won't they aspect of the book. I didn't want to put the book down because I just had to know how they were going to make it work. I was rewarded with a nice bow at the end.
You really fell for someone then she moved away after a kiss that sent you into lust but she tried to be hetro instead. Lots of misunderstandings, lies exes and more thrown in. Some odd guess what mishap is next. Fun read a little too many unlikely events in places for my taste but still fun
Entertaining love story between Sophie and Amber. A kiss in high school, a broken heart and much misunderstanding. The main characters were so much in love but were completely frustrating. They finally told each other about how they felt. Happy ending. There are other books by this author that I like better.
An excellent read like most love story, two people meet fall in love, instantly, then disappears for ten years. Two people meet again and the lies begin. However, it all unscramble and clears up with a HEA.
This was a great read. I loved the characters and the storyline. I recommend this author and all her books. Thank you for using Kindle Unlimited. So get the book and leave your reviews.
For its length, I wasn’t sure how action packed it would be, but it feels like I’ve been on a roller coaster. That isn’t something I always enjoy, but my mood was just right for this story and I enjoyed it.
I’ve read pretty much all of Jade Winter’s book, and No Other Love did not disappoint! Hope to see a sequel in the works!
No Other Love, tells the story of Amber and Sophie who met ten years prior at school. They were both different, with Sophie being the life of the party, and Amber who was shy and reserved. They shared a moment that was short lived, which left Amber heartbroken and angry. 10 years later Amber is living her best life in New York, until she hears of her fathers heart attack and rushes back home. Just as Sophie returns home after hiding out from her ex. Their chance meetings brings up a lot of feelings that they both have been trying to avoid for the past 10 years.
This romance has angst, drama, humour and sex all captured in an engaging storyline with two women meeting after 10 years, realizing after many missteps they are meant to be together. Main characters Sophie and Amber (and Lee - Sophie's long suffering best friend) are so clearly written I was pulled into the plot from inception and read through the night. My only regret, I wish the book was longer. An easy 5 stars. I rec'd an ARC from the author and this is my un-biased, voluntary review.
