Defiance kicks off the HARPER REVOLUTION young adult space opera series with aliens, wormholes, and kickass girls.
Read this as part of the Rogue Skies anthology, and it's one of the better stories in there.
The premise struck me as a bit ridiculous, but when I suspended my disbelief I found I enjoyed myself reading about this character's highly improbable situation.
The lack of that 5th star is because so much of the story IS improbable, and not just the premise. I can't say more without giving spoilers, but I will say for the most part I was pleasantly entertained.
