The book includes a blend of true stories, conversations, and interviews. The interviews are with people that inspired the author. Some of them are the author’s family members. While the title shows that this is a business-focused book, there are also life lessons on relationships, management, confidence building, and branding. This book offers a rare mixture of knowledge from actual people with practical experience. I believe this book is suitable for aspiring entrepreneurs and anyone looking to build their business up. Also, everyone seeking a change in their life or job might find motivation from this book.
It was an easy read for me. I like the formatting of the ebook as well as the sectioning of topics. It is nice to hear perspectives from various "successful" entrepreneurs features in the book. However, the book lacks backup to support claims on studies and research about certain things. Also, I think the inclusion of praise seems biased to me. Most of the praises came from the author's family.
It is a straight-to-the-point book from the very beginning, a lesson for time appreciation and self-respect. This book is good reading for everyone looking for a way to be successful in life and in business that reflects from the first page the intelligence, talent, and professionalism that M. Curtis McCoy owns.
How To Be Successful, by M. Curtis McCoy, is a small-sized book in twenty-seven short chapters. It consists of eight chapters titled “Interview”! M. Curtis McCoy in the extreme, realistic and honest module that gives readers a treasure – data-bank, full of real-life success stories of the eight most successful entrepreneurs, that can be a manual for each and everyone looking for a successful business and joyful life. The intelligence is that he asked all of the eight great persons the same – smart-done and critical essential on-spot – questions, in addition to his own experience in the chapters prior and following each interview. Eight different opinions and insights for the same topics. In addition to M. Curtis McCoy’s exhaustive follow-ups from where you can find the best ideas that fit and enlighten your path not only in business but also to build an incredible lifestyle.
M. Curtis McCoy listed a wide variety of books on the same topic that he read, also the readings of the eight successful persons he interviewed. A great way to build your library of books about success. The information provided is neither unattainable nor unrealistic, but clearly and comprehensively explained, from which everyone can draw inspiration and adapt these ideas to their environment and capabilities. The contributions provided have been carefully selected and made accessible to all levels of readers. It is easy to read. There is a great deal of professional care taken in its writing. I recommend this book, a manual tool for seminars, workshops, business schools, and individual studies. I like the format, divided into short chapters that offer various facets on the meaning of "success" and how to achieve it.
This is my first ever book review. I'm grateful that I picked this book to commence my new journey. The title itself depicts "How to be successful", longing for success in this lane.
The book is "How to be successful:Think like a leader" written by M. Curtis McCoy. It consists of 175 pages and comes under the self- help genre. This book revolves around interviews with various prominent personalities and some life lessons in between. The author accomplished his purpose in writing this book, which is to improve and motivate others. You can just flow through the book, everything is professionally organized and edited.
I recommend this book to people who are enthusiastic about developing themselves, who need an external impulse to drive their life, who are in chaos in defining success, school kids, and igniting young minds. Just go through the preface, nobody can derail you from reading this book. Every library must contain a copy, particularly in schools, as children don't know anything more significant about what is a success, studying this book at an early age, can change one's personality. After reading this book, for sure, you are going to get your personal meaning of success.
The greatest thing about this book is there are no limitations in reading this book, it will enhance your life by at least 1%, and everything is up to a point, you will get to know the diverse perspectives on the same subject uncommon to other books. The book is fascinating, but you can't read longer than 12 pages at a stretch, its common with every non-fiction book.
The information shared in this book is realistic and achievable. This book can clear our nagging doubts, which we have to achieve success. How to make friends and tips on improving attitude are my favorite parts of this book. This book taught me many life lessons, and sometimes I just paused and pondered that I was wrong in this aspect and should improve here.
It exposed me to the concepts of delayed gratification, a FORE principle in making friends, how pride helps maintain your attitude, the cons of born talents, and the art of saying no.
The book has no profanity, no grammatical and no spelling errors, everything is professionally edited, lined up perfectly, and there are no flaws in this book, but it depends on one's mindset to accept it. This book deserves a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
How to be successful, by M. Curtis McCoy, is a compilation of true stories and conversations. He started spending time with successful people who achieving growth in their life. Sharing his own experiences inspiration, achievements, ups and downs and the way he has recovered from his brain cancer. In this book you will get to know different answers and reactions to the same questions from different successful people.
He was young and living a successful entrepreneur life. He was going through grand mal seizures daily, he was suffering from brain cancer, he was just having 60-90 days left of his life. The doctor told his mom to make some memories by the time he was left with her. He was not able to live alone, or he can't remember small details. He was inspired to make a difference in as much life as possible but by the time he has left his ability to communicate. The way he fights against his brain cancer is shared briefly in this book. The chapter in how to be successful think like a leader is the story of one man went from being homeless to owning a Ferrari. Don't let your attitude hold back from your opportunities.
At the very beginning, it seemed like one more self-initiated book telling me points those I have already heard of but the way the author has practically written the lessons from his own life makes this book different from those same self-initiated books and keeps the reader to read on until he/she finishes the book.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. Though, I enjoyed reading this book and it was so interesting. This book explained me a personal meaning of success and inspired me to fight in my bad times. The book was professionally edited. I couldn't find any grammatical or spelling error. This book has no profanity. At the same time, it is very boring to read one page of answer in the interview to each question. Somewhere it was a page turner repetitions in many topics, which was very distracting from the main concept.
I recommend this book to youngsters, children and adult, who are very passionate to change themselves. This book will tell you the personal meaning of success. Specially, young children don't know what is the personal meaning of success, reading this book at early age will change the child's personality.
This is a book about motivation and inspiration after one talk with someone who lost their motivation for living, so this book gives back to inspire those who want to achieve their ambitions and find the motivation to carry on. The book highlights not making assumptions about how people live and believing success is achievable regardless of where the reader is in their lives. Working hard and creating opportunities are two ways of becoming successful, whether it be motivated by experience or by want: do readers want to change jobs, make more money, or lose weight? It ultimately comes down to having a positive attitude.
The structure is pleasant, providing questions and answers to explain the steps to take to be successful and ways to celebrate achievements. There are also plenty of case studies to relate to, particularly if the readers seek to create their own business and learn from others’ mistakes and solutions. Two notable commonalities are prayers and starting early in life.
It is very easy later in life to say action should have taken place sooner, but this clearly hasn’t affected the case studies’ successful lives. ‘Success’ is also a subjective term and this could be established early on in the book as on the outside, the book looks to be a self-help guide when in truth, the book delves into the principle of being subjectively successful in life and there are case studies to demonstrate the accomplishments.
The book is informative and shares a lot of personal ups and downs. The book is ideal for readers who seek to do more than simple living and wish to learn how to use a positive mindset to accomplish whatever it is readers want to change, such as careers or health, and ultimately understanding delayed gratification.
I received a free review copy. Thank you to OnlineBookClub and author.
The book “How To Be Successful” by M. Curtis McCoy, as the name suggests, is a complete guide to living a successful life. In the book, the author demystifies the act of "succeeding." At times, when we look at successful individuals, we imagine them to be extraordinary people, chosen ones, or the select few born into wealthy families. The author believes this to be dishonest; he thinks that we all have the potential to be successful. He believes anyone who can apply the plethora of advice contained in the book can be successful and look extraordinary, like other successful people.
Who better to educate us on how to be successful than already successful individuals? The author believes this and goes through the trouble of asking them crucial questions and getting answers filled with such valuable information. The book contains interviews with successful people. They describe their journeys to success; it covers everything from their opinions on success to the setbacks they faced, how it felt to succeed, how to handle success, and so much more. The interviews were very instrumental in showing how everyone is capable of succeeding. The interviews were concise, and I loved reading each one of them. I found two sets of missing pages in the book, which I reported to the support team and did as instructed.
I enjoyed reading the book because it had innumerable relatable scenarios, and gave sound advice on how to maneuver through tricky situations. Furthermore, I am giving the book a 5 out of 5 rating and recommend it to anyone out there who is lost and seeking advice on how to be successful.
The collective contributions that have been thoughtfully compiled here offer readers a glimpse into the lives of many souls who have found success! Seeing the variation (and similarity) in the answers to a standard set of interview questions provided me with a unique perspective. Having these conversational snippets interspersed with other informative sections helped keep the structure lively and fresh throughout - like a palate cleanser between personalities! This title gives seasoned leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs a wealth of helpful hints and motivational approaches that they can potentially apply to their own lives, aspirations, and future goals.
McCoy’s book is full of tips from him and from other successful people he admires. The book is an interesting mix of interviews and essays. The interviewees, too, are an eclectic mix. His mother is one of them.
The sections that stood out as compared to other self-help books are advice about having strong relationships and protecting employees from harassment by customers. The latter especially stands out because blindly following the maxim 'the customer is always right' can lead to a toxic workplace for employees.
A unique book on how to be successful by thinking like a leader. The book has a great deal of information provided by the author. There are also several interviews with successful leaders. This provides a unique combination of information with actual experience from real people. I liked the interviews. I think they added an extra measure of information to help the reader clearly see what the author was writing about.
Curtis McCoy brings forward powerful lessons taken from real life on how to become successful and overcoming difficulties by practicing self leadership. I highly recommend this book to anyone aiming for higher level of success.
It was amazing to learn insights from these successful entrepreneurs as I wrote this book. Definitely a huge blessing being able to learn from each of them!
As a teenager, it is inevitable for me to get demotivated most of the times, whether it is a failed test or a goal that I was unable to achieve. Reading this book, by honoured author M. Curtis McCoy, I felt and understood various things which has impacted me in quite a many different ways.
The author has illustrated various topics, involving various people, giving insightful experiences that often came alive for me. He has invited a total of seven mightily successful people and interviewed them for us, asking questions to which the answers absolutely refreshed my mind. He starts by the base of everyone’s definition of success, to which all of them have their own meanings. From that, we can infer that success is not limited to being the topper of your class, or getting the highest paid salary. It all depends upon how happy you are in your life. A lot of times, when a person gets demotivated, it is like the person has stopped thinking of their future, as motivation comes from inside. The author has portrayed that very well.
The lessons provided by him were eye-opening, at least for a person like me. For the time that I read the book, the idea of actually feeling like a leader became clearer to me. The style of writing this book was good, it was not the best. But as far as motivation is concerned, it did its job immaculately. Moreover, the author has also included the Holy Bible in this book, which makes it even better.
I would like to give How To Be Successful: Think Like A Leader by M. Curtis McCoy a 5 out of 5 stars, as I was refreshed and highly motivated after reading this book. It gave me lessons that now I will never forget. It taught me basic values and the determination for which we are actually living. It is an insight from the author himself in which he explains about his own life that how from nothing, he had been able to get everything. I did not find any major mistakes in this book and would like to say that it was well edited. That is why I am not giving it 4 stars.
Overall, the book sticks to its title and I would definitely implement all the suggestions provided by the respected author and all the featured guests. People in direst situations can read this book and become hopeful. Also, all students should read this book so that they can understand that life does not end if we do not let it.
