Sometimes, the simplest and oldest of premises hide dark corners and hidden depths.
This series started out as just another Isekai, but by the 3rd volume, we started seeing hints of character and setting development, and a shadow of sinister underpinnings in the world created by the author.
The 4th volume finally brought a lot of elements together, and showed us that a fantasy world is very real once you're actually living in it, and good and evil are relative concepts everywhere. This book showed a tangible evil in the form of the Hellions, and more intangible evil in the form of the various empires formed by humans. At the same time, it showed that a lot of good can come out of unexpected places, and the capacity of humans to adapt and persevere is effectively limitless.
All in all, this book proved to be an unexpected gem amongst all the trash strewn about in the light novel genre these days. Looking forward to the next volume!
I found this book (and previous one) a bit all over the place and slow paced
The time hops around his life before being summoned are at times confusing and weird but I get the feeling it will merge with the main storyline eventually I believe this iseki is completely different from the norm but unsure yet if its it a good way or a why did I waste my time and money on this heap of shite way.
Little Luna is finally growing into herself as a woman and the dragon enters the story. More of the forces underlying the world are coming to light. A really good mood setting piece.
