A solid story in the franchise. Remington Kane churns out Tanner books at an amazing rate: 34 Tanner books, 4 prequel "Tanner: Year #" books, 8 "Young Guns" prequel books, and a number of short stories. Having read nearly all of them, there's always a new book on the horizon. A few of them have been a bit lesser than the others, and a few have surpassed, but the books are chock full of cool, interesting characters. The books are also filled with by-the-numbers antagonists and simplistic side characters, with very predictable plots thrown in. That said, it's a super fun, quicky read, and well written series that's good comfort food. I always enjoy reading Tanner books as soon as they're out. They're not deep, heavy, classic literature, and I'm 100% fine with that.
Tanner: Year Four has our hero taking care of a job for Horrigan (mere 30-1 odds), and then taking on a personal fight for a new friend against a white supremacy group (racists always make good antagonists) to save a mother and daughter. No obvious advancement to the series as a whole, but chock full of good Tanner action.
