If you’re new to publishing or you advise and teach graduate students, this book is a pretty incredible resource.

The information is helpful and broken down in a way that makes old advice seem pretty actionable. For example, I really loved that the author took a craftsmanship mindset, but was able to write this book in such a way that seems so much more accessible to a wider audience.

The only thing I would say is that while this book is super helpful overall, it lacks nuance. There are some situations where discipline norms supersede some of the generic publishing advice and although this book never claims to cover all bases, I think that could have been made clearer from the beginning.

Readable, sometimes entertaining, in a few places silly. Well researched. My university students enjoyed it. The templates were somewhat useful.
