Hello! This is going to be a bit of a ramble...
I'd been hijacked in my life (as many of us are), into the career path but an illness in the family and then Covid left me with a lot of time on my hands and so I wrote my first novel... I LOVED it. While not a commercial success thus far, the reviews and emails I've received have been amazing, and motivating.
Those pragmatic things I've learned through work (fact finding and logic) only add to my writing because I have a compulsion to close loose ends and to make sure that what I write works. I don't want to go back to that as a full-time job but... the clock is ticking!
I have read (and do read) a lot but it's sort of strange that as an author, I'm less likely to give reviews than I was before.... How I would or would not have done it, or Wow... this person is a Master! factors in and it gets in the way a bit.
Generally, I love to travel (I'm in Thailand on a deck overlooking the ocean at the moment - apologies, I am lucky...) and used to play in a band (we were pretty bad, but it was fun). The things that irritate me are injustice, inequality, hypocritical words or actions, bullying, lying, cheating - basically the things that weaker folks do...
As for the first novel, a lot of people have asked if 2 Dark Mirrors is fiction or not. It is "fictional", but most of Lina's traits, the meeting and the sessions are based on true events, but not were about "Lina" at the time. It was reading of some "other books" that made me want to write it to see the record a bit more clearly on these relationships - how incredibly powerful mutual respect, blunt honesty and absolute trust can be.
What's next? I have a few ideas. There's been a few questions on finding a "safe" Master and training that I'd like to answer as well as how I would bring my "partner" fully into the present. There's a different sort of mindfulness training there for everyone (and that pragmatic side of me has already written a lot of this down). I wasn't planning to write in this genre again because I think that 2 Dark Mirrors was most of what I wanted to say, but one of the fans of the first books keeps giving me ideas...
Thanks for reading!
Ryan
