2 Dark Mirrors

Rate this book
2 Dark Mirrors tells the steamy, yet often poetic journey of a young woman's self-discovery toward through her submission to a man whose eyes she never sees.

Author Note: This book is no longer available as a single novel and has been split into two parts - Part 1 of the new version can be found here on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Written by a Dominant from the perspective of his submissive, it’s a must read if you’re looking for a great fictional story written with care because it’s based on real sessions (that might make you blush) and a positive insight into real Dominant / Submissive relationships. Definitely for Adults.

There’s no abs on this cover for a reason.

Summary:

Escaping from the stresses of university, controlling parents and self-centered friends, Lina is drawn to a dating profile that seems ‘wrong’, yet can’t get out of her mind. What kind of a man, she wonders, could demand these depraved (yet wonderful!) things so bluntly and without shame? And when these thoughts start to crawl under her sheets at night to leave her breathless and shaking, she knows that she has to answer… telling herself that she is just a curious girl wanting to know.

Falling into Patrick’s world filled with rules, discipline and mind-blowing sex, his sessions push her further than she wants – but she knows it’s what she needs to break free from the invisible shackles she’d been wearing.

In a Latin American country of stunning natural beauty, Lina continues her training in paradise - becoming freer and stronger than she’d ever thought possible, unaware that she’s going to need all of her newfound strength, and everything she’s learned to survive

Her only wish is that just once, she’d be able to see his eyes…

A Few Quotes

“Patrick smiled as he watched her, waiting before speaking. “Have you ever seen anything more beautiful?” he asked.

In the silence after, the awe she’d heard within his voice lingered in the air. Without words and without his commands, there was nothing she needed other than this. She stayed like that a long time, with her head bowed and unmoving until finally she closed her eyes, feeling utterly at peace.

…As he did, simply watching her breathe.”

---

“…somewhere in her mind the breeze becomes her light and she sees him bent over her. Basked in sunlight together, they throw golden silhouettes like some carnal and ancient art that had been etched in sandstone eons ago”.

---

“Sex is a world of opposites. The filthy acts we crave with one person are often completely repugnant with another… imagine the difference, even in a kiss.

These parts of us are not for everyone, and these desires have little to do with love.”

---

“…and as she steps lightly to the cupboard in bare feet, they barely seem to touch the floor. She appears to float, both weightless and powerful. She has become part of the air that surrounds them and the air that he breathes.”

---

“Recognizing her gift and her desire, his hand tightens and his teeth graze the offering of her neck. She wants him to bite and even to take her blood, the trust that allows her both her fantasy and her fear.”
---
“Recognizing her gift and her desire, his hand tightens and his teeth graze the offering of her neck. She wants him to bite and even to take her blood, the trust that allows her both her fantasy and her fear.
The carnival rides we take, she thinks, believing we won’t fly from the rails.”

Hello! This is going to be a bit of a ramble...

I'd been hijacked in my life (as many of us are), into the career path but an illness in the family and then Covid left me with a lot of time on my hands and so I wrote my first novel... I LOVED it. While not a commercial success thus far, the reviews and emails I've received have been amazing, and motivating.

Those pragmatic things I've learned through work (fact finding and logic) only add to my writing because I have a compulsion to close loose ends and to make sure that what I write works. I don't want to go back to that as a full-time job but... the clock is ticking!

I have read (and do read) a lot but it's sort of strange that as an author, I'm less likely to give reviews than I was before.... How I would or would not have done it, or Wow... this person is a Master! factors in and it gets in the way a bit.

Generally, I love to travel (I'm in Thailand on a deck overlooking the ocean at the moment - apologies, I am lucky...) and used to play in a band (we were pretty bad, but it was fun). The things that irritate me are injustice, inequality, hypocritical words or actions, bullying, lying, cheating - basically the things that weaker folks do...

As for the first novel, a lot of people have asked if 2 Dark Mirrors is fiction or not. It is "fictional", but most of Lina's traits, the meeting and the sessions are based on true events, but not were about "Lina" at the time. It was reading of some "other books" that made me want to write it to see the record a bit more clearly on these relationships - how incredibly powerful mutual respect, blunt honesty and absolute trust can be.

What's next? I have a few ideas. There's been a few questions on finding a "safe" Master and training that I'd like to answer as well as how I would bring my "partner" fully into the present. There's a different sort of mindfulness training there for everyone (and that pragmatic side of me has already written a lot of this down). I wasn't planning to write in this genre again because I think that 2 Dark Mirrors was most of what I wanted to say, but one of the fans of the first books keeps giving me ideas...

Thanks for reading!
Ryan

Wow

I read the Fifty Shades of Gray series. This is a better version of that story: well-written and from the perspective of someone who lives it. Of course, there are parts that make you blush but that’s what you get when you read BDSM. On the surface, Lina is a simple girl but as the story weaves sits complexities, she becomes more strong and resilient. While not for everyone, this was a strong read and I recommend it.

At last, a BDSM novel that is very well written and NOT pornographic

This is an incredible book, extremely well written, emotionally insightful and, remarkably for a book about BDSM, yet not really pornographic despite the sex scenes. Buy it, read it, enjoy it!

This book is as it says, an erotic tale. That is not saying it is a pornographic smut novel. The relationship between Lina and Ryan is approached in a tasteful manner and the evolvement of said relationship is filled with tantalizing moments. For those in the “scene”, much of the book will be familiar to them, but for newcomers, they might be a bit put off by some of the role play and dominance that is shown. I urge you to keep an open mind though, what is passion to one person is distasteful or horrible to another.
I liked the story progression, the book does take a turn when Lina falls in the hands of the terrorists, but it’s still a good story and very engaging. The author clearly knows his way around the BDSM world and does a good job of avoiding falling into tropes and misconceptions that are out there.

Erotica is not one of my preferred genres though I frequently like to expand my reading into areas outside of my interests. This book is exactly what is promised on the tin. Although fictional, it is based on the author’s real experiences adding a degree of realism that I imagine is lacking in other novels of this type.

I won’t be picking up another one in this genre for a while but this one is well-written. It has an interesting storyline and is full of interesting philosophy of love and sex. If you enjoy erotica, pick this one up.

Interesting but much too long.No comparison to Mr. Gray, that was a love story this was a repetitious excuse for an old man's need to control young women.

Erotic exploration of Lina’s sexuality and her limits

This is a good erotic story about Lina and her journey into the world of dom and sub. As Patrick shows Lina the world of domination and the feelings and sexual pleasure that can be achieved through blind folds, soft touch, and so much more. I found the story to be compelling and the world of sexual domination and the rules set for the submissive to follow can be extreme or extremely erotic. This was a good read that kept me interested in this world that not many people write about. Check this one out if you are looking for a new perspective in the world of sexual exploration.
