A story that tore me apart..A mother aggressively works to keep a loving father away from his child..She is manipulative, uncaring toward the child, buying herself what She wants with the support money and giving the child a cold can of spaghetti-o's..The father works desperately with the 'system'..But it is broken and he gets No results..Finally..he breaks..It Is HIS Time To Make All Pay!!! DI Sara Ramsey and Team work hard to find a killer, learning small pieces of the story as the investigation goes on. The workers who are Supposed to be on the child's side have lost their way, and soon may lose their life! All who did Not do what the child needed are on a murderous path...of a man lost, desperate, and heart-broken.. An emotional time for the Team, as this man's side can be seen, and his sorrow felt by all.. A 5 STAR story I recommend to All..One Time You may take the murderers' side...
The justice system has failed him .... he's got a list of names and he's checking them off one by one ...as they die.
The first is Linda Strong, a primary school teacher. She's been abducted, then drowned, and her body left where it may be found.
DI Sara Ramsey and her team are called in to investigate. By all accounts, she's well -liked by everyone, has a loving fiancee. There's been no stalker, no arguments with anyone, so no motive is established.
And then another body is found ... much in the same condition, only this woman was electrocuted while drowning. This victim was a social worker. Again, she seems to have no enemies .. so who would want these women dead?
And before Ramsey can draw a deep breath, yet another person abducted ... a teacher at the same school where Strong was employed.
This murderer has an agenda and he's rapidly working his way through his list. How many more will die before Ramsey can find what ties them altogether?
This is non-stop page-turning action. Told by both Ramsey and the killer, the killer lets the victims know who he is and what has happened to him to turn him into a serial killer. Although 8th in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone. I do recommend starting at the beginning ... it's been a rip-roaring series. I look forward to more of Ramsey and her team.
NOTE: Thank you to the author for using my name as one of her characters!
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
This is unusual, it is not often that I end up having complete sympathy for the murderer. I felt incredibly sorry for his victims and they should never have died, but I could once we get the the nuts and bolts of why he is doing what he is doing, could understand how he could be at the end of his tether.
They weren't the most pleasant of deaths, nor the most gruesome that I've read, but carried out in a way that made it really tricky for DI Sara Ramsey and her team catch any sort of break in the case. They are left feeling rather frustrated as more women are abducted and killed.
Due to getting occasional chapters into the villains mind and hints what may be motivating him, although I had no idea who he was, or the real extent of the situation, what I found most fascinating was the way Sara and her team tried to work out how the murderer is.
I feel we saw a bit more of some of her team members this time around, and Carla even had to take the lead briefly which gave us a new insight into her feelings on various aspects of police work.
This is fast becoming one of my favourite M. A. Comley series, the writing is top notch as I would expect and I was hooked on seeing just what would happen next. Another truly fabulous book from this prolifically talented author.
Thank you to the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,
Wow, I can’t believe we are on book eight already in the series!
I’m enjoying seeing a detective that is loved up and happy for a change. Things arn’t all rosy for Sara with her previous husband’s family constantly causing issues for her. Am hoping they will fade away at some point so that Sara can get on with own life with her new partner.
The author shows us how tough it can be for people in this line of work when it comes to days off as well as having some time off. It’s a job where, depending on a case, you can be called in at anytime or contacted and I did feel a little bit sorry for the characters but then it wouldn’t be much of a detective story if there were to be no crimes involved!
This is a killer that is cold and calculating and has been pushed well past their limits. The author deals with a topic which is without a doubt unjust and more needs to be done. Unfortunately that doesn’t justify the killer’s actions. This is a case that causes tension and friction between Sara and some of her colleagues as personal opinions get in the way. I think this is one crime where the reasons behind it will have readers torn with their empathy for the killer.
For The Love Of… is another steady paced read that had me hooked throughout. It picks up pace towards the end sending everything into a bit of a frenzy as to whether the team will be able to stop the killer in time before they strike again. My heart was in my mouth as the body count was growing and I was glued to the edge of my seat until I turned the last page. Another enthralling read in a great series.
My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
A heart-touching crime thriller. Having spent many years in the criminal justice court system I have seen so many heart-breaking moments of children being placed with the wrong parent. The agony of separation. The helplessness of knowing your hands are tied until the judicial system finishes their process. A process that doesn't always move quickly.
As always, Ms. Comley allows us to see not only the emotions of the victims but the twisted thinking of the perpetrator. A good man who has broken both emotionally and mentally. Pushed first to the edge and then over.
A brilliant police procedural we get an indepth look at both the investigation and the characters. DI Sara Ramsey and her partner, Carla are tasked with the emotional upheaval of telling the victim's families their loved ones are not coming home. The team works tirelessly to research every possible clue. Time is not on their side as the body count starts to rise. Who? Why? The questions that haunt them long after their day is over until a stroke of luck points them in the right direction...but will they make it in time? Can Sara breach the perpetrator's anger and hate and reach the once good man inside? You'll have to read the book to find out.
I truly enjoyed this one and read it in one sitting as the pages had to be turned all the way to the end. A definite 5* read for me.
This is another thrilling installment from M A Comley in her DI Sara Ramsey series. It’s her eighth outing in her quest to keep the streets of Hereford safe but will she succeed?
Linda and her two friends had been for a girls night of food and cinema. They watched as she got into the taxi and it drove off. She texted her fiance, Daniel, to let him know she was on her way home. The taxi dropped her off. She was immediately picked up by a driver of a black van and pushed into the back of it.
DI Sara Ramsey had received a call advising her there was a crime scene to attend. The body of Linda Strong had been dumped in a layby so it was crucial they found where she had been murdered. She had been a primary school teacher at Lossworth Primary School. The pathologist confirmed she had drowned and the water had a form of oil residue in it.
The next day, Carla received a call to go to a crime scene that she had trouble locating. When she got there, the pathologist advised they had a female body with no ID but it appeared she had been killed in similar circumstances to their first body but there was something else which she wanted to confirm first.
He started the van and entered the car park heading towards the headmistress as she was heading to her car. He stopped beside her and ordered her into the van, she refused. He thumped her and she went down, catching her face on the car door. Someone started shouting at him and had a mobile in their hand. He dragged the woman’s inert body to the van and lifted her inside. As he was leaving the car park, the phone woman stood in his path, he drove towards her. She didn’t move. He struck her at speed.
Will DI Sara Ramsey and her team be able to catch the culprit and find out why he is targeting these women? Will there be more suffering?
I think this has got to be the best book yet! The author has excelled with research for the plot. She has a good descriptive writing style. I got hooked straight away with this book so managed to read it in a day, it was unputdownable.
Wow are we really on book 8 of this series - how time flies... Usual series rules apply though - yadda yadda - you all know the script by now. So we start with the death of a primary school teacher but with nothing much to go on Sara's team flounders. Then there's another body, and another and a pattern starts to eek itself out of the darkness. They home in on a suspect but the story that subsequently unfolds is so harrowing. The things that people are driven to, how easy it is to cross that line, when all you want is gone. Oh... this broke my heart... And the sad truth of the matter is that stuff like what went on in this book - I mean the reasons for the killings not the killings themselves - is all too often repeated and with a dwindling service to properly assist legally, well, it's not surprising that things get heated... frustration breeds violence in this case. As with all my reviews for this author I have to mention the banter, the pacing, the way the story got on with itself with no superfluous padding or waffle - all present and correct herein too. The character development for the series characters continues on in this book and the "episode extras" are just as well crafted and all played their parts well too. The story is harrowing as already mentioned but it is also very well crafted and indeed executed. My sympathies were so torn and I had so many questions - and a fair drop of anger - at the end. Don't get me wrong, the story satisfied me wholly, just the topic left a nasty taste... So sad...
Another fantastic book in the DI Sara Ramsey series. This time a primary school teacher is the first person to be targeted , followed by two other murders. Are Sara Ramsey and her devoted team able to solve these murders & bring the perpetrator to book ? This was a very heartbreaking book to read, but nonetheless one that I really enjoyed, even knowing that the justice & social welfare system are hopelessly flawed and usually favour the maternal side no matter the cost Unfortunately they do not look at the evidence provided by both parties. Only someone very special like this author knows the truth & can put this knowledge into written words.
Like most of this series, it's an ok read - being only 168 pages it's a quick read. There is little ( if any) character development for any of the lead detectives, however. Warning to mystery lovers like myself - this book cheats! The killer is introduced as a new character just before the end, meaning there is no way of working out who it is as you go. I got a load of this series a while back for £1 a book, so I'll read the next 5 or 6, but I'd only recommend these if found cheap somewhere
A young woman was snatched from outside her home after a night out with her two best friends, she was drugged and thrown into the back of a black van. She has everything to live for, unfortunately, the man who has snatched her has different ideas. He wants revenge and he is definitely going to make them all pay for what he perceives as justice. I love the Sara Ramsey Series and this is a great addition that could be read as a stand-alone but I prefer to follow the background story as it develops.
Although not an uncommon occurence, not often featured in a novel. Custody of a child can work if both parents pay fair and are honest, sadly the courts still tend to favour the mother, regardless of how poor a job she is doing. Whereas sexual assault cases are notoriously hard on the female victims, the case is the reverse on custody hearings. Whilst a court may on a judgement in place regarding access, both parents have to abide by it for the system to work. Some mothers will try and work the system, so they have both the child support allowance and the child. Needless to say some of the mothers have their own welfare as their main concern and the child is merely a pawn. This is one such case. The father adored his son, the mother despises him, but he's worth five hundred pounds a month, so he has his uses. The child is abused by the mother, his basic needs neglected, but she presents a respectable front and is a consummate liar. The school believe her, Social Services believe her, the courts believe her. The father is awarded visitation rights, she makes sure he is unable to keep these appointments. No matter how !any times he tries to tell authorities what is really happening, no one believes hi! - and one day he snaps. Laying the blame on the key figures who have let him down and ruined him financially and emotionally. They must pay. The schoolteacher, the social worker, the headmistress and his solicitor. The last one on his list is the boys mother, then he and his son will be happy together. Problem is, if you start killing people the police will look for you. Sara and her team are handed the case after the schoolteacher, Linda is abducted and her body is found days later, then comes Sharon the social worker. Manner death is similar, but what is the connection? The team have no clue, no one can find a link until Heidi, the headmistress is taken. A call to social services asking them to check any cases involving the school and the murdered staff !member finally points them in the right direction. Well written from a perspective rarely used, makes this the best on this series to date.
I am a massive fan of this author’s books and I was delighted to see that she had a new release in the DI Sara Ramsey series – which is one of my favourites! I can’t believe that this is already the eighth book in this series!!
I loved being able to catch up with Sara and the team, I feel really invested in the characters having followed the series from book one, and was really looking forward to seeing what they had been doing and I liked that in this book we got to see more of the team and Carla even took more of a lead in this one too which was a nice change.
The book held my attention throughout, it was just a little lighter and a little less gruesome compared to some of the earlier reads in the series and I think that will help other readers venture out and give this one a go – it is definitely worth a read!! My fingers are crossed that it would tempt them to pick up another book from this series as it is possibly my favourite of all the series the author has released to date, I am torn between this ne and the amazing Justice series!.
It is a 5 stars from me for this one – it was a very well written and heartfelt read that had me feeling sympathy for the murderer too – an enjoyable read and really looking forward to DI Ramsey’s next case – and I must say I LOVE that cover again, all the covers in this series are simply stunning and really stand out!!
DI Sara Ramsey and DS Carla Jamesen are called out to a murder scene , where the dead woman's bag is found beside her .Linda Strong was a primary school teacher who had been on a night out with her two friends when she vanished a few days before .Her fiance Daniel is devastated when he hears the news ..but the shock is far worse for Linda Stong's parents .On questioning her two friends , Darla and Mandy , Sara Ramsey cannot understand who could murder such a kind and caring teacher..When another woman is killed in a similar way , Sara knows they must move fast to catch this killer ..The second victim is a social worker who had a pile of cases on the go ...but what could possibly connect the two dead women ..? The killer has a list ..and when the killer goes to desperate measures..without letting anyone stand in their way ...the pieces are gradually coming together .When an innocent member of the public gets caught in the crossfire...once again the killer strikes with a silent , seething rage ..A cruel cold heart , a burning need for retribution..makes for a case that for Sara Ransey is one of the most heartbreaking she will deal with ..So sad, very emotional...one of those stories that makes you feel for the injustice in the system - a system that sometimes makes mistakes ..Heartbreaking.
Yet another brilliant read in the DI Sarah Ramsey series. M.A.Comley has totally smashed it again, with this book. Love this series and hope DI Sarah Ramsey is around for much longer. This is a Very heart wrenching story, about a Father who has all the authorities against him, due to his Sons Mother's lies and manipulation. He works very and supports them financially, a lot more than she would get normally, but it's all for his precious Son, whom he believes is being very well cared for by his ex partner. But he finds out how wrong his beliefs have been and he's determined to make someone, anyone, in authority to actually see and realise what's really going on.
DI Ramsey and her team, are now investigating the Murder of a school teacher, with 2 more murders that follow. Are they connected at all.??
When the body of a much-loved woman is discovered, Sarah and her team investigate the case. When more bodies are discovered, it soon becomes clear that they are dealing with a serial killer and all the murders are gruesome and the victims suffered greatly. For The Love Of… is a heartbreaking story of a fathers love for his son and how he is prevented from being in his life As the story progresses, I could not help feeling some sympathy for the killer and how the justice and social welfare systems failed him and how he felt justified for the killings of these professional women. It’s hard to believe this is book number 8 already, although not surprising as MA Comley is the fastest writing author I know of and she certainly does not keep her fans waiting for the next instalment. Another excellent read, steady paced and so true to life.
Well she did it again. You can't go wrong with choosing to read this series. So much action as well as so much character driven storyline.
I really feel for Sara as she seems to always have a tough road dealing with in laws that she had and trying to do a lot with her job.
I love the fact that in all the turmoil in her life she has a lot of love to give and seeing her with Mark you really see that second chances at true love are still out there.
What a wonderful book with am amazing moral to the end of this story. I love reading a strong book that teaches you something as well.
Sara is such a strong female lead that she can do whatever is necessary and still keep a feminine demeanor as well at times. She doesn't give up anything and still shows her soft side.
Spoiler. I found the premise of this book disturbing. Killing someone other than in self defense is wrong. It is breaking the social contract and for society to function correctly the perpetrator must be punished.
In this story the perpetrator almost kills an innocent bystander as well as people he feels he has a case against.
And at the end of the day he ensures that what he most fervently wished for will never happen and in a way punished the one he lives most as well.
The book is as usual in the series is well written. I also feel that the characters use swear words too much.
This is book 8 in the D.I Sara Ramsey series and it’s such a fab series, I definitely recommend reading the series in order, it does not disappoint. The regular characters are so relatable and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them throughout the series,
“For the love of...” is such a powerful read, it’s heart breaking, gut wrenching and an edge of your seat plot. It stirred up a whole range of emotions for me and I found myself wondering ... Does a serial killer ever have an excuse to kill? I actually kind of felt for the perpetrator when all was revealed. The killer has a to do list, he has no fear anymore just drive for retribution. But why though? How can anyone feel that a dedicated primary school teacher deserves to killed in such a terrible way? The killer has an end game, D.I Sara Ramsey and her team have a race against time to bring this case to a close before there is yet another victim.
Another belter in the DI Sara Ramsey series. This starts with the Investigation murder of a school teacher followed by other deaths. Are they connected? If so. How?
It is a heartbreaking and harrowing read but the saddest thing is that the back story leading to the killings happens in real life. The author wrote in such a knowledgeable way and it made me really doubt the justice system.
Another great addition to the Sara Ramsey series but one that really hits home hard. Never expected to really feel for the murderer. Love being able to read a book from both sides, the police hunting a serial killer and the murderer and the story behind the murders. At the centre of it all you’ll find your heart breaking at the heartless treatment a poor young child suffers at the hands of someone who should love him. Cannot recommend this book and the series enough.
This was such an outstanding but really tough read. I have seen the laws in America work the same way as this story went, and it's so sad for the other parent, regardless of their gender. But it's really sad for the children who miss out on knowing who they are. So how much of today's violence is because of this. This book really touches on a true daily fact, and dealt with it well. I highly recommend!
For the love of by M.A. Comley. Omg another brilliant read. This is book 8 in the DI Sara Ramsey series. You will need a box of tissues. I was actually feeling for the killer but then I wanted him caught. I was all over the place with this one. I love the team. Looking forward to the next book. 5*. Highly recommended
Somewhere a hard hearted killer has decided to ruin the lives of all those who he feels have ruined his life. But is he hard hearted or have circumstances just been too much. Sara and her team have to work through this & find this person before things could get worse. A well written & thought provoking thriller
Sara and her team are desperate to track down a killer who is righting the wrongs he feels he's suffered due to the perceived incompetence of his child's school/social services and his solicitor. Can they track him down and stop him from completing his vengeance against those in the system he feels wronged him.
This is another book in the series that has gripped me from the beginning. This is a story with many levels most of them tragic. The tension built from the start and doesn’t let up throughout. So far I’m reading one a day and looking forward to the next one. What an author!!
A fab instalment on the DI Sara Ramsey series. A serial killer is on the loose. But he’s targeting specific women. Why? Sara and her team investigate and Sara finds herself understanding the murderer’s motives which puts her at odds with her work partner. Fast paced and believable.
Another fantastic story in this amazing series. Feeling so sorry for a murderer!!!! I did, you can't help but feel it for him. Dead bodies appearing one by one but what is the connection? A real page turner you won't want to put down. Huge 5 stars.
A powerful story and so true in many ways. The trauma of break up and the inept justice system in caring for the kids. Had me glued.to every page. Starting now on DI. Ramsey's next case.
Wow so many twists, what a page Turner. DI Sara Ramsey is on the case of a killer that has an agenda when the justice system fails him starting with the death of a primary school teacher. A very sad story brilliantly written.
