I get the annoyance with Gab that others gave mentioned. She’s incredibly naive and her actions often make her seem like an overly eggar puppy instead of intelligent surgery. Personality issues aside, this was really slow, it was almost an entire book of fluff and background. But at least it was a short and easy read. Also the way Gab is constantly telling the guys what’s “black stuff” and “white people stuff” is weird. So I see why this is everyone’s least liked book.
This story just keeps pulling you in. Love the characters and the plot. The writer keeps you guessing about what else is coming. Impatiently waiting for the next book. Loving it.
Still an interesting read. It has some of the same grammatical issues as the book prior. Spelling, incorrect word usage, grammar, etc. I'm not sure if it's just me or if the story is starting to lose me because I noticed a lot of instances where I'd roll my eyes just as how unbelievable some of the information is as presented. Suspended disbelief is what I've rolled with so far but I think it's taking a dive. Charlie and Chris have this on again off again thing going on with Gabrielle and Michael is kind of hanging around but there's been no escalation in his relationship with Gabrielle though I'm guessing it's something that'll change with the whole ending of their employer employee relationship. Otherwise, Gabrielle finally gets more information about what Chris and Charlie are really involved in when she gets snatched along with their cousin Arthur for some payback Arthur got himself into. The emotions were really odd in this regard because Gabrielle's reaction just doesn't seem real. In any case, we'll see about the next one.
I love the idea of #blackgirlmagic so I will continue to read and support everything from this author. That being said, this book and specifically the female lead left a lot to be desired. How could she be so intelligent and so dumb at the same time? How could she not know at this point that the guys were mob? That scene with Isaiah wasn't ironic or witty it should have been her light bulb moment. Any time she came close to having a clue she was detailed by the D. The constant crying, the whining, and the pouting were manipulative at best. This whole she is naive thing is obviously not true especially when it comes to how she behaves sexually around the guys. She had great friends and great support but she still acts like a child who hasn't experienced anything. For someone who has defended her abusive ex, she sure seems judgmental with the guys who have been there for her the entirety of her life. Rant aside, the book has decent points for it being this authors second book ever. I look forward to watching her grow.
Book 2 of a 4 book arc in a 12 book series. If you read my review for book one, I’m happy to say that I did finish book 2. And I actually am going to probably finish at least this ark if not the series.
Reading the forward from the author, I realize that this is one book that they wrote was split into four books. As such the books are on Eve it lengthwise. I assume the writer broke them up the way they did based on what’s happening in the plot where there are more “natural breaks.”
There continues to be the struggle with weird grammar/syntax oddities. There’s still moments where it’s very clear that the author is young and or inexperienced because of the way characters react to situations. Or just the mere fact that the situation(s) are not always logical and/or realistic. Nevertheless, I am hooked into the story. I found myself commenting out loud when I get frustrated with the plot, which is a sign that I am engaged.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟This is not your average reverse harem story. Although we have 3 Alpha Males and one Woman, we have mafia like scenes, intertwined families, murder, mayhem and madness. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to get ready to start the next book. I’m teetering on the edge needing to see what happens. Chris, Charlie, and Michael are prepared to love Gabrielle and protect her at the same time. But can they? Especially with the dangerous world they live in. Will Gabby be strong enough to survive her heart and the attempts on her life.? Running now to the next book, I need to know some answers.
This book immediately picks up where Book 1 left on, with Gabrielle having to tend to a bruised Arthur while she tries to figure out what secrets lie with her three mysterious men - Chris and Charlie Richardson, and Dr. Michael Bo. I enjoyed this book a lot more than the 1st surprisingly, maybe because I knew this was going to continue to be slow burn and mostly be cliche filler of Gabrielle trying to come to terms with her feelings for them. Some slight formatting issues and monotonous parts but Still worth a read. The ending took me a little by surprise… we will see what’s in store for them.
Talk about courageous and perseverance even with odds…..
Pushing forward in spite of adversity intertwines the five…..
Will the truth help, hinder, or immobilize?
Will Gabs borrowing a finger cause her to run or remain?
Love is confessed to the four involved. Will it work?
Community fund raiser to open clinic - kidnapping - video - scorned alliances - bond tightened for rescue - coming to terms - hostage in grocery store - adrenaline - old memories - green light - snooping - flushing of systems - laying all cards on the table……..
This book has what I like to call Book 2 Blues! It moves slower then the first book but the writing is still great. The main character is still good but I’m hoping she will take charge more the the follow series. As far as the conflict that the 3 men have to face it doesn’t seem that hard for them. It’s kind of like watching cop show everything wraps up perfectly at the end and your not sure why it happened in the first place! Overall still a great read.
Run and read this series, that’s all I’ll say. You can tell this is the author’s early writing, however, they’ve done a wonderful job with it. Gabrielle is so soft and mushy, her men are delicious. How in the world will this all tie up in an HEA??!! On to the next book!
I understand Gabs need for wanting to know the truth but then she acts so crazy once she finds out that I wouldn’t want to tell her either. I totally get the men wanting to ease her into it.
So burn, it kind of felt like the story was being stretched out. I don't think I will ready the next 2 books. I will read books from this author again I just don't think this series was for me.
This is a great story but it moves slow for me honestly and I think I’m not in the right headspace for this storyline and that’s fine I know smauggy universe is 10/10 I will come back once I’m back in the head space.
