“The Delay: A Juneteenth Hot Holiday Hookup” is the latest installment in the Hot Holiday Hookup novella series by Danielle Allen. All installments are standalones. This installment tells Trenton Davis’s story. Trenton is headed to Galveston, Texas after being hired to photograph and document a Juneteenth celebration. After a chance encounter with India Davis at an airport terminal, things take a very steamy turn when their flight is delayed.
I really enjoyed this book. I have not read any of the other installments of the Hot Holiday Series so I definitely love that they can be read separately. This was a very easy read. I finished it in one sitting. Trenton and India were both fun characters. The story progressed at a steady pace. I loved the information about Juneteenth that was told throughout. There were definitely some laugh out loud moments as well. Overall, this was a steamy, fun read with the perfect pinch of drama. I look forward to reading more from Danielle Allen in the future.

Sexy History Lesson
This was a great Holiday hookup that left me wanting more of Trent and India, it gave us a history lesson on Juneteenth and sexy chemistry between two strangers. I love that they were bold and adventurous. Would have love to seen if their relationship had blossomed and if it lasted. I plan to read all the other Holiday Hookups.

There was so much packed into this short read. The leading man, Trenton, is what fantasies are made of! I was rooting for this couple from the very beginning. The back story perfectly illustrated the racial tensions we all face daily. The history of the Juneteenth holiday was highly informative without being preachy.

I Love My People
Damn, Danielle Allen gave the people a history lesson and brought sexy to Juneteenth! The song says, "Do what you do, but watch my shoes..." That's how this India/Trenton party got started. India forgot the words to the song and scuffed up Trenton King's shoes rushing through the airport. After seeing past her afro and into her beautiful face Trenton was left thinking, what shoes? The two end up seat mates on a flight from DC to Atlanta to Houston, and after a tense beginning even turbulence was their friend (wink, wink). At first not knowing their destinations were the same, somewhere between DC and Atlanta Michael Jackson started singing, Wanna Be Startin' Something, and after checking a man about the reality of Juneteenth, King had India singing ma ma se, ma ma sa, ma ma coo sa (in a very public are)! India's ex, Trey tried to pump the breaks on this whirlwind romance, but our ancestors wasn't having that. That Scar looking dude needed to be run off of Pride Rock, I mean Galveston island because India and King had a date to LET FREEDOM RING! Allen's holiday novellas have been amazing, as is all of her writing. I will easily recommend her to any and everyone, Sis is a wordsmith for real. There were some lines in this book, and at 4am I'm chuckling like a fool at, “How do we look as a unit if we go to jail for beating the ass of a dude in leggings over a chick you met twenty-four hours ago?” The Bruhs said Trey was wearing leggings and he looked like Scar...DONE!

Danielle asked me if I would be interested in reading her Juneteenth novella I immediately said yes and downloaded it on kindle unlimited. I am going to be honest and say this was the first time I have heard about Juneteenth and what this holiday is. So I was so excited to read a sexy novella centered around it. Trenton and India are such a special couple. I loved their connection. Their meeting is not the best but seeing them turn it around was amazing. They were so fun and sexy and I was so hooked from the first page. I loved getting to learn about Juneteenth and hearing all the ways this holiday is celebrated! This was such a sexy and fun novella with a couple that has amazing chemistry. The ending definitely left me wanting more of these two. I really enjoyed this and I am so happy I read it!!

Sexy and fun! The chemistry between Trenton and India starts strong and only escalates from there. The mutual respect incorporated throughout the story makes this couple one I can imagine staying together for the long haul. It was also interesting to read this whole story from Trenton’s point of view.
The characters meet when they find themselves on the same air travel itinerary to get to a Juneteenth celebration in Galveston, TX. There is some discussion in the story explaining the importance of this day to strangers who don’t understand it, and also discussion of what it would mean for it to be considered a national holiday. I happened to read this right after it was actually made a national holiday in 2021, so seeing this on the page really resonated (with this white reader) in some bittersweet ways. Our country still has a long way to go.

I read this because Danielle posted about it on Instagram and she made it sound so good. I love Danielle, so I just had to jump on this. I read this book in about an hour and just loved it. I loved the dynamic between India and Trenton and you could feel their vibes and their chemistry.
This is the third book in the Hot Holiday Hookup Series which is a series of standalones where friends of Zola Patterson are sharing their hot holiday hookup stories with her because she is a writer.
Trenton is a photographer and India is a singer who happen to meet at an airport and are heading to the same destination, Texas, where they both will be attending a Juneteenth Celebration. Fate worked in their favor in every way in this book. They instantly hit it off and when outside forces (Trey) tried to break them apart, all it did was bring them closer together.

India, 33, and Trenton, 32, meet on a plane in a less than enthusiastic encounter. However, as the flight takes off and they are seated next to each other, they eventually give in to the attraction. She is a singer, and he is a professional photographer hired to photograph the Juneteenth celebration in Galveston, Texas.
There is the meeting with her ex, and his friends weigh in on his attraction to her. I appreciate that there is a solid storyline despite the shortness of the story.
The sexy scenes live up the "hot holiday hookup" description.
The author has the characters inform us of what Juneteenth celebrates and its importance to American history.

Okay, Danielle you have done it again! I've become obsessed with these holiday hook up stories and this one is no different! I love the idea behind them, and I will read every single one that is released!
Something I love about this one is that it incorporated Juneteenth into the story. So many people don't acknowledge Juneteenth as a holiday and you are giving it the recognition it deserves.

HOTTT & STEAMY
This was hands down my favorite of the three Holiday Hookup Novelas. I wasn’t ready for the steamy connection the characters had but I loved every second of it. Even though it was a quick read I was so caught up in the characters and their journey together, I didn’t want it to end. The way Danielle Allen developed these two I’ll never know but I’m so glad she did. DA even dropped some knowledge on the reader in this one. She dropped a nice gem so if you don’t know about this holiday you will after you read this book!! Once again, Danielle Allen amazes me with the depth of her writing from the storyline to the characters development. You won’t want to put this one down!!!

This novella came right on time with the recent events of the world AND with the holiday honoring the freedom of my people!
For some reason, I read the book blindly (as in I did not read the synopsis). I said it’s about Juneteenth, it’s by a black author, ima buy it. I assumed it would have a bbq for sure in it but nope Danielle took it another direction and boyyyy was it a steamy one.
This book had important dialogue about the African American culture and provides understanding for those who may not know. My favorite thing is that the characters were BLACK, and they did BLACK shit with BLACK pride! ✊🏾 read it! You won’t regret it.

I really enjoyed this novella!! It was super quick and easy to read, and I loved that it showed such a strong connection between the main characters in such a short time. Juneteenth is something that I’ve always been taught about being from Texas, but i feel like it gets overlooked and forgotten a lot so it was so awesome to see it recognized here. Whew, only Danielle Allen can make airplane delays and missed flights sexy. Trenton and India’s connection sizzled from the beginning all the way to the end.
Not only was this an entertaining romance but we got some beautiful lessons on the origins and impact of Juneteenth.
Allen’s Hot Holiday Hookup novellas are the perfect short read when you’re looking for an explosive connection between two people without jumping into a full length novel. Allen knows how to give readers just enough to want more while still being satisfied with what we were given. Trenton and India are definitely one of my favorite holiday hookup couples.

Who knew that two people on the same two flights would turn their dilemma into a time they would never forget. Trenton and India made the best out of a bad situation. He changed her bad mood after they found out their first flight would be delayed with departure. The things they were bold enough to do on that plane was shocking. The round two at the airport was even steamier! There chemistry was amazing! Then we also had to factor in the jealous ex who thought he could ruin the love connection they were creating. Joke was on him. I really enjoyed this series. Can't wait to read more from the author.

I'm never, ever going to be able to think about Juneteenth and not smile. The short sexy romp was a nice fantastically journey many of us would love to take before it's too late. Meeting a hot man, giving up the goods and not feeling sorry about your actions, wow, what a way to live. The events of the story centered around a singer and photographer headed for a Juneteenth celebration when they found pleasure in celebrating one another. A fabulous short story.

COME ON!!! I need more India & Trenton! I don't know how Danielle does it but this story was just perfect from top to bottom! The characters, the the plot, the pacing, the content! She hit it out of the park! The irony of Trenton and India meeting in line boarding a plane to the same destination, and to attend most of the same events while there. India, is sassy, fiesty and has quick wit. She was irritated when she first met Trenton, but talking to him mellowed her out. Trenton, laid back guy, about his business, was smitten by India. The more the talked, the more intense the flirting and the chemistry was boiling over! Loved them together! Hope we see more of them in the future. Great read! 👍👍👍

The Delay was such a fun, cute, and sexy novella. I loved Trenton and India's connection. It felt real, not forced at all. I loved that it was set on Juneteenth. Danielle does not miss the opportunity to add a lesson in here and I think that was great. I wish it was a little longer, but other than that, there's nothing that I didn't like about The Delay. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the novellas in this series.

Cute, short, hot novella. India and Trenton met in the airport but India messing up Trenton’s sneakers. After boarding the plan India and Trenton were seated next to each other. India was in a foul mood due to her ex, Trey. India was a singer headed to Texas and Trenton was a photographer headed to Texas also for the Juneteenth celebration. Thing became hot and heavy between India and Trenton. Good read.

Thereafter, I enjoyed India & Trenton chemistry. However, some of the intimate interactions between India & Trent on the plane were an exaggerated fantasy. But, I get it 🤷🏾♀️! Thereafter, I enjoyed India & Trenton chemistry. However, some of the intimate interactions between India & Trent on the plane were an exaggerated fantasy. But, I get it 🤷🏾♀️! Otherwise, I want more of T & I!
