I found this book very helpful to support the explosive chain reaction of motivation, goal setting and massive action taking to derive ultimate meaning from my life. The exercises, priority setting, mindsets, and daily practices were particularly invigorating to rewire my self limiting beliefs during a time where I faced uncertainty, as I had been put out on medical leave from my job as a special education teacher due to a disability. I found the practices to be a great push into the right direction, the concepts, and the stories where historical and popular figures overcame adversities were both inspirational and practical.
For example, I accomplished several goals that are feeding into long term goals, such as doing hundreds of push ups daily, improving my fitness routine, adding LifeUpBoosts to my morning meditation practice (positive mindset shift), expanding my business into multiple streams, taking more risks, and just having positive thoughts running through my mind when i felt negative energy forming, that lead to better decision making towards the goal setting templates that were outlined in the book to achieve your dreams. I found myself wanting to give and lead others more, to do what it is I really want to do in this life, and even have meaningful reflection in an existentially, positive way.
I found myself crying at one point out of the heartfelt writing, during a time of pain from not being able to work my 9-5 job, like my higher self was speaking to me! Part of me wanted to give up. From there I took action to create financial opportunities, such as investing into mentorship to learn forex, options and futures trading, mentorship in fitness, and cultivating an invincible mindset through visualization practice.
Now I am already a driven person, but this book gave me a powerful push during a time of personal hardship, which I am grateful for. The author of this book shares her knowledge of what has best benefited her life to live it to its fullest and overcome adversity, as she has had quite a journey herself, speaking from experience - not merely intellect. I would and I have been recommending this book to anyone interested in the game of self domination.
Natsune Oki’s self-help book, “The Game of Self Domination,” takes being a strong individual to a whole new level. Oki proposes the 15 most practical steps to self-mastery and achieving anything you want to the reader. One of the strongest features of this book is its use of research, experiments, and quotes while giving credit where it is due. I found two specific parts effective in the book when the author talks about picking up positive and negative energy from another and always being able to fix a problem, even if it was a worst-case scenario. I noticed there wasn’t a trigger warning for sexual assault or suicide topics that could turn off certain readers who have gone through those types of experiences. I also found it odd that the assignments presented in the book randomly stop, and one assignment (reading the 70 quotes a day) seems a little too time-consuming. The biggest issue I had with this book were the comments regarding homelessness. One quote in the book goes along the lines of saying, “A homeless person is a failure because he quit on bettering himself and didn’t allocate his ambition and energy to finding his way back.” Maybe it’s a difference of opinions, but I think if you have been homeless in your life at one point, you know the previous statement is not valid. I believe the author did make it up by saying that “being homeless is a status and statuses can change as long as they don’t define your worth.” It’s awe-inspiring that Natsune wrote this book in English when English isn’t her first language. I would have to give “The Game of Self Domination” a 3 out of 5 stars. I liked the book overall, but this personally wouldn’t be my first resource if I wanted to feel better or become successful.

I read hundreds of books a year and many of those are self-help. This book was done exceptionally well. It was clear, direct, informative, and have goals and tools to help the reader and not just pages filled with opinion. I can tell the author truly cares. This book was impressive work.- editor
