I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science with a concentration in history. My interest in England began when the United States Air Force stationed me at RAF Woodbridge, near Ipswich in East Anglia. This is also where I met my husband, who flew fighter aircraft for the United States.

My husband's military career moved the family every two to three years and I wanted a career I enjoyed and could take with me anywhere in the world. We meet while in the military. We dated for about a year before I finally said "hey, so when are you going to marry me." The rest is history for us. Our daughter was born about a year and a half after our wedding and she's been our little terror ever since (granted she is all grown up now).

Today, my husband and I live in Tucson, Arizona. We had two dogs, a cat and a cockatiel. Unfortunatly, our dog Wizard just passed away on 5th of September this year. He had cancer and when they went to operate on him they found that the cancer was enormous and had spread everywhere. We lost him on the operating table. We still have our minature pincher Rosebud, our cat Kid and our cockatiel Bubbie.

I have been in the mood for a few “second chance at love” stories lately and that is why I picked up this one.

Jason is a very tortured and bitter hero. In the past, not only Lilith left him at the altar but he also suffered horribly at the hands of her brother. Now, since she is a widow, he is determined to get his revenge now and, maybe in a tiny bit of his heart, he hopes to make her love him again.

His bitterness leads him to do rash things however and he does abduct Lilith by force, which doesn’t endear him to her. This is a very intensive story because despite Jason being a very alpha male and somewhat abusive Lilith can’t help being has attracted to him as she was years before. She is, however, unable to face the accusations he throws at her and to believe the worst of her brother. After a few nights of passion, which, we realize was Jason’s attempt to win her back, they separate again.

While Jason reveals himself he is a lot more sensitive than his earlier actions show, Lilith seems to need to grow up a bit and see her family and especially her brother for what they really are. There is a lot of heartache and unhappiness here just because they are unable to discuss the past and put it to rest. Readers who like intense stories and occasionally overbearing heroes will love this one.

** Spoiler alert** I'm sorry, but this was the worst in the trilogy for me. The author seems hung up, in these books, on having secondary male characters who are either really weak or utter bastards and who seem to get away with it! That in itself isn't a problem, but what I really didn't like was Lilith's weakness in dealing with her brother, (an utter dirtbag), who has destroyed her fortune and her life. Perth is just a bystander and rightly so. It is up to Lilith to sort her brother out and she is extremely reluctant to do so. One minute she is presented as a strong woman and then she shows real weakness that is never developed enough in the writing to become vulnerability. With all their history together, you would think there would be a slowly dawning knowledge for Lilith over the past 10 years of unhappiness, about her brother's true character - instead it comes as a bombshell to her at the end of the book?! Really unsatisfying ending and, inspite of a great leading man, a heroine I could not respect.

3.5 stars but rounded down.

Perfectly acceptable and enjoyable romance, focused on a couple who were to be married a decade ago but our lady was pressured into a different arrangement by her family who were in need of money (of course). Ages aren't given but I'm inferring late20s woman, mid30s man.

The setup is a bit odd and the actual scenario mostly ignored later, the real meat of the story is the two of them resolving personal issues between the two of them and removing an outside obstacle. There is some very nice drama, and a good resolution for our couple.

One of the better things about this book is that you get to see glimpses of our main characters with their friends, who they are supported by and lean on for help.

I'm not expecting great literary fiction but I didn't think that knowing Whist was a game for four people and that no one in their right mind would put cream in their tea would have been too much strain on the research front....
