Nerdy Babies is a series that will ignite curiosity in even the youngest readers and encourage them to ask questions and explore the world around them.
In Nerdy Dinosaurs , follow our intrepid babies into the Mesozoic Era. Experience the different shapes, sizes, and colors of the reptiles that roamed the Earth before us. Plus, learn about how dinosaurs evolved over millions of years until becoming extinct in this simple text written in question-and-answer format.
With bright artwork by Emmy Kastner, Nerdy Babies is a series that the very littlest nerds will want to return to again and again.
Stay curious. There’s more to learn about everything!
I've drawn many pictures of dogs and monsters in my life, many of which you could find on the edges of math homework and science tests. I've always been a storyteller, learning the art of exaggeration early on.
My husband and I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan with our three young kids. I’m forever looking to be surrounded by books, food and laughter (in any order). I spend my days in my studio that lives above our coffee shop, Factory Coffee.
As a former classroom teacher, I taught high school English Language Arts, Biology, and Integrated Science. I'm cofounder of Read and Write Kalamazoo (RAWK) — a literacy-focused nonprofit modeled after 826 National. RAWK is devoted to celebrating and amplifying youth voices through the cultivation of reading and writing skills, via joy, creativity, equity and access.

I read this book as a prospect for a future family storytime to pair with a dinosaur event that the library would be attending and after reading this book I was both thrilled and disappointed.
The book gave excellent facts and history about the dinosaurs but with the language intended for adult comprehension. With a title like "Nerdy Babies", I imagined the terminology that would be used in this kind of book would have been tailored to suit infants and toddlers rather than older audiences. Reading a story to children with words like, "mesozoic, cretaceous, and paleontologist," would seem to me to go over kids heads. An "in one ear, out the other," kind of situation.
Again, it saddens me to have to say that I won't be able to include it in a storytime for my toddlers and preschoolers, because the information is wonderful. I would probably recommend this book to grade school children for the purpose of information retention.
One of the more detailed Nerdy Babies books. Aside from the different dinosaurs included, this book brings in the concept of time periods - Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous.
Yet the Nerdy Babies series is all about being curious and learning more. Therefore, I’m glad bigger concepts like this are included. They provide a great doorway through which investigation and teaching can journey!
I recommend this book as a way to not only learn a little about the “terrible lizards” but start deeper learning into their world.
very detailed book intended for children with short attention spans??? A children's book does not always have to rhyme or talk baby ... I read college textbooks about dinosaurs to my toddlers and they loved it but somehow I did not think this worked as well as it could have. Maybe a few more explanations about dinosaur life????
Oh boy, 19 month old and I were not into this one...too wordy and confusing layout. Also seems like it's more for older kids, which isn't a bad thing just meant that she didn't pay much attention.
This is a great introduction for little ones to dinosaurs. Wonderfully presented with very interesting and educational descriptions and vivid illustrations in this board book.
