About the author

Nick Bruel is the New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of children's books including Bad Kitty, Bad Kitty Gets a Bath, Bad Kitty Meets the Baby, and Boing!, among others. Nick is a freelance illustrator and cartoonist, and during his down time, he collects PEZ dispensers and grows tomatoes in the backyard. He lives in Tarrytown, NY with his wife Carina and their lovely cat Esmerelda.

It's bedtime, but Bad Kitty has other plans, she wants to play, sing, and run. Kitty is coaxed to prepare for bed by being told if she gets ready for bed there will be time for a story. Read along and see what happens. CATS RULE! DOGS DROOL!

Who wants to go to bed? Bad Kitty sure does not....except when there is the promise of a book. That elusive bedtime story.

I personally did not find this book that earth shattering. (Scott was on the fence himself).

It's bedtime, but Kitty doesn't want to get ready for bed. Kitty has a whole list of other ideas for what to do right now. But with a story dangling as bribery, maybe Kitty will get ready for bed.

Bad Kitty and small children have many similarities as are obvious from reading this book. I can see parents reading this and simultaneously laughing and crying because it reads all too true to life. Oh, and laughing because Kitty's antics are quite funny. She gets positive reinforcement for doing things well, and verbally redirected when she is doing things she shouldn't. Bruel's illustrations, as always, convey the comedy so very, very well.

Kitty does not want to go to bed because kitty has so many other things to do before bedtime, like singing, running, etc. However, kitty also really likes reading stories for bed, and knows that he doesn’t get to read his bedtime story unless he does the other things he needs to do before bed like brushing his teeth and putting on his pajamas.

While I like the book very much, I wish that the similarity of the cover to Goodnight Moon's had been developed in the book and not just for the cover. I had been hoping for a Bad Kitty Goodnight Moon. 😢

A perfect book to be used at a reading event for younger students (especially if it is held after school)! Typical funny text and a familiar character that most students love! Two thumbs up! Nothing new, but still will be well-received.

Kids will relate to Bad Kitty and will probably enjoy the book. It's a good story time offering. I found the ending to be very abrupt.

This is a funny read about the bedtime routine that Bad Kitty so much wants to avoid. But the desire to read a story trumps not wanting to go to bed.

This was okay. Bad Kitty does not want to get ready for bed. But she does really like stories, so her owner uses that as a carrot to get her to get ready for bed. But she's not tired... or is she? I like how the curtains on the corner are reminiscent of Goodnight, Moon.
