When Natylia wakes in the hands of the enemy, her hopes of saving Araenna seem slim at best. And with no knowledge of where Camion, Jyn, Meryn, and Andimir might be—or if she even has a kingdom to return to—her growing despair feeds the darkness trying to lay claim to her magic. Days go by while she’s tormented by her captor, but the world goes on regardless. And so do the Titans determined to destroy it.
Natylia needs an army. She needs allies. She needs her family, her friends.
And more than anything, she needs to escape.
Race across the three kingdoms in this epic conclusion to the award-winning Thanatos Trilogy and join the fight! For freedom. For family.
Tyffany Hackett is an award-winning author of Young Adult and New Adult Fantasy. Her stories are filled with strong women, found family, powerful friendships, and lots of loveable cinnamon rolls. Residing in Upstate New York, Tyffany spends her days corralling her little minecraft addict and her nights trying to make the words go. In her down time you can find her killing reapers, darkspawn, or battling for the horde.
Perfect ending to this trilogy! This series has a strong female lead, a found family, and lots of banter! You're going to want to get your hands on this series so you can meet my book boyfriend, Camion... [image error]
I don’t even know where to really begin with this book because… Oh my lord, THIS BOOK! Be forewarned, this review won’t contain purposeful spoilers, but since it’s the last book in a trilogy, if you haven’t read the first two books then 1. You should go do that—immediately. And 2. This review may spoil some things from those books just because that’s the nature of this particular beast. I don’t usually fangirl in my book reviews, but when it comes to Hackett’s books, it’s really hard for me not to. Her stories are magical and full of adventure and twists and turns, her characters are endearing and complex, she gives you just enough sweetness before punching you in the gut, but then makes it up to you with fun character banter. “Ventus” pays off on all of the set up from the previous two books but with some of my favorite character arcs and redemptions of the whole series.
It’s impossible not to love Nat, Camion, Meryn, Jyn, and Andimir. We had the privilege of watching this crew come together, battle the forces against them, and still shoulder the burden of trying to save a kingdom that has done nothing but hate their queen (rude of them). Nat is one of the most relatable royals I’ve read in a long time. She isn’t all powerful, she gets knocked down almost as much as she does something awesome. She is brought to the brink of being broken, and it’s a testament to the power of her love for Cam and her friends that she is able to keep going after what she endures. It’s a beautiful sentiment, and it’s such a powerful thing to build a book around. It’s a great message for young readers too, especially ones who may struggle to see themselves in characters who are naturally good at everything, that don’t struggle with anxiety. The friendships in this book shine as always, but I have to say, the redemption of one of the former bad guys was probably one of my favorite things about this final book.
I love me a good redemption arc, especially one that’s as believably crafted as Hackett has accomplished. It’s so easy to pass off a character as irredeemable because of their mistakes, but watching them see they were wrong, admit they were wrong, and become comfortable with changing their mind about opinions they held for so long… I didn’t know how much I needed that from a character until they were waving at me from the page. There are other amazing things in this book of course, there’s more incredible magic, we see more of the Titans and their devastating powers, we get more Dwarves, and smoldering looks from broody boys, there’s touching true love stories, heart pounding action, and scary magical creatures—plus a few really cute ones that I desperately want for myself! But the redemption arc was unexpected in a truly wonderful way, and I appreciated that the author was able to redeem this character, and I hope to see more of them maybe in the future?
I had the privilege of beta reading an early draft of “Ventus” and the book gutted me then, and even more so in its final form. Despite the heartbreak that comes naturally with any last book in a trilogy, this book left me feeling so deliciously content and satisfied come the final page, too. This is honestly the closest I’ve ever come to a true book hangover where I can’t immediately start a new book. It’s been an absolute pleasure to follow Hackett on her writing journey and I am so beyond proud of her and what she’s accomplished with her series that there are just no words… Even if I didn’t know the author personally, I’d still gush and recommend this series to the moon and back. The author CARES about her characters, her books, her readers, and it shows in every page, and every word. So yeah, of course this gets 5 stars from me! Do yourself a favor: read this series. Share this series. Give it to the teenagers in your life so they know family doesn’t always mean blood, and you can accomplish great things with the power of love and hope.
FEEEEELS!! OMG my poor little heart has gone through so many emotions. This book, it is AMAZING. Such a perfect ending to the Thanatos Trilogy. I love it so much 🖤🖤🖤 All the characters have gone through such tremendous growth. I adore them. There isn’t much I can say without giving spoilers but everything in this final book was fantastic. Definitely recommend this trilogy.
A huge thanks to Tyffany for trusting me with and ARC. I love you and you are amazing!
DISCLAIMER: I WAS GIVEN A FREE ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.
I think I’ve finished picking up the pieces of my broken heart.
I finished reading this book two days ago, but I needed time to process everything that happened. Ventus was the perfect conclusion to this amazing trilogy, brutal and bittersweet since the very first pages. Natylia is pushed to her limits like never before, and she steps up to embrace her magic to the best of her abilities for the good of her loved ones, yes, but also for the good of those who have scorned her in the past. A true queen, who proves her worth from the first chapter until the very last. Though she isn’t the only character who has to face unspeakable trials. Everyone is tested, scarred, brought to the brink of death. Literally.
I especially loved Camion’s journey. He’s always been a wonderful character, but Ventus is where he truly shines and shows his strength. He’s not an elf, not a fearsome pirate. He’s a human, with a good heart and with his baggage of scars both inside and out, and right when things were darkest, right when anyone would have broken beneath the weight of everything he’d had to endure, he persevered. He stayed strong, and was the shoulder Natylia needed, her steadfast support, as she was for him. Their relationship gained so much more once we got to see the depth of their love and understanding, and how much they were willing to shoulder for each other.
Another character who I appreciated even more in this book is Andimir. There was a moment—and I won’t go into too many details to avoid spoilers—in which he steps up and was the glue holding everyone together. He was perfect. Of course, Jyn is always my bae. Always. I loved every moment he opened his mouth to speak because that’s how much of a trashcan I am for him. And Meryn, sweet Meryn, strong Meryn. I love her too.
I have shed more than a few tears over certain scenes, I have raged and rejoiced and cried again. This book was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, and if I could have entered its pages to protect every one of my beloved characters from heartbreak and pain, I would. If I could have been their shield, I would have been the fiercest shieldmaiden in the battlefield. If I could have sat with them when it was hardest, and laughed with them through the good times, I would. Tyffany Hackett created a wonderful cast of characters that is hard to say goodbye to. So here I am, hoping that there will be a spin off series in the future.
Okay, guys, this one is a tough review to write. This is book three and the final book in the Thanatos Trilogy and I'm not ready for it to be over. For those of you who have read my blog since the beginning (hi mom!) or have scrolled back, you'll know that Imber and Tellus were the very first books I reviewed here. As I've gone on through my book blog to start a bookstagram I've actually been able to talk to Tyffany and joined her street-team and writer's discord. Seeing the things she has been talking about over the last year actually come together into a book is so awe-inspiring and when I finished the book the thrill of seeing my name mentioned in the thank you's made me cry. Tyffany's impact on my life goes beyond her wonderful books to a permanent imprint on what it means to be a writer.
Alrighty now that the sappy stuff is out of the way, the actual review. AHAHAHHSHDOIFPSDJ SDOJPO JCOPWNPj. The feelings, the emotions, You are right there in the thick of it with them the whole time. Laughs and smiles and torments.
I have extreme apologies to make to our dearest Lucian for accusations I made in the last review.
Also, I will sword fight anyone and everyone for Jyn's happiness. He is my book-boyfriend....(sorry hubby)
Our Queen Natylia and her dearest Camion go through a lot of trauma in this book which leads to a trigger warning for abuse. "He had my heart in chains and every second that ticked past was an eternity that pounded in my ears." Nat loses her temper a few times as she learns to manage her power and cope with her unstable life. " My fist, wrapped in sparkling magic, slammed into his jaw before I could think the motion through. The hit was an immediate shower of ice water to my rage."
The only downside I had was there were so many characters by the final battle that I couldn't keep track of them all. The front of the book has a sort-of glossary of characters so I think reading the physical book or to be smart enough to put a bookmark on the e-book page would solve that problem. (Or be better with names than I am lol)
I pre-ordered the full set and am so excited to have physical copies to be able to reread and show off on Bookstagram!
Where are my feelings? Oh, glad you asked. Ventus ripped them all out of my poor little heart.
The conclusion to Tyffany Hackett's Thantos trilogy is as exciting and heart-wrenching as I expected it to be, as Natylia comes into her own and aims to take back what's hers. Fans of the trilogy will not be disappointed -- though I do suggest keeping a box of tissues handy.
The end to a trilogy. Having to say goodbye to dear friends. But seeing them through to the end of their journey was worth the wait, and the pain. Nat and her friends are in the clutches of deadly titans. They need allies and they need them fast. Time is running out and the stakes are high. We follow these characters who are struggling to cope with the trauma of the past two books. However, their loyalty and love for one another never fades. The character work and relationships in this trilogy are so incredibly well done and are the highlight of the series for me. And even though the challenges there are moments of genuine happiness for these characters too. The ending was satisfying and tied up all open plot threads well. While I was heartbroken by the end of the book I was also glad for our characters who made it though. I melt for the romance and I’m glad to have read the series.
What a fantastic end to a wonderful series! Hackett didn't go easy on her characters, but their stories and arcs all wrapped up in such a perfect-for-them way.
If you love the Thanatos trilogy you won't be disappointed by this final installment! The world and lore expands so much even as Nat & friends make their way back to Thrais. The relationships here deepen in such a beautiful way. And one character in particular gets a redemption arc that I die for!
I can't recommend this series enough! Please see my reviews of Imber and Tellus to learn more about why I love this series so much. I can't believe it's over but I thoroughly enjoyed the entire journey.
*I received a free copy of this book from the author*
O!M!G! My heart shattered so many times. Mainly for Camion. How anyone could torture and hurt him that bad is beyond me. I thought my heart would beat right out of my chest. A few times, I wanted to throttle Nat for not using her magic to end his suffering but I also understand why she didn’t. The whole situation was heartbreaking. I could’ve kissed Lucian for all he did when he rescued them. I was extremely glad to see him join the group but I also felt bad for him when some took a long time to accept him even after all he did to help.
Jyn and Andimir! Now, I can honestly say, I did NOT see that coming. I can usually smell a romance brewing a mile away but I am not disappointed. I was hoping there would be someone for Lucien by the end of all this since he also lost everyone and his world turned upside down.
This was a heart wrenching read for so many reasons. A lot I didn’t even mention. I was on the edge the whole time. Mostly with tears in my eyes. 5 stars. Highly recommended.

Okay, who gave you the right to rip my heart out. UGHHHH. This finale was so phenomenal, I'm still reeling. I died and I died and I died and I was resurrected and then I died again. This one is a roller-coaster in all the best ways. SOOOO much shipper satisfaction, so much ANGST! Powerful moments from Natylia, the groooowth! A REDEMPTION ARC. TEEEEARS. How is everything I love packed into one book? I seriously can't.
It has been such a pleasure to follow along with this series and see the characters grow and thrive through their hardships. Honestly, I've learned a lot about found family and strength through these books and I'm so grateful I got to experience them.

I had the honor of beta reading this book and it was amazing, heart breaking, exciting, and so, so good. I am leaving this review here for now until I do a full review when I read the final version. I am sure it is even more epic than when I beta read it. Even so, my rating will remain 5 stars. Highly recommend this book and all of the Thanatos Trilogy.
I'm going to start by talking about the fact that my favorite part about this book (even though it broke my heart) was HOW WELL Natylia's grief was portrayed. It was just so well done and expertly handled. The way it would creep up on Natylia, how she felt lost in it, and then how she would be going through things only to suddenly remember and feel completely bowled over by the memory of the fact that she would never see him again. I just thought it felt really real and was done so well.
I have really loved this series, more so for the characters than the plot. The plot definitely completely lost me with this third book with all the random gods or whatever showing up. There was just too much going on there that I wasn't interested in and that didn't really do much for the story. But the characters. This is definitely a character-driven series, and I loved all our kids to no end.
Natylia has come so far from the untrained princess we started out with. She had fought and endured and is so determined to take care of the people she loves and protect her kingdom. I loved Camion and my heart broke over how they were both tortured, and how they didn't let it break them. They are so incredible and amazing and I love them to no end. I adore Jyn, forever and always, and I think my favorite thing, which I wish we could have spent more time on, was the growing relationship between Jyn and Andimir. OHMYGOSH, my two faves getting completely MADE MY LIFE. I would like an entire book just about the two of them, please and thank you very much. Meryn is the greatest and I love her and all the changes she faced as she discovered who she really was. I loved her and Sylvr and completely died over the two of them. Lucian definitely grew on me over the course of this book and I liked how he became a part of the group and how they came to trust him. His redemption was really great.
I loved all our characters and the bonds between them and the journey they went on. I loved how good and amazing they all were. I adored our mains and their arcs throughout the series. I definitely recommend this series for anyone who loves a good romance, an epic friendship, and an adventure to save the land.
Ventus is book 3 and the final book in the Thanatos Trilogy and is a Young Adult/New Adult High/Epic Fantasy novel.
Book Cover: 4* - Continuing with the more environmental atmospheric feel, this cover is just as cool as the others, but this time it's like brown with some orange. The protagonist stands ready to fight against enemies ready to destroy all of humanity and anyone who sides with them, while the sun rises over the horizon. No doubt this book will throw challenge after challenge at Natylia and her friends, and I'm sure sacrifices will be made whether they like it or not. Ok, lets get these tears over with lol *cries on the couch*
Summary/Tagline: 5* - We fight for our family. Whatever it takes. That's it. I'm already in love. Despite that Natylia is captured, I seriously can't wait to see where this final story will go, and how it will end. Let's go!
Characters: 5* - Oh man, this book was definitely more character focused with all the trauma Natylia and Camion attained at the start of this book. I'll try my best to keep it spoiler free, but just be prepared for sooooome torture . . . and possibly a character death that made me cry . . . until it didn't lol. I'M SORRY! I don't know what else to say without spoilering. Just, just prepare yourself mkay lol.
World Building: 5* - Oh man, because we go from torture, to fighting, to just a straight up battle over humanity and magic, there wasn't as much new things to learn in this book, but because of certain characters, we get to learn about elven magic and titan magic. It was all so amazing . . . oh and more tears lol *cries into her pillow*
Story: 5* - Ok, this is the final book in this trilogy, so I will NOT spoil most of it. The story starts where it left off, Natylia being captured and tortured to use her magic to reunite the scepters. True natures revealed, emotional, physical, and mental tortures made, Natylia has to try and get out, gather the allies and armies she needs to stop the titans before the most powerful is awakened to destroy them all. Time is running out for her and her friends, and she needs to think fast. This book was straight up tense and harrowing from start to finish, with tears shed, angry screaming made, and more tears shed. I'm actually kind of sad to say goodbye to these characters lol *cries hugging the trilogy*
Over All: 5* - Oh man, this final book left me reeling in tears, both sad and happy ones. It was tense, keeping me at the edge of my seat, and I can't believe it's over. Despite raging a little and making me cry, I'm giving the final book in this story 5 stars because it deserves it and I loved every character to the very end, including one who grew on me after infuriating me for most of this trilogy lol. I seriously can't wait to read more books from this author, because I just can't get enough of her characters, stories, and fantastical worlds. Give me more please!
Oh man, what an ending! An epic, satisfying conclusion to the Thanatos Trilogy. I adored this series and all of it's characters! Natylia's and Camion's journey together is heartbreaking and beautiful. They go through so much, but they never let each other forget that they are there for the other. No matter how dark things seem, they will always be there to lead each other into the light once again. That they can do anything together. This is true partnership. Jyn is just too perfect in the stern, sometimes grumpy, but always there for you as a best friend kind of way, and I want to protect him at all costs! My heart damn near broke after one revelation early in the book. (I don't want to spoil some things you just have to experience yourself.) Then, when a relationship between him and [again, don't want to spoil!] started developing...gah! I loved it so much! I would absolutely LOVE a spin off novella with these two characters! Pleeeease Tyffany!?
Highly recommend this series for anyone who loves sweet romance (no spice in this series), adventure, underdogs fighting against all odds, and found family. I also highly recommend Tyffany's other series, The Genesis Crystal Saga, and her standalone, Daylight's Curse!
Favorite Quotes Nat: "Evil isn't a blood type. You're evil or you're not. If you're clever, you can change your path no matter which way it's pointed."
Nat to Cam: "They didn't destroy you. They broke you. But you know what? If a sword breaks, you don't throw the blade away and call it quits. You take the time to reforge, to salvage all the shattered pieces and make them strong again. Why would you be any different? [...] It's easy to let the darkness in. To let the dark fog creep into the corners of your mind and push out all your hope. But you've never let me forget, so I won't let you. Darkness doesn't kill hope, it drowns the light. And I'm not going to let Valdis extinguish the brightest light I've ever known. [...] I love you, in darkness and in light."
Kalia: "There is always hope, young one. When all is too heavy and the world feels dark, the light will shine out. The sun will rise, the night will fade. And with each new light, there is hope."

I have been chomping at the bit to read book 3 Ventus, by Tyfanny Hackett. Book 2 left me with a cliffhanger, so I purchased this as soon as it was out. Oh boy, it didn't disappoint. Since I don't want any spoilers here I will just say the teasing romance continued, the adventure, danger, magic and mystery ramped up to another level. The diversity of characters and back stories of some of the characters really gave further depth to the story. I loved the level of acceptance amongst this cast. There are so many lessons some hidden, some not. In the end I couldn't have loved this final story more, it was so beautifully written.
Is it actually time to say goodbye? I love these characters, and I feel like their journey ended beautifully. I’m putting it out there that I’m all for a novella in the future. Please? Haha, I just love them. Jyn forever. The author does so well with balancing the characters strength and vulnerability. It’s why I believed in Natylia since book one.
You get everything you could want from the last book in a trilogy. Epic fights, well-executed executed plot-twists, and great moments with the characters you've fallen in love with through the series. You WILL go through every emotion as you read this book. Extreme happiness followed by hollowing sadness and then shock and laughter.
I am satisfied with the ending. This book's events are powerful, exciting, and inspiring.
All though, I for some reason thought
There were a lot of titan names I just could not remember, honestly. But I was still able to enjoy things having to flip back to the front of the book and read who the titan is.
This book as my fav characters and character dynamics/relationships of all the books I read this year. Makes me love the found family trope even more. I'm so glad I got to read their adventure. And it will live on in my heart.
I’ve been following the plight of Nat, Cam, Jyn and the gang since the beginning and couldn’t get enough of them.
I loved following them on their quests and adventures and the interesting side stories. The characters were so well thought out that I could imagine what they looked like and it felt like I almost knew them.
