I found this book while clearing out my mum’s apartment (she has moved into a care home). She was a follower of Saj Mharg and travelled yearly to India with her sister to visit the leader, and after he died to one of the “wise lady” disciples, so it is fascinating for me to read the teachings. In fact it is very similar to the philosophy of the yoga path that I follow. Saj Mharg is yoga philosophy through meditation as a tool, whereas the ashtanga yoga mysore style uses asana as a tool, yet with the same aims. It makes me realise that I actually stumbled upon a path with a daily discipline (for 11 years already now) which was actually similar to the one my mum was into- what a nice connection!
He writes in quite a modern way, with living in the real world as a householder with a job and family being applauded instead of thinking one needs to meditate all day long- no! Bring the philosophy and light into the real world by your actions and interactions with others. He also simply states that all religions are simply a tool. In fact religion is a tool that is often misused and can stand in the way, and that true God is beyond religion, with self realisation being a way to see God, as we are magnificent manifestations of the universe. I found this book inspiring and well put, and it’s best to read it slowly, although my attention wandered in the latter chapters.

"God is not to be found within the fold of a particular religion or sect. He is not confined within certain forms or rituals, nor is He to be traced out from within the scriptures. Him we have to seek for in the innermost core of our heart."
" Mechanical form of worship, commonly adopted by those hankering after gods and goddesses to serve their worldly ends is also another absurdity. It is no worship at all. They only play the part of a labourer, so to say, and at the close they get their day wages for the physical labour done."
Saint Kabir has nicely expressed the idea in the following lines:
पाहन पूजे हरि मिले, तो पूजिये पहाड़।
 ताते यह चक्की मिली, पीस खाय संस्कार।।
" If by worshiping stone one can reach god I shall be ready to worship a mountain. For this purpose the grinding - stone which grinds the corn to feed the world may be better."
" The form of worship commonly thought to be more advanced is to sing or recite in chorus, lines in praise of the god or goddess they worship. People assemble together in parties and at late hours in the night, sing in chorus at the top of their voice disturbing the calm atmosphere of the night. They think that they are thereby discharging a pious duty of injecting, as they say, into the ears of as many as they can, the sacred name of God. Not only this, they sometimes even make use of microphones to broadcast the sound. They are totally unmindful of the discomfort or inconvenience it might cause to persons who may possibly be in need of quiet repose after their day's tiring labour or illness. I t may, at the same time, be offering serious disturbance to those who practice meditation in the calm hours of the night."

Reality at Dawn by Ram Chandra is a very simple (yet explaining complex concept) for practitioners of spirituality.

I've read this book several times and every time I get something new which I was unable to comprehend earlier (just like a hiker on a mountain gets better view while climbing up).

The #1 reason I recommend this book is help in setting our heights Goal of this Life. nJoy!

Meditation in post-modern world is a difficult task, as many sects promote their own method of meditation. But the major problem we face is which of them is actually authentic and we fail to realise that whether we are investing our time or wasting it. This book shapes your inner conscience in such a way that you will eliminate this problem entirely from your life. Meditation to its fullest extent is explained in this book in real sense. The final chapters of the book deals with a specific system of meditative practice called "Sahaj Marg". These chapters explains the superiority of this method of meditation with logic and proof. They explain about the meditative practices integrated with ancient wisdom.

A good book on spirituality. Concept of Spirituality and sahaj marg (Heartfullness meditation) is discribed. Discussion is made regarding religion, god and purpose of life. Topics discussed can't be termed as very simple. Overall the book will be a good experience and a must readfor people who are curious about spirituality.
