A Forbidden Romance

How long can they fight the forbidden?

It takes a tragedy to bring German back to town. A lot has changed since he ducked out in the middle of the night three years ago, leaving behind an ailing grandmother and a confused younger brother. He doesn’t expect forgiveness. He damn sure doesn’t plan to stick around long enough to acknowledge the unresolved feelings that sent him running in the first place.

That’s the lie he tells himself.

Serch is a good boy. The woman who raised him demanded nothing less and he refused to break her heart the way German did. But she’s gone now and German is at his doorstep, an apology on his lips, pain, and yearning bleeding from his fingertips. Nothing is the same, not even the forbidden connection they’ve always fought. Serch doesn’t know if he can trust his heart to the man who betrayed him with a smile on his face and love in his eyes, but it doesn’t matter.
This time, he’s taking everything that should have been his.

This book features content of a taboo nature. Please heed the warning.

I’m a big fan of Avril Ashton and enjoyed so many of her books but lately, she's become a hit or miss for me, and unfortunately, this is a miss. There is no strong plot here. I don’t like German; I don’t know what’s wrong with him but I can’t connect with his character. Maybe it was the wrong time to read it. Hope you enjoy it more than me!

Gaaah, no-one writes these as good as Avril Ashton.

She is the absolute queen of making you care for people who really shouldn't be getting any feelings other than shock.

Hot as the proverbial fires of Hell and as twisted as the road paved with good intentions 😉

started out with excellent tension, i was really feeling it, they were sexy afff, but felt really meh about them towards the end….i mean the whole plot is just them fucking and ex drama💀 and also the dex/deacon plot line which like i’m sorry but i don’t really wanna hear how much both the mcs are individually attracted to them and would want to hit when german and serch just got together😭 also, i think having the mcs already in love with each other and all they do is give in and that’s their growth wrapped up is disappointing. like where was the romance??? it was basically just erotica. always love a good enema scene tho

Filthy and painful! There were a lot of times that I have to pause because I found myself gasping. The wrongness in its full glory made this one a winner for me.

The cheating tag is for the two MC's - brothers - doing things while one, German, is in a relationship with someone. They don't cheat on each other when they're together, though.

So whew, I don't know quite what to think of this one. It's hot, for sure, and it is for sure incest and while I don't read it much - outside of just straight up erotica, i guess - I do read it sometimes. I have an interesting reading relationship with incest. Sometimes it just works and I enjoy it and other times I'm just like "no no noppee." Pseudo-incest I love just fine (because it's not actual incest) but actual incest can be a hit or miss for me.

This was a hit in a lot of ways. These two were hot AF together and the sex was off the charts - of course it was. The romance was a little...less, and I didn't really get too much where the romantic connection came between them and most of it felt like just lust and sex.

The first 50% if this book was pretty good too, I was quite enjoying it. Just the build up between these two, the sexual tension, when they (well, more German) finally give in - that push and pull, the UST, then when they just go for it...it was all great.

But then it started to get a little...meh. A plot was introduced with Serch working as a bodyguard that introduced him to Dax - and then later Deacon - the two twins from another book of Ashton's, and they find out about the twins and the twins find out about Serch and German and there's this weird tension between all 4 and I seriously thought the author was gonna do a whole sibling incest foursome - she didn't - and that was about go a little wayyy to unrealistic a stretch for me. There was definite attraction though and Dax offers with Serch and it was just a little too much for me.

And I get that if I just get over if it's realistic or not and just enjoy the story, that would be fine, but for me two set of incest siblings almost have an incest foursome is a little much for me lol. Maybe not for others, but for me, yeah. And it's not even exactly my monogamous preferences - because with incest it just feels different because they're not supposed to be together and it really isn't right or okay so it doesn't work like a regular non-incest relationship - just that I can't quite wrap my head around two sets of siblings saying fuck it and fucking lmao. Not that this book went there, but it totally almost did, lbr.

And aside from that, then the book just got into annoying territory for me. Ricky, a past hook-up of Serch's - who Serch would call German - randomly decides to be a nuisance because he finds out exactly who German is and does a whole stink of threatening to tell others, and that's what really gets Serch and German involved with Dax - who works for the Vega dude from a past book - but just when the Ricky problem is solved, Ben just randomly comes back.

That just made me roll my eyes, because he just stayed in town for however long with his parents instead of going back to his life? And he shows up and acts all lovey dovey towards German who pretty succinctly broke up with him and broke his heart and acts confused when German is all "no I meant to break up with you." It just felt a tad ridiculous to me. And then and it was like he just wouldn't go away and I just didn't care for him.

Then I started to skim here and there, because the plot that was there was just a bit too ridiculous for me to handle, and there was a lot of sex near the end anyway, and at that point I felt I'd read enough sex between these two. And then at the end there was even which I don't really care for and this basically ends right after that, so these two get a HEA, but it wasn't a very amazing HEA ending - which, again, makes sense for a mostly erotic incest book, but still. These two love each other? How about some romance at the end, even a little? I mean they obviously care for each other and we see that, but still.

Overall this just didn't quite work for me. If it had stayed mainly just these two with sex and having to hide it, without the plot added halfway for...whatever reason - maybe to keep it going? This could have been shorter without the added unnecessary plot points and still be great - then I would have rated this higher. (Also the unnecessary almost incest foursome that wasn't lol)

But for what it was, I did enjoy it, especially the first half, and the sex was hot AF most of the time and these two did have amazing chemistry. I just could have done without a large portion of the plot that was shoved into the story in the latter half and wish this had had a better ending.

This is also still an amazing author - Call the Coroner will always be a favorite of mine - but maybe if one does incest they shouldn't try to make it more than it is - some hot erotica. Because realistically would two brothers committing incest run into another brother twincest pairing and would they all contemplate a foursome? No. Would others who find out be good with it? (Serch tells his best friend and boss about him and German and he's somehow okay with it) No. And did we really need the extended plot of several people finding out - or Serch's ex Amanda showing up randomly throughout - and them having to "deal with it"?? Nah. It just dragged this down, imo.

But still, hot sex between two brothers, the forbidden-ness of it all? That is hot and enjoyable.

This started off promising but turned out to be almost straight-up erotica. If you like a lot of sex and kink give it a shot. I wanted more character and relationship development. I realize with brocest/twincest a lot of the pull of the story is the taboo nature, but I need more than we're brothers, it's wrong. I didn't feel the attraction or chemistry between Serch and German and it never developed for me. I felt the brotherly relationship, but not the romantic or love beyond it other than they liked having sex with each other.

Also, as much as they worried about what they were doing, they seemed to have no sense of self-preservation - sex in public, not covering windows, not locking doors.

As much as I enjoy kink I just started skimming all the sex scenes about halfway through. I guess I wanted more of an exploration of their feelings and their relationship than them having sex.

SERCH SERCH STEPHEN SERCH!

5 star for the amazing banter this novel allowed between me and the hilarious Laurel

+ 1 star for Serch
+ 1 for Serch wrapping his hair up in a microfiber towel to soak up the moisture. Yasss I was so proud 😅😂
+1 for hitting on a major bi-sexual prejudice in the black community or rather in the world even if it was brief
- 1 star for German
- 1 star for Ben coming in and out like he owned the place
- 1 star for butt plugs
- 1 star for all the other shit ain't made no sense
- 1 star for lack of consistency in the d/s dynamic
- 1 for their carelessness: cameras, not locking doors ect...

Grand total: 2 stars

I can't stand German's shady plugged up ass LOL

I didn't buy their relationship. German got what he needed from Ben and I was never convinced that he was with Serch for any other reason but the fact that it was taboo. Not because he loved him or because he found him so irresistible. It was only because of the taboo... In every other aspect he could easily be with anyone else. He even lusted after others ugh !

Deacon winked at him, German turned to face the door, giving them his back. If he stayed in that room one more minute he'd be stripping down and begging any of them to fuck him.

Me:

Meanwhile Serch to anyone who will listen: no thanks, I'm taken

There was simply no way he was gonna do anything as stupid as give his body to anyone else. He was made for German

Also... wayy too much sex and not enough plot. Problem for me but probably not for others

Buddy Read with Chellabration

First, the cover. Serch is not a snack, he’s the WHOLE damn meal.

description

Second, this book has incest, humiliation kink, D/S (younger brother being the dominant one), choking, cum play, fisting, peepholes, enemas, mentions of fucking oneself with a broom handle 😂. While not all of this is exactly “my thing”, It’s no secret Avril Ashton can write smut. Filthy, sexy, so wrong yet so right. If you take this as a porn without much plot, this is perfect.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. Preferably, I would have loved more in depth exploration on their attraction to one other, outside of lust. Also, there was a tad bit of OTT dramatic scenes around 71% . I wasn’t expecting it from this type of book, although, I probably should have with the introduction of Dax from Avril’s other books. I also like how Naz and James from In Dreams made an appearance.

The story was entertaining and made for some fun discussions for my buddy read.

While I don’t seek out taboo books; I will read one every now and then; so it’s not the subject matter that’s creating my low rating.

This is basically porn-with-“plot”. Hot porn, but a ridiculous plot. It’s choppy, inconsistent, and led the story nowhere.

There’s really no romance to be had here, and a few sexual elements(fisting, enema) that were too much for me, and some cheating(on a partner not on each other) that I didn’t care for.

I’d say if you’re looking for some straight up erotica this might strike your fancy as the steam is smokin’ and plentiful.

*****Highly Filthy Recommend*****

For Fans of #brocest #taboo #SecondChanceRomance #SecretRelationship #YoungerTopOlderBottom

Why read this book you ask?
Let's break it down, shall we!

1. The Brocest.
I know it's taboo and not for everyone BUT, the brothers in this story made me believe in their "forbidden" love. Their bond was strong and after a coincidental peep show... Well let's just say.... Serch couldn't keep his hands off German for one more minute...

2. German who is older btw, craves certain aspects in his sexual encounters. He then finds out that Serch, his little bro, is the one who can give it to him and then some... #ExcuseThePun #LittleBroKnowsBest

3. There is running and trying to ignore their lust/love and moving on, but the feelings are too great and they are bound to gravitate back to each other. #IllBeCatchingYou

4. THE SEX. This book was Filthy with a capital F. I won't spoil anything, but Serch goes to great (and tiny) <---- (You'll get it when you read the book) lengths to get to German. #ColdShowerNeeded

5. The CAMEOS! I won't spoil who BUT, there are 3 characters from Avril's previous books who pop up and two of them form a bond with the bros. #GreatMindsThinkAlike.... #winkwink

6. You still need a sixth reason? Really? Not sold yet? Ok....
The love, the romance, the sweetness despite their situation and the secrecy that has to surround them. #LoveMeSweet

7. The SEX! Oh, I already mentioned that? Ok. Well it deserved an encore 😂 #OneMoreTime

This was incredibly hot and dirty. Taboo sex, cover to cover, with a few twists trying to cover their story and finding some allies. Despite the non stop sex, it is also a romance and I really felt for Serch and the pain that devastated him when German left years ago. I felt really sad for Ben though. He was a good guy who loved German.

I read this last year and forgot to add it to my book list. I was just reading a back newsletter of the author’s talking about this book and remembered that I had read it.
This was a taboo brocest book, which are always 🔥 to read. This has big brother German coming back to town and Grandma’s house for her funeral. He had practically fled town because of what was going down with little brother, Serch. I don’t remember if they ‘did it’ then, but they sure do it in the present. Serch was previously quite the voyeur of German’s sex life with other men with some extremely hot voyeur scenes. Now, Serch is going to make some scenes of his own with German and he will be in charge.
The stars are for the sex, but there should have been real love mixed with it. German and Serch are not that likable of characters. There is too much roughness between them and very little affection. Read it for the brocest, but don’t expect the feels.

Damn this is hot!! 😏😏
And i liked it but unfortunately i didn’t love it.

After the inner turmoil the Staniel caused, this one felt lesser....

I truly enjoyed the taboo aspect of their relationship but couldn't really connected with German and Serch.
I kinda hated German actually.
Maybe it wasn't the right time for me to read it.

But one thing is sure: Avril Ashton knows how to make you curious about side characters because now i wanna read Dax & Deacon' story 🤩🤩

*sigh* I don't even know how to convey how much I loved this book. German and Serch's relationship is intriguing and raw with so much emotion it will leave you breathless and aching for more.

Ashton writes their journey in a way that makes you root for their HEA despite the nature of their relationship.

Their love is forbidden, with a few bumps in the road, but it is also beautiful to watch it unfold. If you're an avid Avril Ashton fan you know she makes it hurt in the most delicious way.

Looking at all the positive reviews makes me feel I've read a different book.

The taboo was ok, I don't mind that, but this book was so horribly written it was painful to read. First time reading this author so maybe her style just isn't my thing.

I couldn't find any character likeable, nor any character development. The plot was nearly non-existent. At around 50% of the book just reading German's name triggered me, I just couldn't stand him.

Gaahhhh, these two were so sweet and so filthy at the same time. I was rooting for them. I needed them to stay together because they had to, they fit, and they deserve each other. #SweetAndSpicy

Seventh.... The SEX! Oh, I already mentioned that? Ok. Well it deserved an encore 😂 #OneMoreTime

Now I only had 1 niggle which cause the absence of that complete coveted 5th star!

The Boyfriend, Ben, and what happened with said boyfriend.... I wish it had been handled a bit differently. I didn't want to feel bad for him, but I did.

All in All

1.25/5 stars! 1 star for accurate BIPOC representation. But LORD! Everything else about this book was dreadful. I have read many taboo books, so the sibling incest isn't what bothered me. The inability to write a single likable character was. I hated all of them. Big brother was a flake who literally stayed away til his grandmother DIED like it was nothing. Little brother was brusque and uncaring about anyone's feelings but his own. Lover of big bro was ott and annoying. Former lovers of little brother were a) crazy oot "do you know who my father is" and b) girl; figure it out already. HE DON'T WANT YOU! zero self-respect. Literally the only halfway decent character was one of the mafia bodyguard dudes. If I hadn't paid a good chunk of money to get a special edition box that featured this book, I would have DNF'd it. As is, I have to hope I can sell it to some unsuspecting person to get my money back, even though they too, will have to suffer through this book.

Couldn't finish

To be clear, I enjoy a good taboo romance every now and then, and this certainly had the makings of something I could enjoy. The psychological interactions between both men were fascinating, but (and I can't believe I'm saying this) I found the sex scenes to be way too frequent. Yes. I made it half way through the book and I lost count of how many times they had sex.

But suddenly, there's added drama for Serch at work starting in the middle of the story, and I felt blindsided by the shift in the plot. I think this has the makings of a decent erotic novella, but I found myself exhausted after each chapter while still feeling unfulfilled. I'm sure others might enjoy this book, but I finally had to stop trying to find a connection to the two plots. I think it might've worked better for me if the work drama started sooner to give Serch a greater depth of character, and if every time German was on the page didn't immediately become sexual.

*This book is a taboo book! Brothers being together. If that is a hard no for you. I wouldn’t read this book!!!*

We are who we are. This shit will make no sense to people who aren’t us, but it doesn’t matter.

German (30) and Serch (22) are brothers. Serch happened to see his brother doing stuff when he was 15 that changed how he saw his older brother. He started to have these fantasies about him. It kinda took over everything he did. He wanted his older brother. When Serch was 19 he finally crossed the line with German. That scared German so much because he had been thinking of his brother too. He didn’t want to hurt his family or his brother so he ran away with his boyfriend. Putting his all in that relationship. Trying to forget his brother and the things they did and the things he wanted from his brother.
The passing of their grandmother brought German back to his hometown and back into his brothers life.

I liked how one of the brothers German didn’t just jump in and go for it. He fought it. He knew it wasn’t right and tried to do the right thing. Even though he really wanted to be with Serch.
But Serch was on a mission and he knew what he wanted. Nothing was going to stop him.

Talk about an extremely taboo book! This was the first book where I’ve read these kind of kinks. It was definitely new to me. I’m still kinda uncertain about it. I don’t really see the appeal to it. But to each their own.

Feed you,” Serch continued. “Fuck and breed you. Use you and love you. All the time, German.

The sex scene seemed kinda long in this book. But they did a lot of crazy things so it went by fast. It definitely wasn’t boring! 😂

Even though German was the oldest. Serch acted like he was. He was a take charge kinda guy. And German loved that. German was into all kinds of different kinks. And Serch gave him what he needed.

This book was crazy. I didn’t know there was other book in this series. This book seems like it’s third in the series. So I bought the other 2 books. I didn’t feel lost while reading it. Which I liked! I can’t wait to jump into the other books!

First off, I will say this is not a book for everyone. It revolves around a taboo relationship between German and Serch, two bad boys in love with each other despite them being brothers. So if that’s not for you, stop reading and move on to the next book. However, if you are one who likes to walk on the wild side and doesn’t mind a little down and dirty, this is the book for you. These two men heat up the sheets and it’s displayed on nearly every page. After denying his feelings for a long time, German returns to his hometown, boyfriend in tow, to attend the funeral of his beloved grandmother. In returning home, German also must face the one person who he cannot forget but he believes he cannot truly love the way he wants to, his brother Serch. As he feared, the feelings for his brother return the moment he locks eyes with him and German realizes that the path they must face has to be together, no matter the cost. As the book progresses, we are treated to the developing relationship between the two as well as some of the obstacles they must face and overcome due to the unnatural relationship they have between them. We are treated to a reappearance of Dax and Deacon, characters from a previous book as well as their boss Renzo. All in all, it’s a good book with a decent storyline and a lot of sexy time. My only wish is that the author had spent more time developing the relationship between the two and less on the sexual nature of the book. This review contains my honest and unbiased thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book. All mistakes are my own.

*GASP* what did i just read!

Now i don't mind taboo element, mild BDSM and dark erotica when it's between two consenting adults but this book has major of my pet peeves so NOPE 🙅🏻

This is not an easy book to get into. It is very rare for me to not give rate for a book. I don't feel it's right to rate a book unless you've digested the entire thing. For real the entire book isn't BDSM lite, bro. If you lookin a deeper look into the kinky side then enjoy this book.

Well that was disappointing. If you are looking for wall to wall smut, very limited plot, and vacuous MCs, this book is for you. Frankly, I got so bored, I skimmed though big sections. Taboo aspect wasn’t a problem. I just found writing, characters, and plot not particularly interesting. Moving on.
