This book is all about the journey of one of God's lent children.Lloyd Michael Pike was born on the 31st of October 1991 at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, South Wales. He was a very special gift of life, for me his mum Elaine.I need to let everyone know about Lloyd, as he would want to help people as much as he could. And so this book is a chance to tell everyone about Lloyds journey of courage.I started noticing Lloyd's illness when he was seven years old in 1998.They diagnosed Lloyd with a very rare brain tumour known as a Pilocytic Astrocytoma, which the surgeons discovered after a biopsy on the 3rd August 2000 was malignant and irremovable.Through the book, you will read about Lloyd's journey of courage through operations, MRI scans, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. At the end of Lloyd's journey, he spent a lot of time with me, mum, at Ty Hafan Children's Hospice, which Lloyd loved very much. It's a very tranquil place, and it was here that Lloyd passed away with his close family in attendance.I will tell you further in the book about our experience with Lloyd's passing, also life after Lloyd's life and how we still feel we are together.Remember, you are not alone.
This is of its nature a dreadfully upsetting book as the author relates her son Lloyd's life with a terminal brain tumour.
I would be less than honest if I didn't say I found Elaine's obsessive clinging love very slightly disturbing but it undoubtedly comforted the poor little lad undergoing terrible treatments and ultimately dying.
His mother was outstandingly brave but I cannot but think had Lloyd survived, his mother's overwhelming love might have swamped him as he grew up. I can imagine no worse pain than losing a child at whatever age so I hope this book will comfort people in a similarly agonising position.
This Memoir by Lloyds Mum is a beautifully told Story about the Tragic loss of her Son. It is also extremely sad & heartbreaking to read. I feel frustrated on Poor Lloyds behalf that he suffered so much. Forever young Lloyd.
