this book was painful as hell. 😭 bc i've been on an AA binge over the past few days and all her books hurt with characters who have tragic backstories that make you feel, you'd think i'd be used to the pain but tbh, amnesia story lines have a different level of pain that even an angst lover like me can't handle; however, the blurb just really pulled me in that i couldn't help but give it a chance and i regret it... but also not really??
i felt for both mcs, Bishop and Eddie, but i was in awe with Bishop the whole time bc the amount of sacrifice he's done for the people he loved made me wanna give him a hug. 🥺 i swear, the way his group of friends—brotherhood—were always there for him had me sobbing. they were the true definition of ride or die.
overall, i definitely adored this. i adored the dynamic/romance between Bishop and Eddie. i adored Bishop's friend group. MY BB DIMA. despite the pain and hurt, it made their happy ending all the more satisfying. <3

This whole book could have been wrapped up without all the drama, and within like a few days, if they’d just done something like:
“Yo, I know you, you want to know how?”
“Yes, of course.”
“We were lovers, but obviously you forgot about me due to your accident, so… you want to reconnect and maybe, possibly try to also get your memory of me back that way?”
“Sure! I constantly felt like something was missing anyway! Now I know it was you!”
Instead we got… the opposite of that.
Bishop did everything in his power to make his own life as miserable as possible.
Eddie obviously recognized him every time they met, yet Bishop is over here whining that he got rejected by Eddie’s amnesia and that if their love had been great enough, he wouldn’t have forgotten?
Like, first of all, that reasoning is obviously utter bullshit, and secondly, HE LITERALLY RECOGNIZES YOU. You just walk away every single time he tries to talk to you and simply don’t give the guy the opportunity to remember you. Ugh.
And even if he didn’t recognize you, why not just let him get to know you again instead of stalking him and wallowing in sadness? Get a grip, dude.
(And yes, I am aware he obviously has mental health issues, so it’s not that easy in general to be happy, but in this particular case he is bringing the bad stuff all on himself)
Anyway, then, to my horror, this random scene happened where Bishop ended up having one of his many mental breaks, and this other dude started singing over the phone to “get him back from the brink”, and I was just like ?????? SINGING???? Really?
So this is where I threw in the towel, because I simply can’t be bothered.
I don’t care if the book gets better later on, because I find the whole thing annoying and I can’t muster up any form of investment for the story or characters. Maybe it’s me, but.. well.
Honestly, I can’t imagine the kind of headache this book would give me if I finished it. It’s so frustrating and so boring. Literally nothing seems to happen, and everything just drags along. There’s so much inner monologue, and so much melodrama, and actually… I think I already have that headache from just the first 18%.

He was as helpless now as he’d been then, but of course there were exceptions. Back then, he didn’t have to hide. Back then, heartbreak walked up to his front door, heartbreak fucked him in his bed.
Heartbreak knew his face, his touch, and his name.
Back then, heartbreak spoke his name the way Bishop had seen kids eat candy. With wide eyes and grabby hands. No blinking...
"Remember Me" is the second installment in the "Dread and Terrible" series with characters’ crossover but as I DNF the first one, still I didn’t feel lost so I think it’s safe to say you can read it as a standalone. Albeit if you read it in order, you would enjoy it better. Well, this has all the things I like in Avril Ashton’s books. The emotions, feelings, angst, MCs’ possessiveness, their protectiveness, blood… just one thing had been changed and that was the pacing. It was super slow for me and I didn’t expect it in her books. And I’m talking snail slow! The pacing got most of the enjoyment but I should add the last 35% was better. Told in dual POV, 3rd person. Overall, it was a good read but I expected something better because it had the potential. Hope you enjoy it as well!

What a bloody great read ... this was a start to finish for me. AA sure knows how to write dark & gritty material and she seriously is a favorite ❤️ This book was well paced, clever and intense. Loved every minute !!!

I see that I am a minority here and it is unfortunate but I feel the way I feel. I wish I could have loved this book like I loved CALL THE CORONER which was one of my all-time favorites. I think what caused me to lose interest was the melodrama and the excessive amount of internal monologue. Also, I might add that I didn’t like the thug slang. That’s just my opinion though and I didn’t really count off from my rating due to that since that’s who the characters were.
When I quit a book halfway through, just after the first sex scene (that I mostly skimmed bc I was losing interest so fast) it is because I am confident enough to figure out the ending and what will happen between the characters.

Bishop and Eddie. What can you say about these two flawed men. Bishop pulled on my heartstrings so much throughout this book. Then Eddie pulled on them when he got his shit together and understood what B was doing for him even though the circumstances were messed up. Bishop loved him wholeheartedly and unconditional. Even though he knew he could lose Eddie at a moment. I would love to give a more thorough review but what would be the fun in that.
This book deals with a lot of triggers. Mental health and physical abuse. So please take that into consideration. Highly recommended!!

Remember Me is an intense, emotional and psychological dark romance tale. And my introduction to , a new to me, author.
I always enjoy reading unconventional, well written and researched stories that pushes society boundaries and Remember Me falls into that category, perfectly.

Too much and still Not Enough
First thing you'll notice when you start this book was how intense Bishop was. He was intense in the "I've imprinted on you and now you belong to me" way. There was nothing normal or even moderately healthy about that level of fixation(which fortunately he knew) but since this was already a self-proclaimed dark novel and written by my fave Avril Ashton, I decided to give it a go.
Eddie was a "new to this world" character who should not be mistaken for a meek lamb being taken advantage of. Yes, he was blind sided by most of the things that happened to him but ultimately was a bada$$ in his own right.
This book will initially have you off kilter with Bishop's actions but I urge you to stay the course because what I discovered (through the brilliant writing I've come to love) was that beneath the initial layer of of obsession, was a story what one goes through when tragedy takes a loved one's memory of us away.
As such, this had the angst-o-meter on a 100 trillion and made my heart hurt for Bishop and Eddie. I can't even imagine what that must be like. To make matters worse, there was a whole other truck load of secrets, lies and deception going on that further complicated an already murky situation.
I loved the way both characters were written, especially with the way Bishop's mental health was laid out and approached. It was more realistic than I was honestly expecting and that actually contributed to my rating for this book.
Also, I'm glad we got to learn more about Prophet and although the next book is about Preacher, I'm more than eager for whenever we get Prophet's book. He more than deserves his HEA.

I remember reading the teaser a long time ago in Dirty Desires and the dramatic creepiness made me want it in my hands immediately.
It wasn’t as stabby stabby as I’m used to but it still hit the spot.
I’m sad I read it so fast but not too sad bc I can always go back to the beginning of The Sinners series and start this whole journey over (which I do frequently).

This book has around 300 pages and I would be elated if they cut away 100 pages and that would add more to the story, to be frank.
The dialogues were over the top, soap opera level (sorry but it's my opinion).
Really wanted to love this one.

NO ONE DOES DARK AND ANGSTY LIKE AVRIL ASHTON.
I love AA's stories so much and this was no different. You really feel the characters and their "I can't get you out of my SKIN!" desperation and connectedness. I never find myself wondering why the characters don't just move on from the unhealthy dynamics. I actively root for them to be together despite them. And make no mistake Bishop is MESSED up MESSED up. He has issues, but I love that he works on them. He fights to not let it control him and knows it's a lifelong journey. I really enjoy seeing that. Poor Eddie, he's messed up too but in a different way. He has memories stolen from him and is left with the questions and trauma from that. Their love story is heartbreaking and complicated and messy. I love it.

What can I say, I love my books deliciously dark with unhealthy levels of obsession. This was a seriously intense love story with a good dose of crazy.
The book centers around Bishop, a tortured soul with a boatload of secrets who has a deeply unhealthy obsession with Eddie. But Eddie doesn’t know Bishop, and he’s busy navigating through an underworld of crime searching for the man who shot him while trying to discern his friends and his enemies.
This book had layers and layers of secrets - they unfolded throughout the book like a dusky flower, and the intrigue ratcheted up with every page until the tension between the two MCs was electric.
My main knock is that so much of what happens in the is completely implausible - there’s no way crime lords would behave the way they do, but hey it’s a fantasy. ...And the sex is smokin’ hot.
This was my first book by Avril Ashton and I can’t wait to read more!

Ashton's writing and plot twists are as good as always, but this one was definitely way too long - so much that dragged could have been cut out, and the first half was infuriating as hell.

Eddie and Bishop
I’m a bit speechless, this happens not often, but now I’m somewhat out of words.
It was an overwhelming, intense, dark, full of hope, and hopelessness narrative. With stalking, obsessiveness and immensely longing and yearning, with mental illness, traumatized lives, violence, amnesia, and the most dedicated found family ever.
While Eddie didn’t remember Bishop, Bishop died every day a bit more without Eddie.
Without his ‘family’ Bishop wouldn’t survive.
But Eddie missed something in his life, when he runs into a dark-skinned stranger at night he knew this stranger meant something to him, something big.
What his mind can’t remember his body does.
One thing Bishop couldn’t say to Eddie was, no!
There are dark secrets, when they see the light it would destroy them. In some way it did.
I think this is as far as I can go with the content, else I would spoil and that would be a disaster.
Believe me, this story is scorching hot and devastatingly hurtful. Intriguing and complicated as f. Awesomely written full of heat and desire.
These two dark-skinned lovers are everything, they stole my heart from the very first moment! The big spotlight on them to reveal every part of them was immensely intense and captivating. So many secrets and so much love.
There is no rush in this story, except maybe when clothes have to get rid of.
Widely written, detailed everything was extendedly exposed. A story with moving gestures, mental illness, deep feelings of love, violence, forgiveness, self-acceptance, hurt, gosh the hurt my heart couldn't handle it, lost and found happiness.
The redeeming was amazingly done!
Overall a strongly and excellently written, ingenious, HEARTBREAKING story, and thank goodness it has a hea.

Remember Me is one of the best books by Avril Ashton that I have read and I have read a lot of them. The blurb doesn’t give away details and that is the best way to read this book. The beginning of the book is designed to keep you off balance as the pieces come together to form the complete picture and I was so invested in finding out what was going on.
The chemistry between Eddie and Bishop is all consuming and intoxicating and the need they have for each is a live wire. They are hot and dirty together in the best of ways and, if you like the feeling of being pulled completely into a story and being right alongside the characters, this is that book.

This was amazing...
This was really amazing and enjoyable, just like all the other books I've read. And, I'm looking forward to reading more books about Bishop, Eddie and their little family of men. I'm hoping that there is more to follow.

As usual, AA throws some giant obstacles in the couple’s way, brings the angst (and 🔥🥵) big time, then somehow manages to set everything right. Love Bishop & Eddie. Plus amnesia books are my jam. And I never get tired of the always cool, collected, and deadly Dima. Perfection.

I really wanted to like this book but I hate ti say that I unfortunately didn't. I think the character of Bishop was hyped up to seem so crazy and disturbed that when I finally delved into the book, I found out he wasn't all I expected. Bishop was the craziest when he wasn't with Eddie and only in secret. When they were actually together, he seemed pretty normal to me. I can respect a close friendship that transcends normal boundaries but Bishop appeared to value their relationship more. I feel as though the passion between all of the friends of Bishop was way stronger and they made this one as if-not more important when it shouldn't have been. Everytime they were at the house, I would roll my eyes that they were there. I also didn't like that Eddie was the "bad guy" because he was shot in the head and lost precious memories of bishop and Eddie's relationship. I also didn't understand how if Bishop was so obsessed with Eddie, why did he continuously push him away and disappear out of his life. When I heard how crazy Bishop's dad was, I wanted to see a little bit of that dangerous love towards Eddie but didn't. All in all, I feel as though the book was one of the more tame ones. I also kind of skimmed the sex scenes because they didn't do it for me.

I really wanted to like this book but I hate ti say that I unfortunately didn't. I think the character of Bishop was hyped up to seem so crazy and disturbed that when I finally delved into the book, I found out he wasn't all I expected. Bishop was the craziest when he wasn't with Eddie and only in secret. When they were actually together, he seemed pretty normal to me. This author definitely knows her way around INTENSE feelings... And I mean INTENSE!
This story was complex, twisted, sensual, sexy and so full of love.
Bishop & Eddie are definitely in my favorite couples in the numerous ones I already have with AA.
Bishop with his mental illness broke my heart. So lost and so in love with someone that doesn't remember him.
Eddie, also completely lost and with all these feelings for someone he thinks he doesn't know.
I honestly didn't think I would love this story as much but I forgot that Mrs. Ashton knows how to grip your interest and what can I say... I'm a sucker for twisted, cursed lovers...
Now I want Preacher, I want Priest (&Kyo..❤️), I want Prophet... I want all of their stories... Pretty please

4 stars. Enjoyed the re-read. Loved Eddie and Bishop. This one was a bit complex with Bishop's mental illness; that stalking was next level. But through it all, I understood him and rooted for him, and was happy he got the help he needed and was committed to self improvement in the end. The whole amnesia angle with Eddie was really well done, and their journey back to each other was great. I will say their love scenes when they first reconnected got so wordy and repetitive that they made me uncomfortable. Like they were almost too emotional. It got better as the book progressed. Loved this one, even if I find the sexual friendship with Bishop's friends weird.

holy avril did it again. this was hott and dark... terrifying and sexy.. it was all kinds of messed up mixed with awesomesauce.. it was dark and light.. i loved it all.. so much raw wrenching heartbreak.. i loved seeing this all come together.. it did lose me in a couple spots but then i caught back up. it was wonderful and i loved it

4.5 heartbreaking stars! Ms. Ashtyn definitely knows how to write her dark and gritty men and I love each one of them.
Bishop lost his love, his sanity and is broken. All because of a bullet. He needs to learn how to move on and heal himself but he just can’t seem to let go. At the expense of everything, he can’t let go of his love. But the lies just keep building, and love returns only for it all to come to a head.
Eddie cannot remember the last year of his life. He knows something is missing; something leaving a huge hole that he cannot explain. All he knows that he can’t get this stranger off his mind or get his body to stop reacting like it remembers him. But what happens when the truth comes to light and enemies and lovers are not who Eddie thought they were?
I am a huge fan of each one of Avril Ashtyn’s stories and Remember Me was no exception. Pretty much hit right in the feels for these two men. Her characters are hard; their love is gritty and all encompassing. Their loyalty is second to none.
I cannot wait for Preacher’s story 😀

This was definitely unexpected. And while I’ve read a few amnesia books this was by far the best. Utterly heartbreaking with a stalker aspect that I really loved. Overall this was extremely satisfying and I loved getting glimpses of other characters from previous books, like Toro. Would love his story.
Now I will say had this book had an editor I would keep a 5 star rating but I’m knocking off a half point for just really blatant lack of editing. I’ve never noticed it this bad with the author’s other works but this became increasingly frustrating. The missing and misspelled words at times made sentences read differently than intended and there were 4 instances where Eddie was spelled Edie. I mean really. *eye roll*.
Overall rating *4.5 stars*

3.5 I enjoyed the story but was thrown off by a few things. Editing was poor, and the family dynamic Bishop and his friends had. Seemed too strange for me. Otherwise a great read.

Needless to say I loved it. The newest addition of men Avril has created are raw, beautiful, fire hot, and fit in perfectly. I’m a huge fan of all Avril’s work but Eddie and Bishop cut me different. There were times Eddie seemed so innocent even though you knew he was a dangerous man. And Bishop, man Bishop broke me. I felt everything he was feeling his turmoil, pain, remorse and it all ran deep but I was so mad at him sometimes. If you’re a lover of Avril Aston like me, this book will be one of your favorites, if you’re new to her writing get ready to knock your socks off.
