Oleja Raseari escaped the canyon. She escaped Honn, the soldier sent to drag her back to captivity. She even escaped death in the desert, though she did not get out unscathed. With death in close pursuit, Oleja took refuge in the city of Ahwan.
Now she just has to save the rest of her people.
Bit by bit, she recovers her strength. Plans take shape in her mind; the time to act on them draws near.
But Ahwan is not the safe haven Oleja envisioned. Infighting is commonplace. Unrest lies heavy on the people's minds. Whispers pass through the streets—tales of old heroes and fated trials. Plenty of the city’s culture confounds her, but if Oleja understands one thing, it’s the hero’s path before her.
Proving herself to the people of Ahwan, however, is another matter altogether.
this is an amazing book! great addition to skyborn and perfect for young adults who love fantasy and adventure. the characters (especially oleja) are well developed and go through so much internal turmoil. it makes for a great read :)
Seablood is a fantastic continuation of the BotH trilogy. Oleja Raseari has come a long way from her beginnings as a slave trapped at the bottom of a canyon, but she has quite a ways to go yet to finish her quest. In Seablood, her fight to prove herself a true hero continues as she faces new dangers and mysteries.
Something I really admire about Cameron Bolling's writing is the diversity of his characters. Many new faces are introduced to Oleja's story in Seablood, including characters representative of many identities which are often invisible or misrepresented in young adult fiction. I love the way Bolling brings so many unique characters to life in such an organic and genuine way.
Along with the diverse representation, Seablood matches Skyborn in intensity, suspense, and emotion. I was sucked in from page one, and I am already anxious for book three to arrive! I cannot imagine what awaits Oleja next, and I cannot wait to find out. I highly recommend this series to fans of fantasy and dystopian tales.
