“I literally wore the description ‘BOY’ – a young immature human male, way into my thirties, long after ‘man’ – biologically, donned itself on me unannounced. Despite sporting man’s clothing and exuding manly charms, I strove acquiring dumbs – follies heaped on follies, in man-reality. Soon enough, I was wandering aghast in life. Nevertheless, I had to live so, had to learn how. Thankfully, this ‘BOY’ learnt, and has made tangible progress in a few more spheres of man but, learning is endless. ‘BOY’ poetically expresses my direct and indirect reflections on some of my dumbs and learnings, from a faith perspective.”- Leo Ezeogu
Boy is a wonderful collection of works in which the author showcases not only his unique deployment of the English language, but honestly and openly recounts his life and faith.
Reminiscent in places of both Psalms and Proverbs, the author shares a wisdom which only comes through taking time to observe and reflect upon human experiences.
There are many hidden gems which will only be unearthed through multiple readings. Certain stanzas seem to hit with particular resonance. One such stanza for me was “Love makes me, forgive and not relive, the acrimonies, wielded by youthful blunder”.
I would certainly recommend this book to anyone seeking to learn more about themselves through reflecting on their own experiences in the light of another’s.
