Definitely have new ideas of what to do in a zombie apocalypse!
I'm still loving this series and getting more and more attached to the characters, though I wish Blinky's stomach was as tough as her attitude! Blah! I was so relieved when Nick and Lillie were reunited and when Howie finally got his coffee and I was amazed at what happened with the fort! Can't wait to see what happens when 'he' finally arrives ( thinking I know who HE really is and wondering WHAT he is exactly). Thanks again for another awesome journey. I couldn't leave a rating at the end of Day 18 as I had a technical error right at the end of my writing it!
Okay, this is my new favourite instalment of this series! The first half of the book concentrates on events going on at the Fort, then moves onto following 'Howie and the Living Army'.
Lots of relationship growth, laughs, fights and everything else we've come to expect from this series.
'Commissioned for the war effort' made me chuckle.
Taking a small break from the series to read my ever-pile of library books, but I will no doubt return to it soon. Truly don't know what I am going to do with myself once I get to the end of it.
Can I just crawl into these books and hang out with these characters??? (Without the death, zombies and blood of course.) I am in awe/love with each and every character. The trials they go through are just amazingly well written. I've laughed and cried once more...off I go to the next one!
Also, can we have a youtube tutorial on how to properly do Cookey's new sock dance?
Loving this series but have to say day nineteen is one of the best! Thoroughly enjoy all the characters and their personalities, full of action, excitement and humour and don't forget Zombies
I love the detailed account of one day in each book. Really gives you the feel of what it might be like if we did have a zombie apocalypse. Well, the team has super hero skills but if you're going to imagine a virus turning most humans into zombies you really need super heroes. The camaraderie of the team and the character development really stands out. Black humor that gets them through the tough times and lets them blow off a little steam. The dog Meredith and her ability communicate the importance of the pack mentality that gives the team their own hive mind is very intriguing. Got a little confused about the events at the Fort that (spoiler alert) ended in Lani's death and when Lilly killed 19 people to get the fort back under control was not detailed enough. But these are just nit picky things. Over all this book is definitely a five star!
The Undead Day Nineteen The Undead #19 Sci-Fi R.R. Haywood ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I was a little confused at the beginning of this book because I wasn't sure who's POV it was, where they were or what the timeline was. It did soon become clear though and everything at the Fort was in chaos. Children were trying to use guns to take control and be in charge, people were dead, too many needed medical attention and Sierra, the new "number 1", refused to give anyone food and water.
I did find the plot a bit boring at times. The majority of the book involved more travelling, planning and trying to understand what The Infection will do next and it became repetitive.
I was very surprised by Lilly. She has always been mature for her age but she really took charge and did what no one else could. She did the right thing for the right reasons and got the Fort back under control.
Im gad we got to follow Lilly’s story at the start of this book even if it wasn’t pleasant to read. I feel that the changes which happen to the fort were needed to create a sense of stability within this disjointed world.
In Day 18, it was a bit overwhelming to keep up with the magnitude of new characters and subplots, however by the end of Day 19, the dynamics seem to have settled.
The development in the infection is really effective to keeping the plot fresh and interesting. I’m sure the boy will fit into this somehow, I just hope he is less irritating than before…
Finally! They're back at the Fort and getting the appreciation they deserve. I've been waiting for this part because through everything everyone acted like it was the Team's job to keep them safe but now the people living n the Fort are working to make it a safe place. Lilly was left behind and alone but made sure Mr. Howie and the others were welcomed back. I'm hoping her and Nick get together. Day Nineteen was a good day.
Another great book to read in the series by RR Haywood. Each book brings action and characters that pull you right into the story. I like how RR Haywood has all of the characters strong individuals who are just as bad a$$ed as the leader Howie and add up to be a great undead killing team. Great series!
After day 18 I was missing a few storylines, unfinished business still out there! 19 delivered one of them with style. Conscious of there only being a few more books left in this series, will have to space them out as they are so good!
I must be honest I do quite like apocalyptic books and have read rather a lot and got bored they were all the same..... But RR HAYWOOD THE UNDEAD is of a different class. Absolutely Brilliant.
We find out about Lilly & another mystery person.. but I’m so curious about the infection.. I wanna read NB’s journal! Also Mr Howie.. is turning supernatural and what’s up with the “cook”?! Dissolved? Funny Love Cookey!
I never want this series to end! I have fallen in love with the characters to the extent that they have become real people. This truly is an amazing story written by a very gifted author. Thank you Haywood!
These books are just it for me Haywood is the Boss!!! Scary, laugh out loud funny, thrilling and with characters that are so well written and unforgettable, you’ll laugh and cry and wish you were part of the living army! My second time round reading these 💗💗
I’m continuingly amazed by this series. What should be cliches and quirks, repeatedly entertains and creates pure emotion. The final fifth of this book is outstanding.
This episode of The Undead series marks something of a new beginning. Not only does the first section of the book focus on a single character, but the nature of the threat our heroic lads and lasses face is changing rapidly.
I read the first fortnight of this series in one glorious binge, often staying up all night to finish a book. This time I savoured the excitement. Although the feel of the book is somewhat different, the structure and complexity of the story has ramped up. It's not simply a series of bigger and bloodier battles, but there is the sense of setting up a greater drama to play out over the coming days and weeks.
If you've already read the previous books in the series then you won't need me to tell you to read this one. If you're coming at it fresh then go back and start from Day 1. You won't regret it!
Richards books are great, he has a different way at looking at a Zombie Apocalypse, he has found away to make you laugh and cry, a great read.
With a legion of loyal fans, he always manages to keep it fresh with new characters and storyline. Has something for everyone, definitely the best Zombie series out there.
