This book is about digital activism (or more commonly known as hashtag activism). Digital activism typically refers to any form of action towards cause-related movements that has some sort of online or Internet participation. Nowadays several of these moments begin or expand with networks, such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SMS text messaging, etc. Many of these movements focus on some sort of social or political change. In Fall 2019, 53 students (Cohort 14) were enrolled in the Foundations of Digital Media course at the Centre for Digital Media. The students were given their To respond to the digital activism movements by creating a piece that reflects a lived experience. This eBook was created as a record of our educational process for the future generation of students or anyone interested in hearing their stories. These essays will hopefully shed light onto multiple experiences.
