I feel for the main character, but I simply couldn't connect with him. I tried to, but ultimately, the book wasn't for me. I hope it finds its audience elsewhere.

This is a strong and well written novel that introduces the protagonist Johnny Gunn who was born and bred in Sunnyside, Queens. Despite his foibles and weaknesses, one cannot help but feel for Gunn after all the losses he's had to endure. Set in the wake of 9/11 NY, Long Night's End will evoke many memories of that terrible and tragic day, but also elucidate the strength and resilience of New Yorkers in its aftermath. It really permeates the post-9/11 NYC and captivates the reader. The author eloquently depicts Gunn's battles with his internal and external demons many of which are based based on the circumstances of his life and upbringing in Sunnyside, and yet in the end it leaves the reader hopeful for Gunn's future. An excellent first book for the author!

A tour de force that rips through the back alleys, bars, and subways of New York City taking with it the heart and soul of a neighborhood desperately trying to define its very existence. A must-read for those looking for high octane drama!

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway.This is a book about a man who plays in a rock band and is fighting his demons. The fact that he is a alcoholic and that his family is falling apart right before his eyes, and also the fact he has gotten his wife and another woman who he has had a fling with on and off both pregnant at the same time. A heartbreaking story that pulls at the heart, but also a story full of hope in the end. A great read!
