Rate this book
What was supposed to be one of the happiest days of Nasir Carter’s life turns into a nightmare when a devastating secret rocks his world. Armed with information from an unlikely ally, he walks away from the woman who owned his heart since he was fifteen-years-old, Venus Aphrodite Day.

Venus was unprepared to handle the love Nasir offered her at such a young age and made a series of bad decisions that left her jilted and buried under the weight of her lies. Years later, a chance reunion reveals an even bigger secret, and the pair find themselves at a crossroads between the thin line of love and hate.

With so much stacked against them, including outside forces determined to keep them apart, will Nasir close the book on their love story for good? Or will Venus be able to prove that she can give him the love he deserves and remain the Goddess of His Heart?

Let me start out by saying that Granny and Papa Stone are the real MVPs in this story! They were not the one nor the ✌🏽. If you step to them you better be ready to get your $h!t rocked 🤣😩😭…. Now let’s get into Nas and Venus because they took me through it and I was ready to throw my phone several times!! Venus SIS!!!! You tried it!!!!! SMH! This was a real true to life story about love simply not being enough to hold onto a relationship. They really had to start from the bare bones and rebuild a solid foundation because it was shaky the first time around. I loved this store more than I expected but I mean let’s be real it’s Kema lol so I didn’t expect anything less when she simply does not miss when it comes to telling a story that draws you in from page one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

My favorite trope is easily enemies-to-lovers, but this book just jumped second chance romance up higher on my list. Listen I was frustrated, I cried, frustrated again, cried again, laughed, fanned myself. Basically I see I’m gonna have to take up smoking when I read books by Kema.

🙄

They both aggravated my soul 😅 with their non communicating selves HOWEVER I'll let Nas slide but that dang Venus ... Nah. Both her and her sister can hand their men over to me for safe keeping 😂. All that said, great read overall as always from Kema B!

Back to real love

This was my first book reading about the Carter family, but it was definitely just as much about the Day family.

Nasir Carter was a man that knew what he wanted. He loved Venus and he knew his future was with her. He was determined to make her understand that his love for her was enough. When things unexpectedly fell apart his feelings were so hurt, all he could do was shutdown and run.
Venus knew that she loved Nasir, but she was young and still figuring out who she was as a woman. She had a lot of insecurities growing up around women that were so strong and sure of themselves that it often made her feel out of place. Venus struggled to share this with Nasir, because he was all or nothing and she didn't want to lose him. Unfortunately everything she withheld did end up being their demise.
5 years later they are brought back together by fate. Nasir is still mad as ever because she broke his heart. Venus realizes that she still loves him and whew child the up, down, around, stress ensued. The lack of communication was real and the author did a good job showing the work that must be put in to rebuild a relationship.
Loved the sub characters too. Grandma, Zay, Valley with her ghetto self, The Carter Family, The Day family added so much to the story. For me it's always nice to read about strong black families navigating tough situations together.

I’m not going to give this a rating bc I just couldn’t push myself to finish as I did with Jalen and Valentines story. I despised Venus. She did so much selfish things that brought hurt and loss to Nasir. I have no reason to root for them as a couple or her period. I just had to put myself out of my misery bc she went from bad to worse with lame ass excuses

Good story 🔥🔥🔥

I'm at 41% of the book and I decided I'm not gonna finish it. Not because it isn't good because that would be a lie, but as someone who grew up without their mother around or around like she should have been this story is hard for me to get through. I love that someone exposed the ain't sh@t mothers out here in the world, and highlighted the wonderful fathers that stepped up. Reading this had me so angry and it was hard to come down, I kept having to stop reading and come back. I don't like the hiding of kids and this seems to be a trend going on with urban fiction lately. It's truly unforgivable to me, and it's always trying to be cleaned up because the mother told the kid about their father, so when they meet it's like they always knew one another. Black men has a reputation for being deadbeats when it comes to the children they make, so it burns me up when a father wants to be in their child/children's lives and has it snatched away. This man missed 4 years of his daughter's life, that's first words, first steps, potty training, 1st bday, etc. I couldn't for the life of me understand why everyone wanted him to listen to what she had to say and possibly work on their marriage. It bothered me so much, maybe listen to her to have a cordial co-parenting relationship, but honestly NOTHING she said could have been enough for me to trust her ever again. Like stated in other reviews if she was the villain not a thing she said or the reasons she did it would have stopped them from d@mn near killing her. I was really hoping he found someone else and let her suffer without him.

After all of this being said, this was a well written story and my first read by this author. Though I cannot finish it I will definitely read other stories by her. Sorry for my bias reaction and getting so personal on the subject. I guess thats what makes great authors when the emotions are real.

Kema does it again

Wow! This was such a great love story. Kema is new to the scene as this is her second release and I am already a fan. This story involves the importance of communication and honesty as well as forgiveness. We were introduced to Venus and Nasir in Valentines Kiss and wow...I learned that there are three sides to the story, his, hers, and the truth. We also learn that there will always be outsiders ready to ruin relationships but if trust and open communication are there, nothing will stop it. I felt every emotion on both ends not knowing how it will pan out. Let's not forget about those hot and heavy sex scenes. Nasir can get it!! LOL! Seriously, Kema has the gift of writing. Spoiler alert: I hollered at Kema's attempt to include the pandemic in the story...Six Feet...LOL. All in all, great read...is Zay's story next? Looking forward to reading more of your works Kema!

NAS AND HIS PEACH

Whew, Nasir and Venus story was one for the books. The amount of drama, secrets and lies told was enough to have you wanting to shake some sense into Venus. What I loved about the Day, Kiss and Carter families is that they didn't give into Venus and her sob story. They gave her the tough love that she deserved. Communication was definitely lacking between Venus and Nasir but I was happy that they were able to get past the fighting, seek counseling to better themselves and become a stable co-parenting unit for Zai. Aaeliana and Bebe (Bree) were two bitter broads. Bree got exactly what she deserved. Although the stories are different, I do like how the author keeps the connection between the characters. They have definitely started to grow on me and I'm waiting to see who will have a story next.

Loved Nasir and Peach

This is the second book I read by this author. In order to kinda get their beginning you need to read her first book Valentines Kiss which is actually Valley and Jalens story. I liked that one but this one so far is my favorite of the two. There was so much immaturity between these two in the beginning but the growth over time and the love they had for each other regardless of their actions never wavered. The one thing that kept me curious throughout both books was if she had other books out there before these two because there seems to be back stories of their parents and even other characters mentioned but I couldn’t find anything. In any case I really hope she continues to write stories that includes the Day, Carter, and Kiss families I’m so sure they all have stories to tell that are just as enjoyable to read as these last two books.

Whew!

Alright Kema B. you got me with these two crazy a$$ people. Between Nasir and Venus, I don’t know who I want to slap first. Oh no, yes I do, I want to slap Venus first. Wow, I will give it to you, Kema, because I did not see me rooting for Venus by the end of the book but there I was, waiting by the edge of my seat for them to work it out. Of course, I love the updates of my favorite characters, Granny, Jalen, Zay and Valley. This was a good book that had me as reader experiencing a myriad of emotions. There were plenty of laughs throughout the book. Good job, well done. I’m on a marathon of reading Ms. Kema’s books. I have not been disappointed yet.

The Peach Factor🍑 🍑

It's mad crazy how we can love someone so deep that even when heartbreak happens that we will still love them with every breath that we take. That was what happened between Nasir and Venus when they had people conspiring to break them up and keep them apart. Bebe was a real snake and I was laughing when she got rocked not only by Venus but Valley too. Stone Carter was the man and I like that he shut Aeliana Ramirez-Carter down for her treachery. I'm glad that Nasir, Venus, and Zaire got their HEA.

Wow what a second chance love story

Venus and Nasir gave new meaning to second chance love. These two had a love story of all time. Falling in love ad teenagers before either had fully grown jnto their grown adult selves these two faced several hurdles to br together. Both dealing with their own insecurities and past hurts led them on a long path of destruction. Even though it was filled with sadness this was an amazing true to life love story. I LOVED IT. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤❤Kema has a new die hard reading fan. I will be reading the remaing books on her catalog.

Love

Such a Great story between childhood friends. They had to grow up to get past the gray in their lives. Nasir was upset and rightfully so at Venus crazy ass for years. She kept some thing from him he couldn't get over but thankful for therapy and a forgiving family it all worked out I the end.

Roller Coaster ride!

This book took me on more twists and turns than Six Flags. I hollered, wanted to slap a few folks and I may have had some sweat in my eyes a few times.

This books showed you that the heart wants and desires what it wants. That through communication even the most trauma, pain can be replaced by love that truly surpasses understanding.

Soooo Good

All I am going to say is Venus and Nasir were both wrong. They should have talked to each other first. They both went through so much without each other. So happy they finally got it together. Very emotional and good book. Hopefully we can get shook on those King brothers and the rest of the family.

These two were a hot mess but you can’t help but to love them!! The updates from past and upcoming characters is wonderful. The live between the two is evident even if they don’t know it. The characters were beautifully written and completely developed. Even through all the drama you so has hope. Definitely a must read!!!

Whew Nasir!

I loooved everything about this story. Nasir and his shortcomings were so real and not the stereotypes that leave you conflicted about a male lead. Honestly, Venus tried my nerves from time to time but not enough for me not to root for her to get it right. Beautifully real love story.

Good read

I enjoyed this read immensely. I didn’t know who was right between Nasir and Venus for the majority of the book and my heart went out for both. It drives the point home that love isn’t enough but sometimes endings are new beginnings!

Matured love

I love books that showcase a love that matures through time. Even though this couple had some major hiccups, they eventually realized that they had to work on their love. I loved these characters, their petty and their crew!! I want more!!!

Nasir and Venus equally worked my nerves. I literally put the book down to get myself in order. High school sweethearts with the world at their feet, are separated by poor communication skills, insecurities and traumatic childhood memories.
Years after their wedding fiasco, Nasir and Venus one again cross paths and man did Kema B make this road bumpy.
What I absolutely love about her writing (other than the extremely hot sex) is her ability to build, break and redeem her characters. By the end of the book, I was rooting for Sir and Peach to get they ish together.

This Novel was a Hurricane with a lot real lessons in it. I was definitely Team Therapy at the end. Sometimes in a story as in real life no one can win when the Family feuds. Ultimately with a lot of compromises Love will always win.

Great second chance story!

LOVED this story. Wasn’t sure how they were going to make their way back to each other through all of the hurt and bitterness but the catalyst was well done and realistic - sometimes it’s seeing your love moving on that lights the fire that burns away that resentment leaving the most important things clearer. I also thought Sir’s “revenge” reset the table the way it needed to be for them to get on somewhat “equal” footing. Well written, great comedy, serious issues re: mental health and family. Great job Kema B!

Great Read!

I love how this book teaches about what happens when there is no real communication and timing is everything. There’s no telling what can be avoided is people listened to understand instead of listening to react. I loved seeing Valley and Jay. On to the next book!!
