Music Man is the first book in the ‘Romance in Rehoboth series by K.L Montgomery. It is a really fun and very enjoyable romantic comedy. Romance in Rehoboth is a series of standalone stories where each book centres on its own particular character/couple. The stories differ in their storyline, feel, and tone- but they all are set against the backdrop of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. I have read all the books in the series so far, and highly recommend them as they are wonderful stories and well worth the read!
We meet Jack and Claire and follow along as their story unfolds.
Jack dreamed of making it big in the music industry. But things didn’t go quite according to plan and he ended up teaching music instead. Then he meets Claire, who arrives for lessons. There is an attraction and instant connection between them that draws them together. Things are going really well. But when Claire encourages Jack to enter a contest, things take a different turn as Jack gets another chance to follow his dreams. What will the future hold for these two? Will their love survive?
As I have said many times before, I think Ms. Montgomery is a gifted storyteller, easily pulling her readers into her story and keeping us connected and hooked from beginning to end. I love how her story depicts characters that are realistic, believable and completely relatable.
As with all her other books, this is really well written, entirely captivating, and was a really fun read. I can’t wait to see what she does next!

Thank you, Ms. Montgomery!

Hard no for me. It says that it is the first book in the series but they are already dating on the first page?? I had to go find out that there is a 0.5 book that is apparently first. Maybe I would like it more if I started with that one to get to know the two. I just didn’t care less about any of them and I think both the main characters are terrible parents to the kids and I found myself rooting for the “devil spawn ex” and that is when I knew I had to put it down because it just made me mad.

Music Man (Romance in Rehoboth #1)
By K.L. Montgomery
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the story Music Man (Romance in Rehoboth #1) by K.L. Montgomery. It is a book that pulled me in from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished the last page. I loved reading about the characters of Jack and Claire. Jack’s first love has always been music. Life got in the way of him making a big splash in the music world and he finds himself teaching music. What will Jack do if he is given a second shot at his first love? Claire is sassy, strong, and independent. She has fallen for Jack. She finds Jack irresistible. What does the future hold for Jack and Claire? Will Jack’s dream finally happen? Read this book to find out. This story has lighthearted moments that made me laugh and other moments when situations would happen that made me wonder how everything was going to work out. I found myself rooting for Jack and Claire and wanted them to be happy. Other characters interact with Jack and Claire and are enjoyable to read about. This is a book that has moments that touch and warm your heart. It is a story that you don’t want to miss out on. I highly recommend it.

2.5 stars for my June Read Across America selection. I was drawn to this book as the main character’s name is Claire and she dates a guitar player that ends up going on tour. 😜 It was a quick, sweet read but too predictable for me. Conveniently available on Kindle Unlimited.

Music Man is the first book in the Romance in Rehoboth series by K.L. Montgomery. This is a series of stand-alone romance novels set in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Montgomery is an author I have read before, in fact I have read one of the other books in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed the other books I have read by her and had high hopes for this one. I was not disappointed.
This book is slightly different from many romance novels in that that our hero and heroine, Jack and Claire are already a couple. This book explores some of the difficulties that couples can face when one tries to follow their dream.
Jack is a music teacher and enters a music competition (urged by Claire to do so) and is stunned when he wins. This leads to further competitions and then to him going on tour with some of the other contestants. This is what he’s always wanted to do. It’s his dream…or is it?
Jack soon discovers that being away from his beloved girlfriend Claire and his adorable daughter is much harder then he though. Added to that, those running the tour are trying to make it look as if he’s having a relationship with one of the other artists. This puts a massive strain on his relationship.
I really enjoyed reading this story. It flows really well and the characters are great. It has the addition of some really great secondary characters that add so much to the story. I enjoyed reading as Jack participated in the competitions, his excitement and nerves.
All in all, this is a really sweet romance story with great characters that provides a very enjoyable read.

Music Man is the opening chapter of K.L. Montgomery’s Romance in Rehoboth series! I have read her other books so I expected something exceptional and so it was! Sometimes when you reach a certain age (above 40), you feel that you are not so represented in the literary world of romance so I was especially delighted to see that the main couple is above 40!
Music Man is the story of chasing your dreams and not giving up. It gives us Jack and Claire. Jack’s first love has always been music and finally now once he has settled into teaching music, he is given a chance to make it … While teaching he has met Claire who he has fallen over teakettle into love with. I loved Claire, independent and sassy and listening to her internal discussion, yes, she is totally someone one would love to have as a friend!
The writer takes us on a journey with Jack and Claire, a journey where we feel with them and for them and laugh with them and banter with them and we keep our fingers crossed (for different reasons) and when we get to the end we go, how did we already get here?! She throws such a cast of characters on us so that once you close the book on Jack and Claire, you go on and grab the next one in the series and so on (pretty educated guess, I think….) Welcome to Rehoboth, Delaware and please don’t pack your bags and move there immediately!

Music Man (Romance in Rehoboth #1) by K.L. Montgomery

5 +++ Stars

We met Claire in Fat Girl, I loved that book and now we move forward with the rest of her story and I loved loved loved it!!!

I have already read most of this series and loved when this one popped up as the first, I was afraid it would be hard to go back to the beginning but that worry was for nothing. I think what I love about this series the most is the friendships and the family feeling that is weaved through many of the books. The characters flutter in and out of all the books but they all can be read as standalones. This is a good thing because I have read them out of order. Claire is a person I completely identify with and feel like alot of her thoughts and words were stolen out of my own mind.

I cried more than once during this story, I laughed out loud even more while reading, and I wanted to transport myself into my kindle and totally slap people upside the head. It will touch just about every feeling with a name and then some that Ive never felt before.

Pick this up and then grab the rest, you will love them all! This author is absolutely an auto one click for me and sits in my top 3 of all time.

Loved this and now want to go read all the rest all over again :)

Music Man is the first book in K.L. Montgomery’s Romance in Rehoboth series. The books work as standalones (I’ve definitely been reading them in the wrong order…) but they share a setting and characters pop up in each other’s books which is a fun way to get to know them and give their stories more depth.
Music Man focuses on the relationship between Jack, a music teacher and performer, and Claire, an author. Both have been married before, and have children from their previous relationships. They’re ready for a new, serious relationship, but Jack also has his performance career which is just starting to take off to worry about.
This is an enjoyable read. It’s nice to have a romance with more mature characters, who have all the messiness of their previous marriages to deal with and who already have children in their lives. As a music teacher myself, I particularly enjoyed having a character who is a musician. Jack’s experiences felt very familiar and relatable.
For me, this is a five-star book. It’s romantic and heart-warming, and made me laugh! I’d recommend this series to fans of romance novels who like characters with depth and stories that explore friendships and familial relationships as well as romantic ones.

An Excellent Read!

What I especially loved about this story was the head voice of the main female character. Her internal chatter and dialogue with herself was hilarious. The re-imaging the main male character had to go through was shameful. Then, matters just got worse with the Public Relations, Show Host, show management, all bullying the main male character to do things for ratings and to keep the public interest alive and fed. Reading about this falseness in what information the public is fed, not just in this scenario, but in any media presentation of a current issue. I found these snippets of information highly enlightening. No wonder musicians and stars in Hollywood do themselves in; after a while I am sure they do not know what is real and what is not and they just lose themselves. Thank goodness in this story the characters were strong enough to stand up for themselves. Overall though, the writing of Ms. Montgomery carried this story and held this reader's interest to the end.

I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel via BookSprout and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.

Music Man
A Single Dad Rock Star
Romantic Comedy
(Romance in Rehoboth
Book 1)
By K.L. Montgomery
☆☆☆☆☆
What can I say about this book? It's a full length Romantic Comedy with a twist of Rock Star. This book can be a standalone. Although I don't think it will be for many people.

Jack loves his music. Sense he can follow his dream at the moment, he settles for the next best thing. Teaching Music! But let's not forget that little cutie Mariana, Jack's daughter. The two have a special bond, one of love and for Jack's dedication.

Claire has the gumption to get it done. She is also strong in her conviction. If she decides on something, she follows through. Learning to play the piano. Is really where she wants to be. Feelings are shared and this story is off and running.

K.L. Montgomery is a fabulous writer! The Jack and Claire story is just one example. Her characters are just everyday people, making the best out of life. The women are strong and not whiny, the men are real people. I love this story and can't wait to read the series. I have read many of K.L. Montgomery ' s books and find this series is becoming my "Can't wait for the next one" series to go after.

Music Man by K.L. Montgomery is book number 1 in the Romance in Rehoboth series. This is the second or third book that I have read from this author and I have yet to be disappointed. This is a charming romance novel about 2 single parents trying to make things work between them while following their dreams. The point of view in this story goes between the 2 main characters: Claire Sterling and Jack Riley. Claire is a single mom to a teenage book, an author, and just an all over amazing woman. Jack is a single father to a young girl, band teacher, and a wannabe rock star. I love the personalities of each of the characters, especially Claire. She is spunky and fun and just someone that I’d like to be my best friend. I enjoyed reading this book, its perfect for a weekend read. My only complaint, is I wish that there was more build up and introductions to the characters in the beginning of the book. However, I was able to gather what I needed throughout the book. I think that Montgomery is a talented author who paints beautiful and captivating stories. I will be reading more from this series.

I first developed a crush on Claire in Fat Girl. As a blogger, she talked a lot about her very relateable struggles in many aspects of life. She said a lot of things that hit home with me, so I was very excited that we got more of her life with Jack in Music Man.

Jack has gotten an opportunity to do what he loves, performing. But it comes at a very poor time in his life. It's a good thing he has such a strong woman in his corner cheering him on. But as life is known to do, these opportunities come with severe repercussions. He must find the right balance of singing, traveling, parenting, and maintaining his relationship with Claire.

Normally when I review, I do a summary of how I see the book. I've kept that vague because there is a lot is going on, and I think I would spoil it. While Claire has made great strides, she still struggles with some insecurities. It makes Claire even more relatable than she already was. I love the characters and the bonding the female characters experience even when they're worried they won't click. Nicely done.

Music Man was a great 5 star read and book one in the Romance in Rehoboth series.
K.L. Montgomery has once again pulled me in with her writing and I didn’t put it down until I was done.

This is Claire and Jack’s story and I loved it.
Jack has always had the dream to make it big in the music industry. Life had other ideas for him and he ended up a music teacher. When he meets Claire there is an instant connection, they are great together. After Claire encourages Jack to enter a contest, things take a great turn for him and he gets another chance at his dream.

Can Jack have it all, family, music career and Claire?

Overall I really enjoyed this story. Claire loves Jack and will support him in anything he wants to do. Jack also loves Claire and is great with his daughter. There is so much going on in this read I don't want to give anything away. The secondary characters were great. I also had some LOL moments as well. I can’t wait to read more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

I really enjoyed Music Man, the first book in the Romance in Rehoboth series! One of the more unique things I enjoyed was the timing of the beginning of the story. Instead of it starting before the two characters meet each other, you enter when they are still fairly new, but been together for about six months. I was a little skeptical at first, but it really allowed the author to take the story a step farther.

Jack Reilly is a high school band teacher. He has a young daughter he doesn't get too see much and is currently exploring large with your heroine, Claire Sterling. When she dates him to entera small singing competion aft the restaurant they were dining at, who knew their lives would change forever.

Claire is a writer, working on a self help book and had a column in The New York Times. She had a teenage son and some crazy neighbors.

I quickly adored the chatacters in this story. Some were quirky, some you didn't like at first, and some you didn't like at all. The wonderful writing helped with that! Great job with this story! It had all the feels and I couldn't put it down!

I give Music Man (Romance in Rehoboth Book 1) by K.L. Montgomery, 5 stars.

This is another amazing book in an incredible series. First off, this series is in my neck of the woods. That is what interested me in the series in the first place. How many people write about Delaware in fiction?! What kept me is the incredible writing of an obviously talented author. This book is another amazing example of it. These characters are so real, the have real faults, real issues, and real feelings. Not one of these characters are flat. There are parts that will make you cry, parts that will make you laugh and parts where you really want to smack the characters upside the head. But that's ok, they're allowed. The story of him wanting to be a "rock star" is an interesting twist for this series. I am blown away at how may different storylines and types of people the author can come up with. They do not feel like the same thing again and again. I congratulate her on this and hope to read many more in this series. Needless to say, I could not put the book down.

Oh and for the record, driving while being stuck behind a chicken truck -- pure Slower Lower. Talk about realism!

If you are a fan of sweet romances where the people are real and they struggle just like normal couples, this book and series are for you.

Music Man (Romance in Rehoboth #1) by K.L. Montgomery
4 Stars

This series is all about sweet romance. I was silly and read the other books before this. It was nice to be able to go back and see the beginning of Claire and Jack. Jack is a music teacher who had always dreamed of being a rock star. Claire pushes him to join a singing contest which he wins and ends up heading to the Nationals. Some chaotic craziness happens which puts their relationship in danger.

The thing I like best is that the characters are relatable. They are real people with real problems and real insecurities. Claire is not a skinny girl and deals with her self confidence about her size. Jack is not some muscle man that looks like a greek god. He’s a regular single dad with a crazy ex wife. They are charismatic and readers can easily connect and understand them. The story is refreshingly funny especially with Claire’s inner dialogue. It’s an easy read that I definitely recommend.

Music Man by K.L. Montgomery a five-star read that is like music to your ears. This is number one in the Romance in Rehoboth series and what a start, I am in love already, I have read the rest of the series and gone back to the start for this one and can attest that they can be read as standalone as they set in the same amazing place with some interacting characters but not in each other’s pockets, best of all worlds. This brings to us what I have come to love from this author and realness and a harsh look at life as it really is, but with a heart warming spin that sows us that just because there are wicked people in the world doesn’t mean deep down we have to join them, and just because you see the pretty outside doesn’t mean you see pretty inside and vice-versa, I love how the author shows us that side of life. I simply adored Claire as she has this amazing inner monologue that just made me relate to her infinity. Do not miss this story as it will bring music to your life.

5out of 5 stars

Music man by K.L. Montgomery was a great read it’s a book that pulled me in from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished the last page. I loved reading about the characters of Jack and Claire even when I first met them in Fat Girl. Music Man is about chasing your dreams and second chances. I just simply loved it. The characters are great, and the plot was amazing and different.
Claire dares Jack to audition for Benefiting the support art foundations and he wins now so now he must leave Claire for six weeks. What could happen in six weeks? What will happen to Jack and Claire when the six weeks are up will Jack choose his first love music or Claire? Can Claire compete with all this hype and does she really want too?

You will need to read this amazing story to find out. I highly recommend this story….

by K.L. Montgomery

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Claire and Jack are wonderful characters that you just can't help but want to root for. Claire is a very strong and independent woman who speaks her mind. Jack is a music teacher that once had dreams of being a rock star, now those dreams might be coming true. They have fallen in love but are they ready for all that comes with Jack's dream possibly coming true? This is not the first book I have read by this author so I knew this would be a wonderful story and I'm glad to see I was right. I found myself laughing, feeling disappointed, and sad and all things in between. There are also some other really great characters in this story you will love. I highly recommend this book.

Music Man by K.L. Montgomery is book one of the Romance in Rehoboth series. This book is a standalone and the series can be read in any order. I haven’t read the series in any particular order and I haven’t missed anything.

This book is Jack and Claire’s story. Jack has always dreamed of making it big in the music industry. Sometimes things don’t always work out to plan which is how Jack ends up teaching music and meeting Claire. There is an instant connection between the two and things progress naturally between them. Claire encourages Jack not to give up on his dream and as unlikely as it may seem, Jack gets a second chance at it. With Jack’s dream job on the table, what will the future look like for the two of them?

This was such a fun, sweet story to read. I’ve read other books in the series and each book has its own feel making it such an enjoyable read!

Music Man (Romance in Rehoboth #1) by K.L. Montgomery. I LOVE K.L. Montgomery so any book she has I grab. This one is no different. This is a great series and this is the first book. Its about a lady named Claire who has just turned the big 40. Jack is a singer/songwriter who after life changes direction he decides to teach music. He has always loved music more than anything. He meets Claire after she signs up for Piano lessons and he falls head over heels after their first meeting. They both hit it off and are having a great time learning about each other and falling in love. When Claire talks Jack into entering a contest things change. Will he choose to follow his forever dream even if it means losing Claire? Read Music Man to find out! I love this series and this book is one of the best.

Music Man was yet again another wonderful read from this author! I always fall in love with her stories so easily because they just feel so real. The characters are easy to connect with and Ms Montgomery writes about them in such a way that they do come alive on the page. I loved the characters Jack and Claire, they were relatable and I was really rooting for them the whole way through. I love reading about older characters, it definitely makes them more relatable to me as a reader. I really loved Claire! I thought she was an awesome character; one of those that you really wish was real because you just know they would make an awesome friend! The inner dialogue really made me feel like I knew her personally!
Music Man was a fantastic read and I 100% recommend it! I cannot wait to read more from this series!

This is really a wonderful read! The story has its ups and downs. But really towards the end....I couldn’t put it down. Those words he wrote are worth tearing up over. The characters we have met almost all of them previously (if you read Fat Girl). This story made me like Claire, Jack and Anita more. Each showed great growth in their character. I enjoyed how not every thought of Claire was self doubt on her looks, thoughts or actions. It was nice plus she got some backbone. Jack went from a sexy man beast to an unrecognizable Star. For Anita? She surprised me the most and I have to say I loved all the Darth Vader references to her.

Overall this is a story I read really quickly. It has a nice flow and the plight of the characters kept me reading. Jacks song’s were great but even more because he wrote them for Claire. I didn’t realize he had that in him. Very Enjoyable!

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind. I love a good rock star story but this book exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book in the Rehoboth series and wow what a perfect start. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.

Claire is turning the big 4-0 and she is not afraid. She has her new Rockstar boyfriend. Claire is a well known author but she can’t get into her writing. When she sees a singing contest she enters Jack into it. Claire is so excited for him to live his dream. She is in complete shock when Jack goes on a small tour. Claire quickly realizes that Jack is changing but is it his choice? Will Claire’s choice backfire and break them apart or will it make them even more close?

Music Man: A Single Dad Rock Star Romantic Comedy (Romance in Rehoboth Book 1) by K.L. Montgomery

I think I liked this book more than when Jack and Claire met. Maybe it was the familiarity with the characters or maybe the way the characters had evolved, not sure which. I was up way later than I should have been because I couldn't put the book down.

I was able to feel Jack's emotions as he was figuring this musician thing. The nerves, excitement, loneliness and exhilaration. They were conveyed perfectly.

Claire is amazing. I liked her well enough in their book, but I fell in love with her in this book. She did so much to encourage Jack to follow his dreams and was willing to take on more than she ever could have anticipated.

I have yet to get disappointed with anything I have read by Ms. Montgomery and will continue to seek her out.

Listen, I went into this one ready for a swoony, bookish romance. Instead, I got Jack — a man so irritating I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room — and Claire, whose complete lack of self-confidence made me want to personally stage an intervention. Girl, please. You are not a doormat; stand up and use your words.

Jack’s charm was supposed to win me over, but honestly? He gave me whiplash. One minute he’s sweet, the next he’s an emotional cactus. And Claire spent most of the book apologizing for existing. By chapter ten, I was rooting for her to dump him and date literally anyone else — maybe even her barista.

The writing itself isn’t bad — it’s easy to read and has moments of warmth — but I can’t swoon when the romance makes me grind my teeth. Three stars because I finished it, and because deep down, I wanted to love it. But Jack? He’s going on my literary red-flag list.

I loved this book. It is a great start to a new series by this author. This is a well written story that has characters that pop off the pages and into your heart. They are connectable and they easily pulled me into their story. They kept the story engaging and I love how the females are very strong and know what they want and how to get it. What happens when music is the only thing you love? Jack meets Claire and their is instant attraction. What will happen when Jack finally gets his big break but he has a strong love for Claire? This is where the story picks up and I couldn’t put it down. Their story is awesome and I highly recommend this must read book. You won’t regret picking up this book.
