They survived the first five days of what might very well be the beginning of the end of the world as they know it. Man has become its own worst enemy, driven insane by an unknown infection that has claimed much of the globe. The infected will target anyone and anything in their path in order to satiate a never-ending bloodlust.
For Cole and Emily, reuniting against all odds was a miracle. Now, they’ll have to face the leftovers of a ravaged planet. Fortunately, they’re more than equipped to handle whatever is thrown at them.
Or so they thought.
The answers to “what happened” lies somewhere out there, but for Cole and Emily, along with the handful of survivors depending on them, getting through the next day—then the ones after that—is all that matters for now.
Their goal is to find a safe haven from which to regroup. That’s where LARS comes in…
I am really enjoying this series. I like both of the main characters and also like them together. I love that the creatures are completely different than the Purge creatures. A previous reviewer left a one star rating and I am calling bullshit on it. This is NOT a one star book. Not even close. If you like Sisavath's work you will enjoy this series.
I’ve read all three of these so far and would have enjoyed them more except that there’s an overwhelming amount of sexist and misogynistic rhetoric. I’m like is this really how a man thinks of women? Even though there’s strong female characters, it’s very weird. I’m sure these books are geared towards men, but still it’s concerning that this is a male narrative of how women are.
The incessant bantering With the voice, makes me...crazy, I had to skim to even get through it. I'm not a newbie to Sam's books... I've read them all, but these latest books have a real issue with mindless back and fourth dialogue. Sorry, it's a good story if you can wade through the idiot dialogue.
The sequel comes out in July and I have preordered it!
The fate of the USA and possibly the world hangs on the remnants of our few surviving heroes who are savaged by wolves and the human crazies also. They are out of ammunition and armed only with a knife, Greg now dead, and Cole and his pregnant wife gravely injured by the crazed wolf pack, they are momentarily safe on a rooftop in a warehouse, assuming they do not succumb to their wounds and blood loss. The helicopter with their friends is gone attempting to get the rest of the group to safety, if such a thing even exists anymore. Meanwhile, two men watch them from a satellite screen, but only one may care enough to help.... maybe The question exists...are these " good guys " or orchestra tore of this horrendous attack itself? This is one of Sisavath's very finest! IMHO!!!
A virus has infected most of humanity, turning them into raving monsters who's only desire was to kill.
The strange virus infected everyone who came in contact with an infected. Only a few people remain uninfected, Cole and Emily among them. Strange: they all have the same blood type - O negative. But their survival isn't a given, they must fight to stay alive - uninfected or not, they can be killed!
The characters are amazing. You can cheer or boo on almost every page as the nefarious plot unfolds. Speaking of 'nefarious plot' the group responsible for releasing this insane virus have more insanity in mind! Great characters and an amazing storyline produce a remarkably great read!
Very disappointed in Sisavath. His Purge series was about the best I've ever read. I don't know what this was all about, but it was bad. Extremely bad. I hope he hasn't gone the route of Grisham and other's, just cranking them out. Let me say one more time...BAD.
What a cliffhanger! So, now the damn dogs, wolfs and other animals are possessed. LARS was a bust and the hero’s are stuck on a tin roof. This just gets better and better. No spoilers here, go to Book 1 and read the story for yourself! It’s a cliffhanger!
Another excellent read by Sam Sisavath. This story is every bit as good as the Road to Babylon books. One thing for sure, the action is non-stop. Our heroes, Cole and Emily have reunited but their fight for survival gets harder every second. I can't wait until the next one.
As calming and relaxing as an underwater roller-coaster ride without oxygen apparatus through a pack of great white sharks in a middle of a frenzy feast while bleeding!!!
Through all of that and we must draw our own conclusions. Trying not to post any spoilers, however, if this turn out like Will......(draw your own conclusions.)!
Each of the books in this series (up to this point) give you a little nugget of info and then a heap more mystery and misery. Each has ended with a cliff hangar worthy of the old Saturday afternoon matinee shows. Frankly, starting another just fills me with anxiety.
